Chapter 39 Trolls are impatient

Cynthia grasped for a breath as she looked in front of her with horror. Even though she was a prodigy in the magic field, she was a child after all. Moreover, her mana wasn't nearly enough to face the whole group of elite trolls who had monstrous dexterity and stamina.

" Ugh* Leah, how far are we again?"

She said with a groan. Her hands were trembling from her weakness and her vision was getting clouded with every passing moment.

Leah was also nearing her end. As an assassin, she was confident in her agility and stamina, but she was getting tired as a vanguard. All trolls are focused on herself, she was dead tired to defend both herself and Cynthia.

" Up ahead! Thankfully, we are far from Licht and that girl."

She spoke with a stern gaze. She didn't want to hurt Licht or Lisha. Her iron resolution gave enough boost for adrenaline that helped her all way up to the vicinity of the settlement.

" Watch out!"

Suddenly, Cynthia shouted. Leah turned her waist to dodge the incoming attack, but it was too late.

She vomited blood as she struggled to get up. Her eyes were dyed with blood and her head was in a dizzy state. She gripped her daggers even harder than ever for she was in a dire situation.

" Human, tell me your name!"

A troll with a giant axe came out from the rear in a menacing way. He was observing their patterns all this time. Unlike normal trolls, he had giant tusks and leather armor made of the finest monster in the north.

" You stay from her."

Cynthia said loudly while her staff started to spin and illuminate the area. Her eyes were burning with a color of gold that indicated she was using overdrive which was a forbidden technique of mages.

" Mage, troublesome humans."

The troll leader said while grinning. He readied his axe to chop down this troublesome human.

" No, you don't."

A single hand reached his shoulder. Unlike Leah's little hand, it was a hand filled with scars and it had the great strength that stopped him on his track. He looked back and saw a woman with giant yak. She was looking at him with interest.

" It has been a long time since I had fun with trolls. Your leader was certainly troublesome."

Greia said while strengthening her grip. Her fingers deeply dug into his flesh and froze his body one by one away.

" You! I know you."

The troll said while escaping from her grip. He was sweating under her tremendous pressure. He knew he would be killed by this woman if he stayed in this area longer. So, he decided to abandon the mission.

" Retreat!"

He shouted in a loud voice. The trolls immediately formed a triangular formation to break away from her field. Greia licked her lips as her eyes were filled with amusement.

She was itching to slash them, but that wasn't her mission. She remembered that their force wasn't ready enough to force them back to the desolate land. Therefore, she gave up chasing after them.

Instead, she went towards the two girls with a smile on her face.

" You did well for southern. Hmm, it would be great if you had some muscles. Oh well, tell me what happened."

Greia said as she put them behind her back effortlessly. The yak snorted with steam to warn her, but Greia ignored him because she knew this guy was pretending to be annoyed. He was just greedy for more lunch.

" We were ambushed by these trolls. I couldn't defeat them due to their large numbers and abilities."

Leah said with distress. She guessed this woman was her ally since there was no reason to involve in their battle.

" Before this could you save our friend? He is stuck on the ice lake."

Leah said with a gentle tone. She didn't forget Licht who was left behind.

" Hmm, an ice lake. Well, I will send my troops there."

Greia said while heading back to her settlement. She was getting hungry thanks to her body's fast metabolism.

" Mom!"

Suddenly, she heard a shout from afar. She furrowed her eyebrows as she glanced in that direction. She saw Lisha and Licht who were walking together.
