Chapter 36 Grief blinds the eyes

Yeager was returning to his home with a cheerful expression because he was excited to tell his talent to his father, but when he saw the church he immediately ran to his home.

Fall*

He fell to the ground, bruising his knees and blood dripped from them. However, he didn't feel it because he saw the tapes around the church that he saw a long time ago. His breath quickened as his mind went blank with despair, fear gripping him in its hand.

Creak*

He opened the door, not caring about the shout of the police units. All that mattered was his family and his father.

" Father!"

He shouted, looking around to find his father despite his muddy face and bloody knees. His eyes were darting around to find a silhouette and he found one. A bloody corpse that was covered in a blanket, covering his face with black cloth.

Despair overwhelmed his mind as he roared out with anger. He knelt on the floor with a bad premonition in his heart, not able to see his face due to his fear and glimmer of hope.

" What is this kid doing here? This isn't some sort of a drama-shooting scene. Take him away before it gets ugly."

Mark said with annoyance, leaning on the wall. He guessed the identity of the boy, linking the dots in his mind.

He walked to Yeager, raising his chin with his cold arm, and saw the eyes of the boy. It was gentle yet filled with a ferocity that conflicted with the very nature of humans. He couldn't understand how a person was able to get eyes like this since being both kind and bloodthirsty was impossible. Yet this child had the eyes of the warrior without any blood on his hands and he had a pure heart which baffled him.

" Relax, boy. Your father is fine. Man, your sister made a dram entrance before. Are you trying to get on my bad side?"

Mark said, sighing with a tired face when he saw his face. He was extremely exhausted to deal with this kind of situation, so he wanted to get things straight as quickly as he could.

" Really? Then who is that? Why is he wearing father's shoes?"

Yeager asked, wiping out his tears with his tattered clothes. Unlike his peers, he had a quick responses, thus he was able to gather his mind quickly.

On the other hand, Mark was impressed by this youngling. He had rarely seen people whose minds were tough as steel. They were either some renowned people or some vigilantes who hold high positions and they were hardened by the various problems around them much less a child who didn't know about the vastness of the world.

" He went out to refresh his mind. Your sister is in your neighbor's house. We had to secure the crime area."

Mark explained, pointing to the run-down house. He took out a packet of cookies from his pocket, giving it to Yeager a reluctant look because he was planning to eat it. It was a rare delicacy that was hard to find in the upper district due to its popularity.

" Just go there."

He spoke, shrugging his shoulders. Maybe he was getting soft nowadays, but what he could do?

Meanwhile, a single elderly man walked into high rise building with a long trench coat. He went to the reception.

" May I meet with the leaders? I have brought the product."

He said, handing the case to the receptionist. The woman raised her eyebrows with suspicion, but soon it was dispersed because he had an authentic product.

" Take the left elevator. They are waiting for you. I never thought you would be this old."

The receptionist fixed her eyeglasses, gesturing him to go. She was observing other people in the lobby, knowing most of them were just goofing around and sniffing something from them.

" Thank you. Have a nice day!"

The old man said, pulling his hat down. The receptionist couldn't take a look at his face, but she could tell this man was quite educated.

Ding*

The door was opened as the man walked out. The time was running out, and he was getting ready to implement his justice.
