Chapter 28 Ice cold

Licht heard this story a long time ago. He had heard this story from his mother who was knowledgeable in all fields. She used to tell us there was God kind among us. They were so powerful that they even ruled the entire southern continent by themselves. However, one-day tragedy stroke them.

The god emperor who was the strongest being of his time had passed away from an unknown situation. His fall spelled the doom of their kind.

They divided into 2 groups one suggested a new king while the other wanted to form their kingdoms.

In the end, most of the Gods were killed by their comrades and friends. They called this war the beginning of the myth end era. Surviving gods had dispersed into other 2 continents with their henchmen.

Western continent where there was a large number of resources, was their first aim. The dark gods arrived here first with their fanatics. Later, other gods arrived here with their churches. They fought against each other to determine who was the ruler. In the end, righteous gods ascended to the throne.

They banished their brethren into every corner of this world. That was the main story.

Licht didn't know there were other forces than light force and dark force which consisted of known races.

The wolf blew out the icy fog again. His giant mouth opened and he said with a serious tone.

" We were the main force of the ancient battle. We, ingenious gods, were one of the strongest beings on that battlefield. Especially, I remember their fear when I shredded them into a bloody mess. They howled and cursed at me for being merciless and cruel even though they were the invaders. I have sacrificed my children for the win. In the end, I lost most of my tribe."

His giant shook with anger and his eyes were filled with hatred which indicated how much he despised the gods.

He continued with a plain tone.

" After that, we retreated into the North where our home was. I was happy that my children were alive, but tragedy took the stage. My most beloved brother backstabbed me and almost wiped out my pack. He wanted to rule the north without his siblings' consent. Furthermore, he knew I was the biggest obstacle in his way. So, he killed my pack except for one cub which was hidden away from his eyes."

Creak*

A life-like statue rose from the ground. It was a masterpiece that could be sold at high prices in Licht's eyes. The clear lines along with its expression felt like it was an alive being.

It was a giant polar bear with armor. His claws looked strong enough to shred anything and most importantly he was even bigger than the wolf.

Wolf rose from his throne and landed in front of it. He gently touched the sculpture and said lightly.

" I trusted him too much that I have lost my vision. His brutal flame melted my impregnable ice defense as he feasted on my children and my body to strengthen himself and his tribe. Fortunately, my soul had escaped away from his grasp."

Bang*

He crushed the ice with his single paw. He breathed an icy fog to meld into the cave.

Licht who was puzzled by his story felt sorry for him. He could see the hatred in his eyes and hear the loneliness in his tone. He was waiting for someone to approach him. He was waiting for his salvation.

" I know I can't help you, but I can help your kin. That wolf was your kin, right? I will protect him in his needs. That's all I can offer to you."

Licht said grimly. He wasn't sure about the wolf would agree to his term because there was no benefit in his words.

Swoosh*

The wolf looked at him without any expression. His tall body started to crack like it was made of ice.

" I will watch you, human."

After saying that he dispersed into the ice particles.

Licht felt something was pulling him. He opened his eyes and found himself on the ground with a blanket.

Regina who was sitting next to him, handed him a warm cup of tea to warm him up.
