Chapter 12 Is it too much?

The fortress city was even bigger than Windsor which was one of the largest cities in the entire continent. Moreover, it held divine churches and markets that were infamous to the world. Licht could spot countless merchants and people lining up at the city entrance to enter the city.

The most iconic thing was a demi-human who was wearing a garrison unit uniform while guarding the entrance. It was pretty nostalgic to see a demi-human since the western continent had various restrictions for other races to ensure there was no war between the nations. Of course, there were advantages of being there, but compared to the South and East where all were accepted, the West adhered to strict policies for both humans and demihumans. Due to that West had social classes that vastly differed from other continents. They could either become extremely wealthy and powerful or they would sink to the bottom for years unknowingly, hoping to reach for their dreams.

" Please, show us your IDs and pay the entrance fee at the booth. Also, you can donate money for the churches near the entrance."

The guard explained patiently while pointing in the direction where people were gathered. Licht smiled when he heard his voice and handed over their ID cards. However, he didn't pay anymore since Southern people didn't receive any form of tips.

The guard looked at their ID cards with a calm expression as he allowed them to go. He could tell they were a bunch of irregular people and he knew about the infamous Agam. Although he was reluctant to allow this scoundrel to enter the city, but what choice he have in this situation? He had a clean record as smooth as God's light.

Agam led them to the booth where he located a middle-aged woman who was glaring at him with daggers. She clicked her tongue when she saw Agam because this man had passed with him.

" Agam, you dare to return here. When are you going to pay? I HAD A DIFFICULT TIME YOU KNOW."

She said while gnashing her teeth with anger. The squad could see a demon rising from her back, but it wasn't a real demon, it was more like her heart. She was oozing out a killing intent and a look that was ready to peel him alive.

" What did you do?"

Lisha asked calmly, standing next to him with her usual face. Agam felt embarrassed when he saw others' suspicious gazes because truth to be told he forgot everything except for her name. He recalled he had spent a few nights with her and he also remembered he was buying something with her credit.

" Relax, we can fix this. I will leave you my address and we catch up later."

Agam broke out with cold sweat from the gazes of women who were looking at him with different gazes. He could tell his name would hit bottom if he stayed here any longer.

" Sure."

She received the payment while maintaining her cold smiley face. Licht and others silently handed out their payments, gesturing him to move quickly before things got ugly. Besides, they could feel the church forces were glaring at him. Particularly, women seemed to either hate him or like him universally.

" Even nuns, tsk!"

Leah clicked her tongue, hastening her movements whilst keeping her distance from him. She swore all she felt from him was endless negative feelings.

Neigh*

The horses swept past them as they saw the city filled with life. People were riding various things, including demi human taxis where strong demi humans carried people in carriages. It was a peculiar sight for them and Cynthia seemed to be curious about everything as she tried to drag Licht with her, but how could he follow her?

" Agam, let's go to the inn first and after that, we will go to the city office. By the way, stop pecking me, Hart."

He stroked the little hawk in his hand while looking around him with a calm face. Like usual their faces attracted other people's attention because it was rare to see such good-looking people band together and travel together.

" It is annoying."

Lisha said, blocking her face with her hood. Licht stood in front of her and Leah with a single move.
