chapter 50-slayer of the dead

Tommy had some experience tackling and charging at enemies due to rugby training, along with some wrestling and judo techniques. It wasn't hard for him to grasp the foundations, as Tommy was really good at grappling techniques.

Words appeared:

[Slain two titled Dark Knights. Gain 500 gold coins each.]

This was good, but the problem was we needed the table back at our base to actually use the coins to buy from the shop deck. Which was located in the Traven

But nothing's perfect.

"Tommy, I have an idea on how to get two birds with one stone, I mean three birds basically," I said, leaning back-to-back with him to counter any attacks coming our way.

"What's the plan, mate?"

"We go after that ghost. I can maybe jump with your aid to slash it down from the air. Once we kill it, maybe the spell it's using on these knights will be gone."

"That's a big 'if,'" Tommy said.

"You know what else is big."

"Not the time."

"I'm sorry, couldn't help myself. Alright, back on track, we search, locate it, then we slay the damn thing," I demanded.

Nodding his head, I felt his trust, even when I wasn't sure of myself. I had to do this, no, we had to do this.

But suddenly, we heard a cry for help. It was Max, "Help! One's on me, help!"

The plan was a bust. We needed to go back now.

We ran toward the shouting. I don't think this through, did I?

I was truly incapable as a leader, but then a cloaked floating figure floated in our way. The wraith was here, or the ghost.

"Tommy, go around and shield Max. I got an idea of how to beat the shit out of this thing."

Tommy did as I said. The ghost seemed to ignore him, as both me and the ghost seemed to know that if we killed each other, then the battle would be won.

This thing could thinks and its thinking had logic to it, monster were smarter then i thought, and that scared me.

I threw daggers, and it seemed to go past the thing. Shit? It seems like physical objects won't do the trick.

It then flew at fast speed towards me. I dodged, and it then tried to scratch me and grab at me. I dodged and dodged, leaned back, flipping, and all kinds of ways to not get touched.

To others, it seemed to be a graceful dance of intertwined, calculated moves to dodge.

Weaving left and right from its attacks..

But the only problem was It had something that made it at an advantage, and that was it could attack me, and I couldn't it, so of course, the flow would naturally be on its side.

I could only curse at my luck. Maybe my theory would work, maybe. Was I really ready to gamble? My back was facing the wall, I was losing my understanding of the surroundings to focus on the moment.

The ghost clawed again. This time, I used the wall as a jumping platform, escaping, jumping, and landing behind the wretched thing.

Gamble or not, let's see if this works. I jumped forward. This time, I was on the attack, but with a shocking, unexpected turn of events, a blade from the mist came out of nowhere while I was in the air.

My luck has not been good lately. I couldn't dodge this time. The ghost seems to have planned this ambush from the start. The dark knight has been hiding in the smokescreen waiting for me to leave an opening.

That only gave me no choice, no other choice but to gamble on this single power of mine.

The blade, which cut through my neck, in my eyes, everything was slowed. My focus was at its pinnacle.

The blade sunk deep into my skin, It was fast I couldn't feel the cold sensation of steel cling my neck. The blade went through, but the result was astonishing – no blood, no scream, and no dead corpse. I was fine, better than fine.

The ghost under its cloak had what seemed to be fear in its eye.

I focused all my attention on the ghost, ignoring the dark knight behind me, who seemed to be in shock.

My daggers stabbed the chest seven times, then I aimed at the ghost's throat. It screeched in pain, probably having not felt pain or anything in a long, long time.

This was my parting gift. I only had a short minute to kill this thing and end it all. It kept clawing at me, yet its attacks went past my body, not harming me at all. The tables have truly turned in my favor. One might even ask who the ghost in this situation was.

I left thirty daggers impaled in its body, against the wall after I was done.

[You have slain a Wraith of the Phantom Cloaks. You have gained 600 gold coins and have gained one item card.]

The words read. I don't have time to use the card just yet.

The time my skill had run out. That's right, I stole the wraith's abilities at the last second before my head would be chopped off. I strengthened myself while weakening my enemy, a gamble which paid off.

I looked behind me to face the dark knight. It didn't move, seemed like the wraith's necromancer spell had worn off. Good.

I then walked past the thing. We won. The chances of this battle were highly low during the start, yet why hasn't the water stopped? I questioned it all.

Was that my weakness, questioning everything that isn't right?

Then it came together, hopefully this wasn't right, but before I could think that thought...

A giant hand grabbed my black cloak, a force tugging me back with a grip strength beyond my understanding, flinging my body backward towards the wall, smashing the bricks and stone, creating a crater in the wall.
