Athena shook her head, correcting her sister's misunderstanding. "The original Amazons were Ares' daughters, Artemis. Although they may not worship him presently, their early foundations were tied to Ares. However, it seems you are not well-versed in human society, so it's understandable that you may be unaware of these details. After all, I am only the Goddess of Wisdom."
Artemis hissed in frustration, her patience wearing thin. "Stop acting superior, Athena! Your pretentious wisdom might impress humans, but I see through your facade. You're just a know-it-all and a sly snake."
Athena's response was measured and composed. "I have never claimed to be superior to you, but your insecurity seems to suggest otherwise."
Artemis couldn't resist the challenge, her voice laced with defiance. "Oh, really? Want to prove it? I bet I could beat you in a fight, and I'm a far superior archer."
Athena acknowledged her sister's skill but remained steadfast. "You are indeed a better archer, but in a direct confrontation, you would not defeat me. Do you know why?"
Artemis crossed her arms, a defiant expression on her face. "Please enlighten me, Goddess of Wisdom. I'm eager to hear your explanation."
Athena's response was matter-of-fact. "It's because you lack control while I possess it. Ares has never defeated me because he cannot outsmart me, and he falls for every taunt."
Artemis scowled, her frustration evident. "Fine, have it your way. But at least show me some respect. We are sisters, after all."
Athena observed her sister with a raised eyebrow, her tone steady. "Your sense of victimhood is becoming more apparent, Artemis. Remember, you didn't have to accompany me if you despise my presence so much."
Artemis struggled to contain her anger, but she quickly composed herself when she noticed Athena's calm demeanor. She didn't want to prove her sister's point by losing her cool once again. Reluctantly, Artemis replied with a newfound calmness, "I am here to help vanquish evil dragons. Hera compelled me to join you. But if you insist on talking down to me like this, perhaps it's best if we both operate independently."
Athena's annoyance was evident as she responded to Artemis. "Artemis, your suggestion of splitting up is not wise at all. Have you taken the time to consider the magnitude of our mission and its implications? Ophis, the dragon god, is amassing a formidable army of dragons. This isn't merely a hunting expedition for you, Artemis. It's a terrifying threat of epic proportions. Dividing our forces would only weaken our presence here. Have you even considered the power of these dragons? Your hostility towards me is counterproductive in this critical situation. We must work together."
Artemis raised an eyebrow, her tone laced with heavy sarcasm. "Ah, please, enlighten me with your infinite wisdom, sister. I'm eager to receive another lecture from your high and mighty self."
Athena sighed, her frustration evident as she delved into the seriousness of the situation. "Ophis is not an ordinary dragon, Artemis. She is a dragon god, more powerful than any deity, titan, or primordial. The dragon gods possess unparalleled might. Can you grasp the scale of this threat? Engaging in open warfare against Ophis could potentially lead to the end of the world."
Artemis seemed somewhat taken aback by this revelation. "So, what you're saying is we can't simply slay her?"
Athena nodded gravely. "She can potentially be defeated, but brute force alone will not suffice. Father is seeking counsel from the Fates, and many others among us are consulting the titans and primordials. We don't yet understand Ophis's intentions, but it would be wise to gather more information before we declare an all-out war. Even if all the gods unite, it may result in catastrophic consequences, potentially leading to the deaths of many among us. It is crucial to comprehend what Ophis truly desires. She possesses enough power to challenge our world single-handedly, yet she seeks assistance. Isn't that puzzling? Why would she amass a dragon army?" Athena explained, her voice heavy with concern.
Artemis responded with a scoff, her skepticism evident. "Well, you're the goddess of wisdom. Perhaps you could enlighten us."
Athena shook her head, contemplating the mysteries surrounding Ophis. "Unfortunately, I don't have the answer. However, it's highly likely that her motives might extend beyond the realm of gods. My point is that we should exercise caution and strive to understand the situation before anyone, including yourself, acts recklessly. According to Tsukuyomi's account, Ophis could have effortlessly annihilated them if she so desired. Her dragon generals alone posed a significant threat to the Shinto Pantheon when they confronted her."
Artemis leaned back in her seat, her curiosity piqued. "Alright, Miss Genius, enlighten me about these other dragons in her army. If they make any aggressive moves, we should be able to counter them, right? I must admit, I'm unfamiliar with many of the dragons Tsukuyomi mentioned."
"Ophis' dragon army consists of many evil dragons and even one of the heavenly dragons. Ladon and the Hydra are beings you already know I'm sure. Apophis was the Eclipse Dragon of Darkness. It took Ra and many other Egyptian Gods to stop him. Orochi was a dragon from these Shinto lands. He was very malicious and was killed by their storm god, Susanoo. It was said Yamata no Orochi was the most venomous of all dragons. He was equal in power to Susanoo, which is nothing to scoff at. Azi Dahaka was the child and weapon of Angra Mainyu or Ahriman as he was also known. It took the entire Zoroastrian Pantheon and the hero Θraētaona to kill him. Grendel was a terrifying European dragon. He was also half-giant and was an enemy to many gods and heroes across Europe and even parts of western Asia. His downfall was interesting…he was defeated by the heavenly dragon Ddraig a long time ago and in his weakened state, the hero Beowulf managed to kill him. Nidhoggr is the abyss dragon. He was a powerful wyrm that opposed the Norse Gods and the Jotnar alike. He gnawed upon the roots of Yggdrasil to gain power and he used his abyssal chaotic magic to fight Asgard and other realms. Many gods tried to kill him and all of them failed. The Thunder God Thor took it upon himself to finally hunt the creature down, but before he could, Nidhoggr was killed by the Welsh Dragon Ddraig. After Ddraig killed Nidhoggr and defeated Grendel prior to that the Norse Gods believed Ddraig wasn't evil like most of the other dragons," Athena paused briefly.
