As Diodora collapsed to the ground, Issei's fury showed no signs of abating. He ruthlessly followed up by stomping on one of the devil's arms with all his might, causing a sickening snap to reverberate through the air as the bones shattered.
Diodora's anguished screams filled the room as Issei pressed his weight onto the broken limb. With pure hatred burning in his eyes, the dragon spoke, his voice dripping with venom, "I think of murdering you instantly , but you deserve to suffer first!"
Diodora's agonized shrieks intensified as Issei delivered a powerful kick to the devil's groin, further exacerbating his torment.
In that critical moment, Gabriel, the archangel, finally caught up to Issei. Wasting no time, she flew over to free Xenovia and Irina from their restraints and gags.
With a surge of divine power, she effortlessly dissolved the strange magical holds that bound them. Urgently addressing the girls, Gabriel asked, "Are you two alright?"
"Gabriel-sama?! You came! Thank God! You and Issei came to save us!" Irina exclaimed with relief, tears welling up in her eyes as she embraced the seraph.
Rias, witnessing the presence of the twelve-winged angel, appeared completely astonished. She voiced her disbelief, "Wait... Is that the seraph Gabriel?"
Kiba, too, was taken aback. He questioned, "Why is she here with Hyoudou?"
Akeno observed the angel's comforting actions toward the girls and quickly sought Issei's attention. "Hyoudou-kun, are you and Archangel Gabriel working together?" she queried.
Before Issei could respond, Gabriel addressed the Gremory devils, explaining, "I offered to assist Issei-kun in rescuing his friends. I also informed him that it was Diodora Astaroth who had captured them, leading him here without delay."
"We appreciate your help, but this sudden arrival will likely alert half of the Underworld to our presence. You realize this could be misconstrued as an act of war, right?" Rias inquired, her tone tinged with concern.
The blonde angel nodded in understanding. "I am well aware of the potential ramifications, but we cannot turn a blind eye to a devil attacking the faithful. While I hope for a diplomatic resolution, I am prepared to take action if necessary."
"I see..." Rias trailed off slowly, her gaze shifting toward Issei, who continued his merciless assault on Diodora, toying with him.
Pausing briefly in his brutal beatdown, Issei turned his attention to Gabriel and spoke with a mixture of curiosity and realization, "They're not devils, are they, Gabriel?"
"Irina and Xenovia are still human, Issei-kun... although the blonde girl is not," the seraph clarified.
Issei's gaze softened as he looked at the tearful blonde nun, who now knelt on the ground. "That's the girl with Twilight Healing, I presume. It would explain why Gremory's people are here. They came to save her. Surprisingly noble of them. If I had arrived any later, Irina and Xenovia could have suffered the same fate... or worse."
Ddraig interjected, his voice resonating with a mix of revelation and analysis. "Gremory's people have likely been stalling him all this time. That would explain why they haven't been defiled or harmed yet."
The blonde nun, Asia Argento, sobbed uncontrollably as she approached Gabriel, her voice trembling with hope and despair. "A-are you Gabriel-sama?"
Gabriel's gaze softened as she examined the distraught girl. "Yes, I am. Are you okay?" she asked, her voice carrying a tinge of sadness.
Asia immediately embraced the angel, her tears flowing freely. "Please tell God to forgive me! I never accepted this!"
"It's alright, Asia Argento... God would understand," Gabriel reassured her, her voice filled with empathy.
Xenovia, curious and uncertain, spoke up. "Would He?"
Gabriel's attempt to provide solace and Xenovia's confusion were abruptly interrupted by Diodora's maniacal laughter as he regained his footing.
"No, He wouldn't! God is dead! Hahahaha! You foolish nuns and exorcists, praying to nothingness in the heavens! How do you think I convinced my lovely peerage girls to renounce their faith in you pathetic angels? Bwahahaha! Once they learned the truth, they willingly surrendered themselves to me!"
Rias' group stood frozen, their eyes widening in shock at this revelation. Voices filled the room, each expressing disbelief and uncertainty.
"N-no way! God is dead?! How is that possible?" Kiba's voice quivered with incredulity.
Gasper shook his head, unable to comprehend the information. "That can't be true..."
"What are you blabbering about, Diodora?" Rias demanded, her voice laced with anger.
Akeno shook her head, unable to accept the words she had just heard. "This is unfathomable... He must be lying."
Koneko remained silent, her gaze fixed upon Issei, who appeared even more enraged than before at Diodora's audacious claim.
Xenovia and Irina's faces contorted with a mix of anguish and fury. Xenovia, her voice filled with defiance, declared, "He's lying! Kill him for uttering such blasphemy, Issei!"
"God is alive and well, right, Gabriel-sama?" Irina turned to the seraph, seeking confirmation.
Being a pure angel, Gabriel couldn't fabricate the truth. A sorrowful frown tugged at her lips as she responded, "God perished during the Great War, alongside the original Satans."
"W-what?!" Irina's voice cracked, tears welling up in her eyes once more. "No, that can't be true! We pray every day! God bestows miracles upon us!"
"Michael-kun has been doing his utmost to sustain the prayer system, but we angels are not infallible like him, nor do we possess the same power. You have all been directing your prayers to Michael-kun instead," Gabriel explained, her voice laden with sadness.
Xenovia sank to her knees, grappling with an existential crisis that threatened to overwhelm her. Nothing made sense anymore, and for the first time in her life, she felt adrift in a sea of uncertainty.
"H-how did God perish?" Xenovia demanded, her disbelief palpable.
Gabriel proceeded to recount the events with honesty, her words painting a vivid picture of the cataclysmic battle that unfolded. "During the Great War, a fierce clash erupted between two dragons, Ddraig and Albion. These dragons were known as the Heavenly Dragons of Domination and Supremacy, also recognized as the Red and White Dragon Emperors. Their battle was so devastating that it compelled all factions—the Angels, Fallen Angels, and Devils—to temporarily unite in order to prevent the annihilation of the world. Eventually, the two dragons joined forces, turning against God, the angels, and the devils. Many leaders from all sides fell in that battle, including the original Maou and God Himself. In a final act of sacrifice, God sealed the two Heavenly Dragons into the Longinus sacred gears, putting an end to the war. However, it also meant that all the original Maou and God Himself were no longer among us."
