Divine Dividing

Hello everyone, we are back to another Longinus, this time it's the Sacred gear of Vali Lucifer, DxD's Sasuke basically, or the character that is always a rival to the mc and is cooler over all.

Let's quickly get into it shall we:

1-Base Form:

> Kokabiel made a sound with his tongue by the presence of the white armour.

> "One of the Longinus, "White Dragon Emperor's Light Wings, Divine Dividing"..."--Volume 3, New Knight & New Rival.

Introduced as the counterpart of the Boosted Gear, Divine Dividing, also k own as the White Dragon Emperor's Light wings is a Mid-tier Longinus that materialises in the form of a pair of wings made of eight wings of light growing from the back and giving out a divine glow, or so the description goes.

It houses the soul of the White Dragon Emperor, Albion Gwiber, and so allows the wielder to access some of his power, the most prominent one being:

> " My name is Albion."

> [Divide!]

> I heard the sound, and the aura around Kokabiel got reduced immediately. Half of the spears of light in the sky also vanished.

> "One of the abilities of my "Divine Dividing". It halves the power of those I touch every 10 seconds. Your power will become my power. You don't have time! If you don't defeat me quickly, you will become so weak that you can't even beat a human."

> …Just like in the legend. The ability of the Sekiryuutei doubles the power of the possessor and can transfer it to others. The ability of the Hakuryuukou takes the power of their opponents and make it theirs. With the remaining wings, Kokabiel tried to go towards the Vanishing-Dragon, Albion.--Volume 3, New Knight & New Rival.

The ability of this Longinus is called Divide, basically allows its wielder to "Half" the power of a person they touch every 10 second.

Yes, touching the enemy is a requirement to activate Divide in the base form, so that's that.

Now, you have to understand something before we continue on, Divide isn't absolute, the Longinus can't litteraly take half if the power of everyone, no. There is a basic requirement for that: The enemy needs to be weaker, equal or just a little bit stronger than you for it to work.

If you try Divide against a vastly stronger enemy compared to you, Divide will not take half of his power, only a portion of it.

So the "Divide" here scales upon the difference in power between you and the enemy, the stronger your compared to you, the smaller the power Divide will take. If the enemy is weaker, then its guaranteed to take half of their power every Divide.

So you don't expect Vali to go to someone like Shiva, use Divide, amd then expect Shiva to lose half of his power.

Back to base form, Divine Dividing also has another feature, it allows its wielder high speed flight, which seems useless in the setting as Vali and everyone can fly, but do remember, Sacred gears were for humans, so the ability to fly is very much appreciated. In fact, just the high speed flight alone qualifies as a Sacred Gear on its own.

It is as Azazel said, at the end of the day, Longinus are just Sacred gears with too many functions strung together:

> "But, they transferred power? There are other Sacred Gears with that kind of ability?"

> "Boosted Gear combines together both the nearly endless doubling ability and the transfer ability. There exist independent Sacred Gears with either of these respective powers, the doubling Sacred Gear and the transfer Sacred Gear. All the Longinus are just a combination of one ability with another. Essentially, they combine powerful abilities that aren't supposed to be combined. 'Maybe the Longinus are born because of a kind of bug or errors in the Sacred Gear program constructed by God', that's one of the opinions of us in Grigori. If I had to say it in an easy-to-understand way to you, it's a fact that there are other powers that can transfer."--Volume 4, Life 4, Part 4.

Besides this however, Divine Dividing also offers another excellent feature: If the wielder absorbs too much energy, they can release all excess energy from their wings, allowing them to stay at peak performance all time.

This here is similar in a sense to the Boosted Gear, both Longinus are very dependent on the wielder's base power: Boosted Gear directly scales up with the user's power, with the boost being the base power multiplied, while Divine Dividing scales up with the user's power, allowing the Divide to be more and more absolute, as there become less and less gap between them and any potential stronger enemy.

Both Sacred gears also depend on the wielder's body, with the Boosted Gear wielder having to limit the numbers of boost they have, otherwise their body won't be able to handle all the power, and Divine Dividing depending on the user's body to act as a container for for the power, so the stronger the body, the more power it can steal and contain to be used.

2-Balance Breaker:

> "One of the Longinus, "White Dragon Emperor's Light Wings(Divine Dividing)"... If you are already in armour mode it means that it's in the Balance Breaker state. "White Dragon Emperor's ArmourDivine Dividing Scale-mail". Just like the "Boosted Gear" it truly is an annoying thing."

Much like the Boosted Gear, Divine Dividing's Balance Breaker is a Scail Mail armor called white and adorned with blue jewels. It allows for Divide to be used multiple times without any delay in between, and the armor itself gives a solid bonus to all stats: Power, Defense, Speed, etc...

The only thing it doesn't increase is Stamina, as it is the basic fuel used to maintain the Balance Breaker and activate its abilities, of course mana or demonic energy can also be used as Fuel.

In Vali's case, as a Descandent of Lucifer, his reserves are hitting the Low Ultimate-class at the vert least, allowing him to use his Balance Breaker for a month straight.

Divine Dividing's Balance Breaker does however add an ability to the base form, unlike the Boosted Gear, it's called Half Dimension:

> "Interesting. Then, I'll also get a bit serious! If I win, I'll halve all of you and everything that surrounds you with the Hakuryuukou's power!"

> Vali floated into the air and opened his arms wide. His wings of light also grew huge.

> "Halve? It's different with my power, but what do you mean by halving my surroundings?"

> That guy let out a laugh to my question.

>,"Ignorance is scary! It might not be bad for you to die without knowing!"

> Somehow, I felt offended! That guy harshly made me sound like an utter idiot!

> [Half Dimension!]

> Surrounded by a dazzling aura along with a voice from his jewel, Vali pointed his hand at the trees spread out below him.

> Guban!

> The thickness of the trees was halved in an instant! Ooh! They were seriously halved!?

> Gubababababan!

> More of the surrounding trees were compressed and halved. Don't ruin the scenery of the old school building!

> "Sekiryuutei Hyoudou Issei. Let me clearly explain it to you."

> Azazel spoke. Ooh, Governor. Please do so in a way even the stupid me can understand.

> "That ability halves everything in his surroundings"--Volume 4, Life 5, Part 2.

Half Dimension is a Space-Type ability that allows the wielder to compress the fabric of space in an area and use it to crush all inside of said area, it doesn't require the wielder to touch anyone as it's an AeO(Area of Effect) ability. With enough mastery however, the user can even use it in the base form of the Sacred gear, without them needing to go into Balance Breaker to use it.

That doesn't mean it can be unlocked before the wielder achieves Balance Breaker however.

3-Juggernaut Drive:

> After Vali gave Loki a chilling glare, he quietly began to chant.

> At the same time, a very bright aura is emitted from Vali! Each jewel on his armour gave off a rainbow-coloured glow.

> FLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!

> "I, who is about to awake-"

> <They are going to be blasted away!> <They certainly are going to be blasted away!>

> Voices that do not belong to Vali echo in the area. ....It must be the remaining thoughts of the past Hakuryuukou which are sleeping within. So it gives out a curse-like voice like this…..!? I realise it when I see it for myself. Maybe what I am trying to convince is actually an embodiment of the abyss.

> "Am the Heavenly Dragon who had the principles of domination stolen from everything-"

> <The dream will end!> <The illusion will begin!>

> "I envy the infinite, and I consider the dream-"

> <Everything!> <Yes, give us everything!>

> "I will master the path of domination of the White Dragon-"

> " " " " " " " " " "And I shall lure you to the utmost purity!" " " " " " " " " "

> [Juggernaut Drive!!!!!!!!!!]

> The whole abandoned mining ground was shining with a bright light. A huge output of light is flowing out from Fenrir's mouth, and it started to swallow Fenrir as well.

> Woooooooooooooow! I can feel an overwhelming power which I can't even calculate. It's so amazing that it paralysed my senses! So this is…

> "Kuroka! Transfer me and Fenrir to the allocated place!"

> Vali who is glowing with light commands that to Kuroka. Kuroka also smiles hearing that, and directs her hand at Vali, then starts to move her fingers in the air. If I look carefully, Vali's armour started to change. Is it an effect from using [Juggernaut Drive]? So the armour starts to change like that, huh.--Volume 7, Life 4, Part 2.

Divine Dividing's Juggernaut Drive, like its Boosted Gear counterpart, allows the wielder to access even more power from Heavenly Dragon sealed inside, it basically turns the Wielder's Balance Breaker armor into the shape of a miniature dragon, allows them way more raw power, output and performance over all.

Of course, just like it's counter part, the normal cost to activate this is burning one's lifespan to use it, and in a humans case? Just the activation means that the wielder is beyond dead, they can't pull an Issei and somehow survive, as they don't have thousand of years worth of Life span.

Vali, as a Descandent of Lucifer, has way too much Demonic Energy, and so he was able to use that as a fuel instead of his own life force, so that's that.

On a side note, I would like to mention something that bugged me when j read the novel. So, remember the Diodora game? Where Issei went Juggernaut Drive? In the anime, Vali comes to help and goes into Juggernaut Drive to have an epic fight with Issei and weaken him enough for them to wake him up.

Well, how do I say this? Just, read here:

> Vali turns into Balance Breaker immediately, wearing a white armour. He gets closer to Ise-kun while flapping his wings, and shortens his distance in god speed!

> The sound of Hakuryuukou which echoes through the area. At the same time, it feels like Ise-kun's power reduced quite a lot. Vali must have touched Ise-kun at the speed of light and activated his ability. It was thought to be impossible before, but because of the music Ise-kun started getting his consciousness back and worked.--Volume 6, Juggernaut Drive, Part 2.

Ignoring how everyone and their mother is suddenly a scientist and can measure if someone is moving at the speed of light or is just moving so fast they can't really know the difference really, we have this scene.

As you can see, all it took from Vali was to go into Balance Breaker and smack down Issei one time for the fight to basically end. This si very disappointing to be honest, but it is the canon so what can you do.

However, I would like to express my personal stance on this: I think that this is one of the fee times the anime pretty much outdid the novel, the sequence of events in the anime is simply way way better than whatever this is, so kudos for them, that fight was one of the best parts about DxD anime as a whole, of course season 4 fights were also somewhat good.

Anyways, this is the end of this rant, as I am only talking about Sacred gears in their normal forms, and anything beyond this form is just bullshit unique to the current weilders, so no need to bother with it. See you guys next time.
