Chapter 54 Preparing for even more Trouble(1)

With the six of us working together it was only a matter of time before all of them lay dead at our feet. How I wished Alice could join in the slaughter, she would have gained more than a few levels. With the increase in level and the demon miasma I was feeling great and I wished I could say the same for the others. They looked worse and worse the more they fought especially Synthia and it took me a few minutes to figure out why, the demon miasma. Angels and priests used holy energy instead of demonic energy which means they can't absorb demonic energy and if they do it would probably have a similar effect on them as the [Holy Territory] had on me. This also meant they weren't gaining any exp and si they weren't leveling up.

I put this information at the back of my head since it wasn't useful at the moment but it might be in the future. Now....there was only one small problem to take care of. The others and I walked over to the injured Greater imp who's injuries have healed a bit.

"You." He said looking at me and then coughed a bit.

"Yes, what about me?" I asked curious at what he was going to say.

"You managed to defeat Grox. It seemed lord Hans was right you will indeed be a worthy opponent." He said and I froze infact we all did. Wait a fucking minute, aren't these guys the entire group.

"Who is lord Hans?" I asked

"He is the leader of our small horde. He is also the strongest among us, way stronger than Grox." He said with a mocking smile on his face. He knew I barely survived my fight with Grox and he intentionally added the last statement to make us feel afraid and it was working.

"We were just the scouts and were sent here to see whether you were indeed strong and congratulations you passed our test." The Demon said the same mocking smile still on his face.

"When will they attack?" I asked

"For that, you'll have to wait and see." The Demon said

"Tell me now!" I said with a sinister tone in my voice and the Demon just laughed. I punched him in the face and he just continued laughing. I continued punching him over and over again but he just continued, I eventually just gave up and decapitated the Demon ending it's maniacal laughter.

"Synthia. On a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you think that we are fucked?" If the demon's words were true then 10 for sure.

"I don't think the Demon was lying so definitely 10. I need to get back to the mansion and prepare, if we are going to face an even bigger horde of imps then we are going to need way more priests." Synthia said and took to the sky with the others slowly running after her.

'I guess I need to go back to Alice.' And so I flew back to my house the bearer of bad news.

"We are so fucked." Alice said. I told her everything that had happened while we were gone and even a detailed account of my fight with Grox and she easily believed it as she felt the impact of the explosion from here. She was also using [Aura Vision] to monitor the fight as much as possible.

"Well as far as I see it we have two options. We can either run or we can stay and fight." I said with a sigh. I always have these two options and I always picked the same one.

"We are obviously going to stay and fight." She said and I nodded with a smile.

"If we are going to do that then we need a plan. The first thing we need to know is where they are hiding and then we can plan from there." I said, I knew they are hiding somewhere within the forest for two reasons. This entire city was surrounded by a forest that was around 10 km in diameter which means they were either nearby or the imps were incredibly fast. The second is that a group no matter the size needed food which the forest provided given you were strong enough.

"We need to scout the forest and search for the imps." I said

"Huh, won't Synthia and the others help?" Alice asked with a frown.

"No they won't have the time. They will be busy training the humans and hopefully they will get enough to be more than meat shields on the battle field." I said and I sincerely hoped that they will be strong enough to face whatever horrors we are going to face.
