"The System Count It!"

I stopped myself from running, but I was too far away to aid them in fighting.

Instead, I'm far enough to have a full view of the chaos in front of me.

Several magic flew in the air, making it like a scene from a war movie.

Ice, fire, wind, earth, water, electricity, and all kinds of elemental magic are being thrown. But after several minutes, all the attacking forces suddenly ran away, almost like they realised their magic didn't work.

They didn't get to run too far, as a laser beam penetrated all of them at the same time.

One of them managed to get away using Flicker and ended up several meters in front of me. Unfortunately, he's hit with that laser attack and desperately tries to close his wound with his hand.

He looked at me and reached out his hand.

"Help... Me.." He whimpered with slight tears in his eyes.

I... Couldn't move. It's like when I watched the old folks getting killed on the road in my first live.

I couldn't decide to help or run away. But despite that, I decided not to run.

I wanted to ask that monster something.

The guy is beyond hell and is clinging to his life.

The monster that did all this, Gabriel, emerged from the smoke caused by magic and walked towards us.

He walked past the dying guy and stood in front of me.

"Not going to run, fight or beg for your life?" He said while smiling.

"... Why?"

"Why what?"

"Don't play stupid, why did you do this?"

"Because I need to?"

"...need to?"

"Yea! The Boss Dungeon is strong, right? I need to get stronger if I want to kill it!"

"Was it necessary to go this far?"

"You bet! The main character needs to do whatever he can to save the world! And if it means using you guys as a shortcut to get stronger, then so be it!"

"... How did the system allow this?"

"Hah! It even encourages it!"

"It counted the amount of Awakened you killed?"

"Don't worry, once it reaches a hundred, I will stop killing awakened!"

"Stopped? After killing so many?"

"Hey! I'm no psychopath! I just needed more skill since I couldn't get more in the system shop! So I decided to kill at least a hundred Awakened to get a useful skill to save the world! After that, I vow to not do it again!"

"I'm an antihero of course! I need to at least have made a dark decision or two to accomplish my goals!"

"... Huh?"

"I said that's a stupid reason. You could absorb the monsters too right? You could've hunted them all down, gotten stronger and saved the world. Sounds to me you're just greedy and want all the skill for yourself"

He went silent but still had a creepy smile on him.

"So? I'm the last one right? Why didn't you kill me?"

"Because it doesn't matter if kill you, right?"

"So you knew?"

"Of course! You are level 1 with the stat of 41, and have a Skill called "the will of a cat", I'm sure that's a reincarnation skill right?"

Huh, he pretty much got it, perhaps it's his high intelligence stat.

"Still, I wonder, how did you get 2 special skills?"

I stay silent.

"Fine then keep your secret, by the way, I won't kill you since it might reset the world, sounds like a pain right?"

I can't kill him either. So... Do I just let him do what he wants? Even if his method is wrong, at least it's one of the solutions to save the world. Maybe he's the main character...

Before he finished talking, a portal suddenly appeared directly beside us.

The inside of the portal is a void of black and white, and distorted.

A sharp sensation hit me and I jumped far away from the portal. Gabriel however is still near the portal, but he's prepared himself for whatever the portal is for.

He muttered something like "Are they inviting me or something?"

Soon, he also gets away from the portal.

Several seconds later, something came out of the portal.

What's that...

It appeared to be a knight with a spear. He's tall, about 190 cm ( 6'2 ft? ) His armour seems fancy, so it is his spear. An elite warrior? Royal knight?

After coming out of the portal, he turned towards Gabriel and pointed his spear. Gabriel responds by getting into a stance.

The knight said something incomprehensible towards Gabriel, but his tone seemed to be threatening.

After that, in a fraction of a second, both of them disappeared, and a Shockwave exploded in the air.

I was pushed back by the wave and ended up several meters away.
