Truth About Her Skills

"Aw... The tails would be enough for me then," said Layla, sadly shoving down another handful.

"I don't know if I'm going to be sick if I continue watching you or crying because you are eating dead Dragoons…" said Matt, facing away from the happy Dragoon.

"I don't know which Dragoons you've killed but I sure as hell know that I haven't slaughtered any to get these tails," said Teemo, confused.

"What do you mean?" quizzed the Loplin.

"Dragoons shed their tails every five years. And since I do not have a tail, it's hard to have some as my snack. And for regular Dragoons, if they were starving, they could cut off their tails to eat them," replied Layla.

"So having these tails is like a privilege for you?" asked Teemo.

"Mhm!"

The Dragoon's look at the Felidae made his heart flutter as she continued chowing down.

"You could've said that the tails aren't from slaughtering Dragoons… Could've prevented me from having a heart attack."

"You never clarified… But there's still something I want to ask Teemo…" said Layla, tugging on the Felidae's cape.

"What is it, cutie?" smirked Teemo as he went closer to the Dragoon, much to the annoyance of the bunny.

"I know that there's something else within that Healing Crystal used on me, or else it wouldn't be so potent. So spit it out and tell me what you've used in there," threatened Layla as she smiled.

If the devil had a maiden, it would be Layla right now, thought Teemo as he met her grin with his chuckle.

"Oi, floppy ears… Are you sure she's just a Tavern owner and not some undercover Royal Guard member?" joked the Felidae as he turned to the pouting bunny.

"Let's just say my nose is better than my fighting skills…"

"You've got a keen sense of smell then… Well, I'm sorry to say that there are Dragoon wings in there, but specifically…"

"From a young one, I don't think it's anywhere more than 5 years old…" finished Layla.

Teemo seemed impressed while Matt looked disgusted.

"I don't particularly like it when my kind gets slaughtered but to know that at least some parts are used in Healing items sounds like a better idea than just thrown away," explained Layla as she reached out to Matt.

"I guess I also owe you an explanation… About my combat skills. I'm not a shut-in, as you've seen from both battles that you've fought with me but I am telling the truth when I say I'm not skilled enough."

"You sell yourself so low that I swear I might bonk you on the head… Layla, you performed beyond my expectations…" said Matt as he ruffled the girl's hair.

"I get the confusion then… You've got good qualities, cutie. However, you have no clue when it comes to the Magecraft world. It's fine, you can learn as you go. But now that I know your weakness, it's time for me to get you geared up."

"After we've got something else to eat because I can hear the bunny's stomach growling from here," said Teemo, beckoning the duo to follow him.

"And no worries, I'm not going to turn you into a cannibal. Would you like some mashed potatoes and soup or would you rather have some steamed vegetables?" added Teemo.

"I'm craving for a vegetable soup right about now… And please… No more special ingredients. I hate having to find surprises in my food," pleaded the Loplin.

"But they had healing properties... And it makes the dishes taste so much better..."

"No! After eating some of your cooking, I need healing!"

As they moved to another room, Layla grabbed a bunch of tails and quickly followed the males. The room had two doors, one that led back to the massive cave, and the other, to a small hallway.

The area was lined with fire torches, its amber-orange flames giving off a cozy vibe. The trio then went into a room that looked similar to the previous room they had been in, the only difference being that the room was fitted as a kitchen with a dining room table in the center.

"Not bad for someone who runs a shady-looking place… What do you use for fuel? Wood or coal?" asked Layla, as she took a seat at the table.

"Crystals. More specifically, Fire Crystals. More potent and lasts way longer than firewood or coal."

"Plus, if I'm done with cooking, I can grab it out and shove it in my pocket to bring to another place to use it at," explained the Felidae as he took out a giant red shard and shoved it into the stove's fuel capacity.

"How much longer? And isn't it too expensive compared to regular wood?" asked Matt as he stood in the middle of the room.
