Someone got caught

It's hot... My throat feels parch. I don't feel like going to school... Should I skip school today? ... Right. I forgot today is a public holiday. That means I don't have to skip school.

"Let's go to the zoo!!!"

My bedroom's door slams open in a loud noise startling me a little. Right... Yukio is still staying with us. After he recovers from his cold, he lets me sleep in my room because he felt guilty for taking my bed. That's how I got to sleep in my room.

"Shun-chan! Let's go to the zoo! Let's go!"

I facepalm. He is like a child. So childish. If I compare him with my little sister, Aimi is a lot maturer than him even though these two are at the same age. Now, what do I do with him?

"Okay."

"Yes! I'll go get ready. Aimi-chan, do you want to join?"

I can hear a small 'No' from the living room as I get off my bed. I check the clock to make sure of something and I was right. I wake up later than usual. No wonder my little sister and Yukio are up earlier than me. Plus, when I go out of my room, I see my little sister in her outdoor clothes, eating her breakfast.

"Are you going somewhere?"

"Yeah. I'm going out with my friends. Don't wait for me, okay? I sleep over at Kohana's house. Just us girls."

She adds the last sentence as to not worry me and chuckles in amusement watching my reaction. She knows how overprotective I am towards her.

-----

We leave together before I lock the door. Aimi will be using the bicycle to drop her things off at Kohana's place while Yukio and I walk to the train station.

"I can't believe I get to enjoy my day off together with Shun-chan. It's been a long time since we last had fun, right? Wow, how long was it? 2 years? Or is it 3 years?"

I watch Yukio with a smile as he becomes excited to spend time with me. I feel like we are getting too much attention from the people in our surroundings. But, it's fine as long as Yukio is happy. How can I destroy his happy mood, right?

-----

After paying for tickets of two, Yukio excitedly enters the entrance gate with a camera hanging back and forth on his neck. He readies the camera in his hand when he found something interesting.

The monkey in the cage stops eating their banana to pose for Yukio in front of his camera. It's a surprise because that monkey knows it has to smile to get a nice picture of it taken by Yukio.

-----

We see many types of animals here. Several of them are almost instinct. If not for the zoo taking care of them and raising them, they probably would be extinct by now.

I lost track of time when we are having fun. Yukio kept dragging me everywhere from each cage to another cage. Oh. That lion looks cool.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I think I saw someone familiar and I was right. It's my little sister's classmate, Akihiko and... A girl? Those two are laughing together while leaning close to each other. They almost seem like lovers. Is that his girlfriend?

He took notice of me and quickly distance himself from his girlfriend. She tries to cling onto his arm again but he whispers something in her ear and she walks off somewhere.

Heh!

Yukio notices me smirking and wonders what am I looking at. Not too far from where we are standing, Akihiko starts approaching us.

"What a coincidence."

Yukio turns around to see who am I talking to. He looks at Akihiko in confusion before realization hit him.

"I will go buy something and leave you two to talk."

Yukio excuses himself and runs off. He takes a glance at us before continuing to walk to a stall nearby.

"I did not know you got a girlfriend."

He's been quiet while standing before me. I know what's up in his mind. He must be thinking of a reason to deny his situation.

"You got a girlfriend but you dare chase after my little sister. Have you got no shame?"

"..."

He still isn't talking. His face pales under the bright sun. His eyes are everywhere trying not to meet my eyes. He probably not expecting to meet me here and caught him with his girlfriend.

"What is senior doing here?"

That's the question he gonna ask? He can do better than that.

"Enjoying my free time at the zoo, what else?"

"You better not tell Aimi."

Great. His true self is back. Now his eyes are finally on me.

"Or else? What are you gonna do if I tell her?"

"If you do, I will make sure to make you suffer at school."

"You are in no condition to threaten me."

My words take an effect on him causing him to grabs my collar with both his hands. People around us are watching with a worried faces. Some of them yell at him to stop fighting. I slap his hands away.

"What do you think you are doing to Shun-chan?"

Yukio stands between us with his arms spread out to stop Akihiko from causing more trouble. His small build is standing out when he stands in the middle of us who are taller than him. While Yukio glares at him, Akihiko raises his brow, staring down at him.

"I did not expect this."

Still staring down at Yukio, he smirks making Yukio get even more furious. Akihiko turns around and walks to his girlfriend.

"I thought you two were friends that's why I left you two to talk in private."

"He's not my friend. He is Aimi's classmate. No. More like a pest trying to chase after her."

"Sorry, I didn't know."

"It's fine. He could not hurt me."

I pat his head, assuringly.

"Thanks for standing up for me. You look cute just now."

"C-Cute? Come on, don't tease me! Which part of me do you think is cute?"

"Your height."

Somehow, I could see an arrow stabbing right into his heart after I said that. I chuckle seeing his sad expression.

"It's getting late. Is there anything else you want to do? If not, let's go home."

He shakes his head furiously while glaring at me. He is still not done moping about what I said.

"Let's go home."

I pull him along. He just let me drag him and keep staring at me from behind. I feel trouble when he's staring at me like that. Well, it is my fault for saying that.
