"Why are you helping him" Maya started to ask. There was a lot of questions on her mind, the magnitude of the questions she kept bottled up confused the more she tried to piece them together.

"Because, I know what he is"

"And that is... Of course a werewolf" Arya continued before Maya could answer"

The whole thing just sounded pretty dumb to her, she knew that Derek wasn't ordinary, but a werewolf. That was something out of a folktale.

She didn't want to believe it, she wanted another explanation as to what had happened tonight.

"I know you don't want to believe it" Arya broke her thoughts as if she had read her mind "but that's the truth and nothing you think about or say can change it"

At this point, all Arya wanted was for Derek to wake up so she could be sure they both got back to the hotel before they had to move out in a few hours.

As though the universe was giving her signs, Derek groaned and turned to the other side of the bed but didn't wake up. He just made himself more comfortable and continued his deep sleep.

"Arya, or whatever it is. Your friend is a werewolf, are you trying to tell me that you didn't know all this while? How then are you friends"

Those words got her thinking, she remembered back then when she had seen Derek all beat up with his clothes torn and his bruises started to heal right in front of her eyes, no normal person healed that way. Even if their ability was a healing ability it would take some more time still unless one was dealing with a A rank healing ability. Derek was just a first year, he was no where close to that.

Or the time when they had been on the expedition and the Ogre attacked. Derek had been there and then the next moment he wasn't, it was like he vanished. Before that, the monster had whacked him around like a baseball and he turned up at the infirmary without injuries.

Or the time where he displayed otherworldly reflexes, she had stared at him and felt the chills. Of course Maya might have been right, she was just the one running from reality.

She stared at Derek where he lay peacefully on the bed, Maya had managed to get most of the blood off him but he still needed a bath.

Once again he had blood on him but there were no injuries. Whenever it came to Derek, things never really added up.

It took Derek almost an extra hour to wake from his slumber. He sat up on the bed like a soldier of the undead and looked at his surrounding. Arya had dozed off on the armchair where she sat, the events of the night had been so exhausting.

Derek paused at the edge of the bed, he started hearing 'ding' sounds in his head. A screen popped up in front of his eyes and the notifications started to flood in.

<Would you like to level up?>

Derek was surprised by the notifications that were popping up on the screen.

'What is this? He asked the voice that was always in his head'

<Took you quite the time> the system replied him.

<Your transformation has activated your system fully and enabled levelling up. You will now complete tasks and quests in order to level up to your full potential> the system concluded.

Seeing the screen now in his front and all the information on it, Derek was now starting to take the system a little bit more serious.

"What does this levelling up do?" Derek asked, looking at the message on the screen in front of his eyes

The system made what sounded like a sound of scorn at Derek. <What exactly do they teach kids here on earth? You lack sufficient knowledge as to what level up means?> the system questioned back.

"Of course, I know what it means to level up. What does it do to me? What does it mean for me, that's what I want to know." Derek fired back

<Don't you want to find out?> the system asked back

The systems method of answering Derek's questions with questions were beginning to get under his skin, so he decided to ignore the system for now and play along as it goes even though he had a lot of questions.

He felt like asking the system those questions will feel him with displeasure instead of answers, he was already experiencing disconcerting headaches from the events of the past hours which were still a blur in his memory.

He shifted his focus from the screen in front of his eyes and onto Arya who sat sleeping on the armchair. As his focus shifted, the screen disappeared from his view. Derek was about to panic because he was still deliberating on what to do even though he was already inclined towards picking 'Yes'.

But unconsciously as his attention left the physical realm and he willed the screen to show, it instantly appeared in his view once again.

In the event of his temporal panic, while moving back to his position on the bed, he stepped on a loose paper that lay on the floor.

Arya immediately sprang to her feet with a small knife in her hand, she was about to throw it outward until she recognised Derek, without a trace of sleep in her eyes, the knife vanished just as quickly as it had appeared, her eyes shone clearly like still water and she stared straight at Derek

Even Derek had not managed to see her draw the knife nor return it. He only stood there gaping in shock, wondering which part of his body would have had a hole in it.

"You're awake" she said curtly

"Where am I?"
