Rising Suspicions

"Yea. I'm fine!" The words Amber said, echoed in her ears as she stared at her.

Doe could only sight at this.

The usual gingerly attitude was gone. Her shoulders were sagged and her looks, morose. What was left of the everytime energetic friend she had was more of a worn down machine.

It brought questions to her heart as she watched after the leaving jalopy and the rider in the motorbike. What had happened in this place? She questioned herself.

But she would not probe. Amber had said that there was nothing to be bothered about, so that she would take. Her heart did not agree with this thigh. It ached and churned within her chest as she stood still.

In her life, in the life she had come to live now, she had made sure she was always clean off the charts. It was one of the reasons why she had come to this neighborhood make her place of residence. People always minded their business in here.

If you did not live in a flat or a mansion, then whatever happened there was none of the business of any other person. Even the security guards preinstalled in the houses had to know this.

That was why they would never interfere unless it was a case that really did threaten the security of lives and properties in the estate.

In her time that she'd spent here so far, she had never seen something like this. The suspicious aura those people had. It made her skip a nasty as she returned to gaze at Amber.

"Are you done here?" Amber asked, forcing a smile to her face.

Doe nodded at her. She looked backwards at the door now, gesturing to the people inside. From the see through glass, one could see the lady attendant already packaged everything into boxes and was attaching a thank you card tk them. She pasted it to the outsides of the bags now.

"I guess we don't have to worry about the delivery now. They would get them to my place of residence. This means…" Doe sucked in air through her teeth as she turned to the door, walking briskly only to stop suddenly. "I have to inform Thomas. He won't allow the deliveries tk be completed if I did not give him a heads up."

"Aw… isn't that too task-ey for his job? What concerns him with whatever deliveries come to your door?" Amber asked as she rolled after her friend, the latter, opening the door for them to get inside.

"Yeas, I know. But it is my house and it is my rules." Doe said to to her with a smile on her face.

She was dressed in a black tank top and had a large jacket of different colors over her body.

One arm of the jacket has a red color while the other arm had a green color. The rest of the body of jacket having a dull blue green color.

She had a pair of jeans down below and some really not so good looking shoes on her legs.

Amber frowned at this.

In contrast to her fiend, Amber was dressing rather good. She had a body hugging gown on her body. It hugged her body tight and made to sure each and every of her curvatures. She as literally an eye candy, accentuated by the pink color of the gown and the black jacket she had on her waist.

She did have a bit of thing for jackets. Which was why even though she was wearing a gown and white Jordans, she had still picked the jacket to attach to her waist.

She was fashion conscious. But being with her friend and the not so good pair of shoes, she frowned at this.

It was about time she set Doe right. At least, for the period of Time that she stayed with her. Doe's wardrobe had to see a clear upgrade in the state of the art clothing's after all, Doe was rich and she could afford those things. So then… What was stopping her from getting them?

"Hey, why are you wearing that?" She asked, coming in close to Doe now while the latter turned towards the counter, collecting her card.

"What do you mean?" Doe asked her, raising an eyebrow at her. The question seemed to be off, at least to Doe.

"I mean…" Amber said, tuwisting her lips with a sly smile on her face. "I mean that you have to consider giving yourself a face lift with your shoes." She said.

She was not sure whether or not it was a good thing to approach the topic with Doe. Considering how the latter basically glowered at her.

"If you want to insult my shoe choices, then I dont like it. Not everybody can be like you, Amber." Doe flashed a smile as she moved to hug her friend, then pat her cheeks.

"Thank you miss. You should get your patronage soon enough." The elderly man at the counter said to them.

"Yes, so we are free to go?" Doe asked.

"Yes, unless the lady wants to get some more promising attires to add to her collections? And oh," the man smiled faintly, a spark in his eyes. Ikr the lady's friend suggested, maybe you want to try some shoes." He added.

"Oh yes. We do want to try some shoes." Amber blurted out as she disengaged form the hug and tried to pull Doe after her.

But Doe shook her head instantly, squeezing her face.

"No. I don't want to. At least not now. Look, I don't want to do this and you should not push me on it."

"Okay… fine! But you're not going out with me in those shoes." Amber added while she stepped beside Doe, walking out from the door.

Doe sighed, moving after her. Once they were outside, she patted Amber by the shoulder, making the latter turn to her. And then with a cold look, she approached her friend, her eyes menacingly observing her form.

"Hey, you have something you want to tell me?"
