Devil in a Cultivation World

Zagred, after suffering defeat due to him underestimating his opponents, is offered the chance to be able to wield godlike powers that the Exalted Devil was capable of wielding. After seeing the Exalted Devil's fight against the Utmost Entity, a fight where they were destroying galaxies like they were nothing, where even the most powerful people that were residing in that universe were nothing than mere ants, Zagred become obsessed with the pursuit of not becoming the strongest, but rather, becoming someone capable of wielding such powers.

The Beginning of the End

Something else that piqued Zagred's interest were the devils that were residing in that world. He wondered what they were like, thus, he asked, "Why did senior say that the devil race is fundamentally different from this universe's devils? And what are their characteristics?"

The Exalted Devil without even thinking replied, "The devil race that is residing in that universe is more focused on the benefits they get as devils. Some humans, or even other creatures, can become devils. They only kill not for the sake of enjoyment, but only for benefits. Their appearances also somewhat resemble humans, whereas the devils from this universe only some."

Zagred saw that the Exalted Devil talks so much about humans, thus, he asked, "Is the human race the most prominent?"

The Exalted Devil nodded and then continued his story, "Then I advanced in strength by cultivating. As I was in a whole different world, while it may sound exciting, it was a frightening experience as I was constantly anxious about my well-being. I was weak and at that moment, I just wanted to protect myself. Thus, I immersed myself into cultivation. With my hard work, I was able to get to this point. It took me only one billion years."

As the Exalted Devil reached this point of the story, he smiled weakly and continued, "Then, I found out that a treasure that would be able to help me transcend mortality appeared in a dimension where the beast race was dominant. Then, I met the Utmost Entity. We clashed and it won. I don't think it was able to transcend mortality and become a God."

[A/N: Just wanted to say that the dimension that they were fighting was boundless. I don't want to try to explain, probably you already understand what I'm trying to get to. If you don't, please say so so I can try to rewrite some of the things that could be misunderstood.]

The curious Zagred asked, "Who is this Utmost Entity?"

"It was one of the overlords of the universe. There were one hundred and eight overlords and five hundred and forty generals. Each overlord had five generals, and the Sacred Ground that the Utmost Entity ruled over was one of the strongest. While I was an overlord, I was not the strongest, but my ambition to become a God, to become omnipotent, was growing even more as time passed."

Then, the Exalted Devil asked the little devil, "So? Did you choose? What will it be, a life without worries, yet a mortal nonetheless, or a life full of struggle where nothing is certain?"

The Exalted Devil already knew that Zagred would accept, but he still had to ask.. Zagred, still having questions, asked, "Of course I want to live a life full of struggle! Who wouldn't want? Hehe. But this little one has some questions. If senior can get me to that universe, why doesn't senior go back by himself? I'm sure it would be much better for senior. Also, why me?"

The Exalted Devil lightly smiled seeing that Zagred was now more easy going than when he first arrived here and he said, "Well, when I picked up the stone so that I can throw it at a lower ranked devil, it started shining then I ended up in that universe. After that, while wanting to pursue eternal life, I also wanted to know what that stone was. And that stone has something to do with the multiverse itself! While I can't explain this to you since it requires years of understanding, I can give you a brief description. What that stone had inside was a special type of energy, which activated by coincidence when I picked it up. After I found out about this, I wanted to acquire this type of energy myself. I searched for methods of cultivating such energy, but to no avail. I then searched for objects that had this kind of energy, but I only found one. And that object had almost the exact same quantity of energy as the stone that I picked up."

Then, he continued, "As for why you, while not purely out of coincidence, I chose you because you met my requirements. I can't choose creatures that are familiar with this universe as much as having lived thousands of years, but you are only five hundred years old."

Then, the Exalted Devil sighed as he looked towards Zagred with a satisfied look on his face, "You found out that I have the ability to get you to that universe. While not a big achievement, I'll try to praise you."

"You are smarter than a dog.", the Exalted Devil said.

The Exalted Devil was not surprised that Zagred found out that he had that ability, he would be disappointed if he didn't.

'I'm smarter than a dog? What kind of praise is this? Tell me something I don't know!', thought Zagred, but didn't dare to voice this out.

"Well, shall we begin?", the Exalted Devil asked.

Zagred nodded. While he still had questions, he too was impatient to go there.

The Exalted Devil gathered a bit of energy, and Zagred could see that something that resembled a black hole started appearing. While it was only a dozen meters or so, it was quite astounding.

"Before you enter the portal, I have something important to tell you.", the Exalted Devil said with a serious look. After Exalted Devil Ling had said that, Zagred was all ears. He wanted to know what was so important that Exalted Devil wanted to tell him.

"You can't keep your devil body. It's not that I don't want to, but rather, there are some things even I don't understand. While I am able to get you there, I can't get your body there. You'll get another body, but I have no idea what body.", the Exalted Devil said. He felt that Zagred will still agree nonetheless.
