Chapter 80: Relationships

"I'm back!"

Brunhilde tilted her head against the couch and lazily said. "Welcome home."

Zenkichi blinked, looking around the house in confusion. "Where's mom? Also, are you wearing my shirt?"

"Hitomi-san said she's working overtime, something about an emergency surgery and a new intern she's training." Brunhilde calmly replied as she chewed on some chips and went back to watching the movie called "Gods of Egypt". "I swear, you humans can be the most creative and endearing, but this? I'm Norse but even I feel offended by how inaccurate this movie is."

"Then why keep watching it?"

"Cause I haven't watched it yet."

"Make sense..." Zenkichi muttered as he went to the kitchen. Ever since his bloodline evolved to a Divine Infernal, his appetite had increased significantly. He opened the fridge and was relieved to find it well-stocked with food. He grabbed a few ingredients and started cooking himself a late dinner.

As Zenkichi prepared his meal, Brunhilde glanced over at him, her curiosity piqued. "So, what's new? Did you and that girl you were out with have a good time?"

Zenkichi nodded, a soft smile tugging at his lips. "Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Went to an arcade and then ended the day running around a amusement park."

Brunhilde pouted. "Ah, that sounds so fun..."

"Don't worry, I'll bring you to someplace fun as well." Zenkichi replied.

Brunhilde smiled and said. "Good. Honestly though, I thought you weren't coming tonight."

"Why would I not be home? This is my house."

"Eh, it's your mom's."

Zenkichi's lips twitched. "Same thing."

"Whatever." Brunhilde rolled her eyes. "But, you know what I'm saying. I thought you and, what's her name?"

"Nekomi."

"Right, right. You and Nekomi were going to her home or a hotel to do..." She made a circle with her left hand and extended her right index finger into the circle. "Y'know?"

"We're just friends, Brunhilde! We weren't going to do anything like that..." Zenkichi slightly blushed. "Yet..."

Brunhilde turned towards him, slightly climbing onto the couch with her long white legs, she leaned forward with a mischievous wide grin.

"Oho...Yet, you say? My, my. You've already got this Valkyrie here at home," she crossed her arms under her chest, as she leaned further, her chest slightly pushing out. "Why would you need someone else?"

Zenkichi's nervously chuckled. "Brunhilde, please...stop teasing me."

He still wasn't used to the idea that he got a wife? Honestly, he wasn't exactly sure of their relationship. He considers Brunhilde as a friend no doubt but he has never gotten a girlfriend before, much less a wife from that whole Völundr thing, so he doesn't know how to exactly act around her.

It was even weirder that she doesn't seem to mind that he was going out on dates with other girls.

'Is she like those girls who think it isn't weird for powerful men to have multiple wives? But, this is Brunhilde we're talking here! The Valkyrie whose boyfriend betrayed her and both ended up dead because!' Zenkichi paused, tilting his head in confusion. 'Eh, according to my world's legend about her that is. She's from Record of Ragnarok, a world full of inaccuracies in my world's point of view. So I don't really know anymore.'

Brunhilde chuckled and leaned back, crossing her legs and getting comfortable on the couch again. "Alright, alright. No need to get all bashful. Just making sure you know you've got options, my dear Einherjar."

Zenkichi shook his head, and went to get some utensils as his food was ready. "Thanks, Brunhilde. But Nekomi and I are...well, I don't really know? We just went out to have fun, with a bit of hugs and kisses mixed in, and ended the day feeling happy."

Brunhilde tilted her head, "So... She's your girlfriend now?"

"I don't know! We didn't put any labels on it and it was just a first date, so... a bit too soon to say." Zenkichi replied, grabbing his plate of food and sitting down at the dining table.

Brunhilde shook her head. "Well, you better decide soon. Although she came to you first? Actually, did she?"

Zenkichi nodded.

"Right. Although she came to you first, it's ultimately your decision on whether to stop this or advance the relationship. Because trust me when I say that if you don't make a decision soon, it'll cause emotional damage to both of you in the end."

Zenkichi was silent for a moment, looking down in contemplation.

"...What about you? What do you think of all this, Brunhilde?"

"Me?"

"I brought you to this world, whisk you away from your responsibility of bringing salvation to your world's humanity, and even though we're like, married or something, I'm going out with other girls. I'm just, so confused. Shouldn't you be angry? Frustrated or something?"

Brunhilde went silent for a moment.

She let out a sigh. "Zenkichi, do you know why I brought up Ragnarok to the Gods? I had, other reasons other than to save humanity."

"...Is it revenge against the Gods?"

"Yes," Brunhilde admitted with a solemn expression. "I wanted revenge for what they did to me. I was discriminated due to my existence, I was given a duty I never wanted, my former lover betrayed me due to their mechanisms and imprisoned him when they almost broke me."

"I was bubbling with hatred and anger, I wanted to kill the Gods, no, I want to humiliate them! For what they had done to not only to me but to others as well! We are not their toys."

Brunhilde chuckled, a broken expression flickering through her eyes. "Especially my divine father, the so called All-Father, who had put me through all kinds of Hel. And I meant that literally, as when I was just a mere hundred years old he immediately placed me in Hel and made me bathed in numerous pools of blood of every kind of species throughout the Heavens and Earth."

She looked up at Zenkichi, straight at his eyes. "So when you killed him and made a show of killing that fire bitch Amaterasu, I felt a great sense of relief and satisfaction unlike previous matches in Ragnarok. It was then and now, that I swore to follow you to death."

Zenkichi looked at her, a serious expression on his face. "Are you sure you won't regret this?"

Brunhilde smirked. "I have a lot of regrets in my life, this though? Never."

"Also, if you're worried about Ragnarok happening back in my homeworld, I still got Göll on text and call to sort things out. It's time for that girl to finally step up anyway." Brunhilde waved her hand.

Zenkichi looked at Brunhilde, a mix of emotions crossing his face. In the end, he let out a sigh and smiled.

"If that's what you decided, then I'll also think through this situation with Nekomi more seriously. And Brunhilde, I promise you this, I'll make sure your stay with me is worthwhile. Whether we're just friends or something more, I want you to feel valued and appreciated."

Brunhilde nodded, her eyes shimmering with gratitude. "Thank you, Zenkichi. That means a lot to me."

They sat in a comfortable silence for a while, Brunhilde watching her television with a gentle smile while Zenkichi softly ate his food.

'Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I got this new function that shows me how others feel about me.' Zenkichi thought as he pulled up his system.

But she considers herself not an easy girl and not one who would easily devote herself to someone else other than herself.

Nekomi Nabeshima – Love Interest(4 Stars Favorability): She considers you to be interesting and fun, she was attracted by your mysterious aura. Though she was cautious and distrusting of you at first, but after that first date you both had, she completely warmed herself to you.

Shigusa Takachiho – Friend(3 Stars Favorability): He considers you as a good guy.

Gun – Weirdo(4 Stars Favorability): He considers you as an interesting specimen.

Kouki Akune – Enemy(–3 Stars Favorability): He hates you with a passion for putting him in the hospital.

Although there was a lot of interesting information of the people on his system screen, Zenkichi's attention was entirely focused on a certain person.
