Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just couldn't find any good art for the cover.... Is this fine? Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 34: Dream

It felt cold, extremely so, that was all Zenkichi felt as he couldn't see anything. Like he was stuffed in a freezer with no lights on.

But no, it wasn't just the temperature that was bothering him. It was the fact that he couldn't move, that his body was completely paralysed. He couldn't even blink.

Zenkichi tried to speak, to call out for help, but his throat was frozen too. He was trapped, helpless, and alone.

Seconds turned into minutes, minutes into hours, or at least that's what it felt like. Time seemed to stand still in this dark, icy void.

What happened? He couldn't remember the of events that led to this moment. He had recalled walking down the hallway to find the fifth member of his club and...blank.

Was he hit in the head and got kidnapped by the mysterious organization? No, that can't be right, Zenkichi denied such a thought. He wasn't that absentminded, he'd trained and accumulated enough combat experience to feel his surroundings and attack anyone that sends out malicious intent.

As he was pondering on his situation, there was a flicker of blue light.

Zenkichi strained his eyes, trying to focus on the small, distant glow. Slowly but surely, it started to grow brighter and larger, until finally, it filled his entire field of vision.

And then, he heard a voice.

"Listen well, ye of impure blood. This is a prophecy of a powerful and old being, the Sealed King." It sounded old and young at the same time, he could tell however that it was a female voice.

'Who are you?' Zenkichi inwardly questioned, as he couldn't speak. Hoping whoever was talking could hear him.

The voice didn't tell him her name, she continued to say, "After 900 years of being sealed, he would regain his pulse;"

Suddenly, an image started to appear before Zenkichi, it was a heart. And it wasn't just any heart, it was pulsing with a dark and ominous energy.

Tendrils of blue energy started to converge around Zenkichi's body, wrapping around him like a cocon. Yet, he could still clearly see the image in front of him.

"After another 90, he would regain his intellect;"

The heart dissipated and a human brain replaced it, sparks of blue electrical energy started to travel through it, illuminating its contours.

"And he would absorb the power of every "impure" Quincy to make their abilities his own, regaining his strength after 9 more years. Then, he will rend this world asunder and remake it in his image."

The image disappeared, and the blue energy dissipated. Zenkichi suddenly felt his body burning up, his body bursting into a ball of blue fire, but he strangely didn't feel any pain.

It was a warm sensation, akin to being soaked in warm water, and suddenly he felt a strange and familiar energy coursing throughout his body. The strange energy permeates every fiber of his being; through his skin, muscles, bones, blood, etc. filling him with a power he had never felt before.

"Ahhh~" It felt so good that Zenkichi... couldn't help out but let out a moan.

"Pfft–!" The mysterious voice chortled, "You're certainly an amusing one, Zenkichi. Don't get too distracted though, for you are now the key to prevent the Sealed King's resurrection."

Zenkichi tried to reply, to ask what he needed to do, but all he could do was groan. The warmth was still coursing through him, and he couldn't focus on anything else.

"Remember this, Zenkichi. You now possess the power of a Quincy, the ability to manipulate spiritual particles. Use it well, for the fate of the world rests on your shoulders."

With those words, the blue fire that consumed Zenkichi dissipated, the bright light gone, leaving him standing in the darkness once more.

He took a deep breath, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Did he just receive some sort of power to save the world? And who was that mysterious voice?

"Shit. Did I become some sort of chosen one?"

Zenkichi shook his head, knowing he had to focus. He needed to find a way out of this freezing darkness, and fast. Because if what that voice said was true, then there was a powerful being going after his ass for his abilities.

And he was not about to let that happen.

"..ke up..." Suddenly, he heard a voice, and it wasn't the one he had been talking to before.

"Who–" Zenkichi tried to say something but he felt a sudden pulling feeling and in the next moment, he was gone.

.....

It took a lot of effort on her part for her not to break her character and start laughing like some lunatic.

"Ah, even though you're no longer the same man that I've known and loved, you still dare to make me feel this way." She giggled and rested her chin on her left palm, her half-lidded eyes staring at the empty classroom she once attended with her...friends.

How strange and sad it was. She was a woman that had been alive since before the creation of the universe, meeting and interacting with all kinds of people throughout the ages, being part of history itself, the inventor of most of the stuff in history, and little boy that hadn't lived a tenth of his overall lifespan made her feel so...vulnerable.

"Can it be love?" She gasped, holding a hand over her chest. There was a brief moment before she started giggling, "Hahaha. W-Why am I being so cheesy? Really..."

Her smiling expression slowly fell as she slumped over her desk, her arms crossed before her, as the light around the classroom slowly dim.

'Is this my true feelings? Or is it the work of the man from beyond this wall of reality?' She closed her eyes, letting out a sigh, as an inky darkness started slowly spreading like a growing stain across the floor.

She had a job to do, a mission to complete. And emotions had no place in that.

After all, she was just a fragmented soul of the main body that was left as both a contingency plan and a safeguard for one of the boys she was interested in. She was less than even a clone of her true self.

'Though, I hope he likes my final gift to him.' She smiled.

With a deep breath, she straightened up and opened her eyes once more. The darkness around her retreated, and the room was lit again.

"I'm not giving up that easily, **** System." She faintly smirked, raising her hands,

Her short red skirt swayed as she walked forward, hips swaying, showing off her creamy long legs. She wore a sailor uniform with light pink shirt with a dark red trim, matching her skirt, she also wears two pink wrist bands and thigh high black socks.

Her dark brown eyes gleamed with an arrogant light and her very long, dark brown hair tied up with two yellow ribbons became unbound as a golden throne started to appear underneath her feet.

She smoothly took a seat upon the golden throne, she then took an arrogant pose as dozens, hundreds of chains started to come out nowhere and start to converge around her protectively.

"My name is Ajimu Najimi, the second resident of this dreamscape and one of the rulers of this realm. As I have said numerous times, I will not give up. I will set my main body free, banish you all from this universe, and set things right once more."

There was a brief moment of silence.

[...I shall ask you once more. Submit.] Suddenly, a familiar blue screen appeared a few feet before the Ajimu's face. But unlike when it appears before Zenkichi, this system showed complete apathy and more mechanical.

Ajimu merely grinned and raised her right hand, and a theme song started to play, "I refuse."

And so, hundreds and thousands of chains started shooting off like bullets towards the blue screen.

[❄️❄️❄️]

And I am back! Just bloody woke up. Goddamn did we not get a single day of rest, hell, we had to go to campus on Sunday for a final P.E. performance.
