Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just couldn't find any good art for the cover.... Is this fine? Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 102: Two Kings

The room is vast and adorned with intricately carved columns and walls, covered in extravagant hieroglyphic designs. The floor is made of polished marble, reflecting the light of the golden candelabras suspended from the arched ceiling. The room's high ceiling is adorned with elaborate frescoes depicting scenes from ancient Egyptian mythology and triumphs of a great king.

At the center of the room stands a majestic and intimidating throne, elevated on a dais made of gold and encrusted with precious gems. The backrest of the throne is in the shape of a magnificent sun disk. The armrests are adorned with intricate carvings of powerful deities and mythical creatures.

And sitting upon that grand golden throne was a brown skinned man with a regal bearing. Dressed in a flowing white linen robe, decorated with delicate gold embroidery and jewelry that depicted scenes of agricultural abundance and prosperity. The Pharaoh's topless skin shimmered under the golden light as if touched by the divine rays of the sun.

He sat on his throne rather lazily. With one leg over the other, his elbow on the armrest and his chin resting on his fist, his eyes shut and his breathing calm.

He was asleep.

Yet despite his lazy posture, the room was filled with an air of reverence and grandeur. The dark-skinned young woman with purple hair, and wears very revealing clothing with Anubis-like ears, golden earrings, and an elaborate necklace standing on guard on the bottom of the stairs glanced up curiously at her king but quickly looked away and resumed her duty, least she gets reprimanded by Ozymandias again.

Which was weird to see a Pharoah serve another Pharoah dutifully, but anyone who knew Ozymandias and Nitocris were would understand.

The former was dubbed as the Sun King, known for his domineering and ambitious nature and dazzling brilliance that reached the gods, while the latter, Nitocris, was a legendary queen of intelligence but also someone who held an inferiority complex towards her great predecessor.

What right did she have to stand equal to him? Her, who held the throne for a short in order to avenge her brothers while doing nothing for her people?

Nitocris held great pride as a Pharoah, but she would never deem herself as worthy to stand at the same pedestal as her predecessors.

Normally she had more important duties to do; scouting their great kingdom of sun from any intruders, especially those from the Holy City, but everything had been rather quiet and peaceful recently so she decided to guard Ozymandias.

He didn't really need it per se, he's more powerful than her after all, but she... really has nothing better to do at the moment.

'The Sphinxes I've mobilized haven't found anything noteworthy.' She inwardly groaned, getting bored out of her mind.

She even wished that some knights would come and make trouble for them so she could stretch her limbs.

'No, no, no. I shouldn't be wishing for trouble,' Nitocris scolded herself silently. She lightly glanced back at her king once more. 'I should act more, eh, somewhat like his majesty. He's suffering the same boredom and yet he maintains his composure. I should do the same.'

Just as Nitocris was about to redirect her attention back to the room, a faint sound caught her ear.

"Mmm..." A pair of golden eyes fluttered open, and Ozymandias yawned, stretching his arms wide. His eyes narrowed, looking up, his gaze piercing as he observed the sun.

'...What is this unpleasant feeling? Is someone using the power of the Sun? Is it that fellow again? Hmph! To further intrude into my domain like this, my patience has run dry, knight! I shall... Hm? Hold on, this is...' Ozymandias's eyes slightly widened, realizing about the anomaly in his domain.

This feeling wasn't the same as when the Knight of the Sun is being blessed by the Sun's divine power, no, it was something much profound and familiar. Someone is borrowing the power of the sun, and no they weren't just drawing a smidge of the Sun's power, they were commanding it! The Sun's brilliant power and light seemed to brighten, as if it was welcoming a friend.

This wasn't some blessing or gift, it was an Authority. A Divine Authority of a God! Ozymandias widened his eyes in realization.

'A Divine Spirit of the Sun has descended upon this world? How is that possible? And which God is it?'

'Did something happened? He has a serious expression, he never shows that unless something is truly important.' Nitocris's curiosity was piqued, and she quickly descended the stairs and approached Ozymandias.

"My King, what troubles you?" she asked, her voice filled with concern. Ozymandias turned to her, a mix of surprise and excitement evident on his face.

"Nitocris, it seems that I may have a... possible enemy or ally of great power. A Divine Spirit of the Sun has descended upon this world," Ozymandias replied, his tone filled with intrigue.

Nitocris looked taken aback, her eyes widening in surprise. "A Divine Spirit? With an Authority of the Sun? That's... unprecedented. Who could wield such power? And what are their intentions?"

Ozymandias shook his head, a determined look in his eyes. "I am not sure, but we must find out. This is a matter of great importance. Nitocris, I have an important mission for you."

Nitocris nodded, her expression resolute. "As you command, my King. I shall go forth and investigate this Divine Spirit of the Sun. I will gather information and report back to you."

Ozymandias smiled, a rare expression of appreciation crossing his regal features. "Thank you, Nitocris. Your loyalty and intelligence will be crucial in this endeavor. Be cautious and may the Sun guide your path."

With a bow, Nitocris turned and made her way out of the grand room, her mind already racing with thoughts of what she might encounter.

....

"Hm?"

"Sir Gawain? What's wrong?"

Gawain shook his head, "It's nothing."

His fellow knight, a beautiful man with long red hair and closed eyes, tilted his head but didn't ask further, thinking it wasn't important enough to press the matter further.

They were both walking into a large door and it slowly opened as they approached. The room they entered was filled with opulence and grandeur, adorned with elaborate decorations and intricate designs. The air was heavy with reverence and a sense of power.

At the center of the room, they saw their king, sitting upon her throne with an emotionless face. A regal aura surrounded her, and her presence commanded respect and awe.

She was a beautiful woman with shoulder length blonde hair, a golden crown resting on her head. She wore a white robe adorned with white fur around her neck, and her bright bright lime green, with glowing, yellow pupils, and are devoid of emotion and held an intensity that spoke of her immense power.

The was the Lion King of the Holy City Camelot, Arturia Pendragon.

Gawain and Tristan kneeled respectfully before their king, their heads lowered in reverence.

There were two others already already present in the room. It was Agravain and Mordred, kneeling with their heads bowed. The former is clad almost entirely in black armor in all of his appearances, along with a dark blue fur-lined cloak draped over his left side, he has slicked-back black hair and pale skin. The latter has similar features to their king, the difference was that she was smaller in stature, younger, with her lime eyes lighter in color and her blonde hair was tied into a ponytail.

"You're both late, Sir Gawain, Sir Tristan." Agravain said, voice laced with annoyance.

Gawain and Tristan exchanged a glance before dipping their heads apologetically.

"Apologies, Sir Agravain. We encountered some minor complications on the way." Gawain said.

Agravain huffed, but said nothing more on the matter.

Arturia Pendragon, the Lion King, spoke up, her voice commanding yet composed. "Gawain, Tristan, Agravain, Mordred, rise. We have an important matter to discuss."

The knights stood up, their attention fully focused on their king.

"Sir Lancelot has perished."

The room fell silent as Arturia's words hung in the air. The news of Sir Lancelot's death was unexpected on the knights gathered before her. Lancelot, one of the most skilled and loyal knights of the Round Table, had fallen.

"Just a few moments ago, I have felt his Gift returned to me and a powerful spike of Divinity southeast in the desert." Arturia continued, her voice calm and dry. "There is no doubt that his demise was the result of a battle with a powerful foe. The presence of Divinity can only mean that a Divine Spirit is involved."

Gawain furrowed his brows, his blue eyes filled with worry. "A Divine Spirit? Could it be an enemy servant?"

Arturia nodded solemnly. "It is highly possible. Although our plan is near in completion, but we cannot afford to underestimate any threats. The presence of a Divine Spirit changes the dynamics of our situation."

Mordred, who had been quiet thus far, spoke up with a hint of excitement in her voice. "So, what do we do? Seek out this Divine Spirit and challenge them?"

Arturia's gaze turned towards Mordred, her lime green eyes piercing. "Yes. Which is why I'm sending Sir Gawain, Sir Tristan, and you, Mordred, to investigate and confront this Divine Spirit. Gather as much information as you can and assess the threat they pose. If you see the opportunity, kill them."

Gawain and Tristan nodded, their expressions serious. Mordred, on the other hand, grinned savagely. "I'll show them the power of the Knight of Rebellion!"

The Lion King merely stared at them and said, "Don't disappoint me."

.....

In the desert.

Zenkichi breathed in heavily after taking out the last knight, which strangely dissipated into blue mist.

He stood standing still for a moment, catching his breath, and glanced back at where he defeated Lancelot. As a servant, he didn't leave behind his corpse and had dissipated into motes of golden light.

After Lancelot had used his Noble Phantasm on him, the fight had become pretty one-sided. He was an incredibly skilled fighter and swordsman, but skills alone couldn't stand against his powers.

He looked down at his system screen, feeling his body recovery, and sighed.

"Figures that's my quest, but it isn't going to be simple as it says, is it?" Zenkichi muttered.

[Answer: Yes]

Zenkichi's lips twitched and he turned his head towards the endless sand.

'Zenkichi, where shall we go now?' Brunhilde asked, still in her Völundr form.

He raised an eyebrow, "Why are you still in your Völundr form?"

'I don't want to walk on the desert.'

"We can just, fly out of here."

'...'

He scratched his cheek, "Well, the first plan of action is pretty obvious," A grin spread across his face. "I'm going to find my master."
