Chapter 3- The Press Conference

It had been 20 long years since that fateful event. The distinct clicking of camera flashes filled the room as the post-final singles match Wimbledon press conference commenced. A seasoned Erick Robertson strolled onto the stage, greeted by a thunderous applause, the echoes of which reverberated through the room. A stunning reporter welcomed him with a warm smile.

"Good evening, and welcome to the Wimbledon Champion Erick Robertson's press conference," she began. "Erick, how does it feel to finally be a Wimbledon champion?"

Erick answered with a genuine smile, "You know, I can't lie; it feels incredible, especially after defeating such a formidable opponent."

Another reporter chimed in, noting, "You seem to maintain remarkable calm and grace in your game, regardless of the opponent. How do you account for that?"

Erick chuckled and replied, "Oh, trust me, it's not always as calm when you're out there on those green pastures." His answer elicited a few sympathetic chuckles from the audience. "I'd say the stoic nature of my game is something I inherited from my late father. Without my parents' support and guidance, I would have never reached this point."

Meanwhile, in the Robertson family's London home, an older Derrick, now sporting a prominent belly, lounged on the plush sofa. He watched the press conference with keen interest. On the large flat-screen TV, yet another reporter brought up a more personal question.

"Sorry for your loss," the reporter began, "but I'm sure they must be looking down with pride now. Speaking of family, it seems the cameras missed your brother in the crowd."

Erick's tone took on a higher pitch as he replied, "Oh, I'm sure he's around. He just prefers to stay out of the tennis world, you know, after what happened…"

Derrick's girlfriend of Arabic ethnicity, the elegant Samira, noticed Derrick's sombre expression as he listened to his brother's words. She comforted him gently, taking the TV remote and switching the channel to a fashion catwalk show.

"Babe, isn't this beautiful?" Samira asked, trying to lighten the mood.

Derrick responded without a hint of enthusiasm, "Yeah, it is."
