Chapter 2- Endured Pain

As the medics rushed Derrick off the court, the crowd fell into a worried hush. Erick stood there, torn between celebrating his victory and worrying about his brother. His parents joined him, and together, they followed the medics to the medical tent.

Inside the tent, Derrick lay on a stretcher, grimacing in pain. The medical team quickly got to work, examining his hand, which had taken the brunt of the fiery serve. The doctor spoke to the worried parents, providing a preliminary assessment.

"It looks like he's sustained a severe injury to his hand, possibly a torn ligament. We need to take him to the hospital for a more detailed examination," the doctor explained.

Derrick tried to stay strong, not wanting to show too much pain in front of his family. His father gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, while his mother held his unharmed hand, offering words of comfort.

Erick couldn't help but feel a mixture of emotions. He had won the match, but it felt hollow without his brother there to share in the victory. Guilt gnawed at him; was the fiery serve too much? He didn't want to win at the cost of Derrick's injury.

At the hospital, Derrick underwent several tests, including an MRI to determine the extent of the damage. The family waited anxiously, their worry and fear palpable. Hours felt like days as they awaited the doctor's verdict.

Finally, the doctor emerged from the examination room. "The MRI shows a torn ligament in his hand. It's a severe injury, but with surgery and proper rehabilitation, he should recover. It will take time, though."

The relief that washed over the family was immense. They knew it would be a long road to recovery, but Derrick's injury was not career-ending.
