Desperate To Live

*Maybe my soulmate died. Idk. Or maybe I don’t have a soul* - Iamnotshane. Jayden lives by only two rules. Rule 1: Never fall in love. Rule 2: Always remember rule one. He has always followed this principle after learning that he has stage four cancer and has only a few months to live. Jayden chose not to hurt any women as long as they did not fall in love with him because he was a cold handsome playboy who carries a deadly aura, but adored by all. His gray eyes were ravishing, and he had exquisite flawless skin. He was adored by everyone until he met a girl named Freda. Freda was a twenty-nine-year-old autistic patient, and Jayden was twenty-seven years old cancer patient. On their first encounter, Jayden, who enjoys being around women, sees Freda as a red flag due to her disability and her choice of clothing. He had sworn to himself that he would never run into Freda again, but fate couldn’t be more cooperative as they continued to bump into each other. Due to an unexpected situation, Freda has no other option but to start working in Jayden’s mansion. Freda pledged that she would fix the playboy’s heart so that he would fall in love with someone because she sees no reason why he avoids being in a relationship, but little did she know that she would fall for him instead. “But what if she discovers she is in love with a cancer patient? Will she suppress her emotions or work to make Jayden’s life as happy as possible before he dies?” “Will love save the day when death calls?” This book evokes a wide range of emotions.

Jayden rolled his eyes and curled his lips into a side sneer.

"As if I'm madly in love with you?" He asked, smirking, because he thought the scenario was humorous.

What Freda had just said sounded strange to Jayden, and he had to fight the urge to chuckle.

"How can you know what the eyes of a man who's in love looks like?"

Freda bites her lower lip because she knows that if she begins answering Jayden's inquiry, she will be late for work.

"Sir. Is it possible if I don't respond to your question? There is a google for a reason so you can search for the answer and there is a wonderful explanation of what a guy who is in love looks like."

Jayden was caught aback yet again by her words.

He needed her to explain something to him, but Freda once again had replied to him in an unpleasant manner.

She was simply too direct in her response.

"Don't you think you're a little disrespectful, and… well, you're more than disrespectful, and don't forget that I'm your boss, so you should be careful with your words?"

Freda rubbed her palm on her trouser while staring at the puzzle box.

She sighed as she arranged her puzzle box.

"Autism patients are considered to be too direct with their words, CEO Jayden. When a person with autism says something that appears rude or offensive, it is most likely a result of missing or not being able to read someone typical social cues."

Her words were incomprehensible to Jayden, but he found himself nodding.

Freda bit her bottom lip as she stared awkwardly at Jayden, who was also staring at her.

"Sir. Because of the awkward silence, may I have the key to your door?" She muttered.

Jayden exhaled, and he had no choice but to put his hands in his pockets and hand over the key to her.

Freda took the key and proceeded to the door.

She pushed through the door and exited the mansion.

As Freda exited Jayden's compound, she looked at her wrist watch and saw that it was ten minutes to seven thirty.

She thought for a moment and realized that if she had to go home to take a bath, she would be late for work.

She made the right decision to halt a cab intending to stop at a cheap boutique.

Freda went into the boutique, but all of the things she saw weren't her style, and the ones she did like were simply too pricey.

As time passed, she hailed another cab and provided the cab driver the address of her workplace.

There was gridlock on her route, and she arrived at the company five minutes before eight thirty.

Freda had only five minutes left if she wasn't going to be late.

It was only a few seconds to eight thirty when she arrived at her workplace desk.

"You are a lucky soul." Jayden's voice could be heard from behind Freda, and his comments caught her off guard.

She snapped out as she screamed, placing both hands beside her ear.

All of the workers who were present were taken aback by Freda's behavior.

An autism patient experiencing such high levels of anxiety can lead to exhaustion and meltdowns, which leads to an autistic fatigue and burnout.

Freda continued to snap her hands alongside her ear to calm herself down, and after a while of screaming, she began mumbling soft phrases to herself.

Jayden remained motionless as he observed her bizarre display.

When she eventually calmed down, she pushed her googles back and glanced at her puzzle box.

"What was that for?" Jayden inquired because he had never witnessed somebody become scared like Freda for no apparent reason.

Freda closed her eyes and took three deep breaths.

She opened her eyes after taking a deep breath.

"Um… umm…" She stuttered as she licked her bottom lips.

Jayden furrowed his brows and walked towards her front, staring at her with curiosity. "Are you now a stammerer?"

She bite her lower lips before playing with her puzzle box

"Umm…"

Because Freda was still agitated, she forced herself to swallow her saliva.

"Um… the truth is that what you just said scared me." Finally, Freda explained.

Her coffee brown eyes were fully lit up as she finally shifted her glance away from the puzzle box and towards Jayden.

"What comment did I make that startled you, young lady?"

"It's… I was scared because you unexpectedly appeared at my back and said something that literally caught me off guard."

Jayden sighed and rolled his eyes. 'She was a strange individual.' He reflected to himself.

He walked away from her, shaking his head sideways.

Jayden came to a standstill not far from Freda. "We'll be holding a board meeting in thirty minutes." He declared with a firm voice and walked away.

Freda nodded and stood there watching Jayden walk away from her.

She breathed out and sat down when he finally left.

Freda began preparing for the board meeting right away, and she quickly made her way to the board room when it was already time.

When Freda arrived, she found that some others had already taken their seats.

When everyone arrived, the meeting began immediately.

"CEO Jayden. Now that you're here, I'd like to propose a wine tasting party for the entire organization. People from the upper classes from all around the world would be invited, and they would pay a gate fee to enter…"

"And if our wine is tried by higher classes, it will give us the opportunity to become extremely well known around the world, because individuals in higher circles want to show off whenever they purchase fine wine." A young man chimed in.

"And they will undoubtedly share the event on their own social media profiles, which will raise awareness for our organization." A young lady proposed.

Freda jotted down the essential information, and Jayden wrapped up the meeting within the following thirty minutes.

"The meeting has ended, and I require the event plan within one week."

After Jayden's statement, everyone in the room nodded.

Freda stood up from her seat and was about to leave the boardroom when a young lady called out for her.

"I'm not trying to be disrespectful Freda, but you seemed like someone who didn't take a bath this morning." The lady said, as she tried not to sound offensive.

"I didn't."

Everyone in the room gasped because Freda wasn't the type of person who neglects her physique.

"Huh? And why didn't you take a bath?"

This time, it was Freda Manager who asked.

Freda shifted her gaze towards Jayden and he stared back at her.

Her coffee brown eyes were warm as she made an unexpected declaration.

"I couldn't take a bath this morning because I slept with Jayden last night."

Her manager's mouth hung open.
