Desperate To Live

*Maybe my soulmate died. Idk. Or maybe I don’t have a soul* - Iamnotshane. Jayden lives by only two rules. Rule 1: Never fall in love. Rule 2: Always remember rule one. He has always followed this principle after learning that he has stage four cancer and has only a few months to live. Jayden chose not to hurt any women as long as they did not fall in love with him because he was a cold handsome playboy who carries a deadly aura, but adored by all. His gray eyes were ravishing, and he had exquisite flawless skin. He was adored by everyone until he met a girl named Freda. Freda was a twenty-nine-year-old autistic patient, and Jayden was twenty-seven years old cancer patient. On their first encounter, Jayden, who enjoys being around women, sees Freda as a red flag due to her disability and her choice of clothing. He had sworn to himself that he would never run into Freda again, but fate couldn’t be more cooperative as they continued to bump into each other. Due to an unexpected situation, Freda has no other option but to start working in Jayden’s mansion. Freda pledged that she would fix the playboy’s heart so that he would fall in love with someone because she sees no reason why he avoids being in a relationship, but little did she know that she would fall for him instead. “But what if she discovers she is in love with a cancer patient? Will she suppress her emotions or work to make Jayden’s life as happy as possible before he dies?” “Will love save the day when death calls?” This book evokes a wide range of emotions.

In love with Freda.

For some strange reason, Freda believed Jayden could hear her heartbeat. It was rapid, and her throat was dry.

She felt uncomfortable.

As she looked at Jayden's face, she noticed that he had long eyelashes and a well-carved chin.

Jayden, on the other hand, was staring at her. Her ginger hair fell across her face, and her eyes were large and round beneath her goggles.

At first he was stunned to see that Freda was staring back at him and not that she was staring plainly at him but she seemed to be observing his face.

Jayden had always assumed she didn't find him attractive, but what she was doing now indicated differently. So he thought!

After scrutinizing her eyes, his gaze moved to her lips. They were little, pink, and lovely.

He had to blink twice to clear his mind of the strange thought that he had just pondered about.

Freda was obviously not someone he would want to sleep with because she wasn't appealing to him.

Or was she?

Jayden leant in closer to Freda, and any tiny movement could cause their lips to brush against each other.

Freda did not flee from him. She didn't seem astonished, and she kept her cool. It was almost as if she was indirectly daring Jayden to summon up the courage to kiss her.

He was amused by the childlike lady who was a few inches away from him.

If it had been another lady, he would have sealed their lips and ensured that hickeys were all over their body.

He grinned. "Are you planning on kissing me?" He inquired, his brow furrowed.

Freda leant back and blinked her eyelids a few times. "Why would I do something like that?"

He smirked as she was trying to deny the fact that she has an urge to seal his lips for a kiss.

Besides, Jayden was freaking handsome, so he was bound to understand Freda.

His handsome features are so alluring that it occasionally causes guys to doubt their preferences.

Some people would suddenly believe they were gay because Jayden was hypnotizing and it was difficult not to fall for him.

"What would you have been staring at if you didn't intend to kiss me?"

She smiled warmly as she took the puzzle box from Jayden's grasp.

"I was only staring at your chin because it's the protruding part of the face, below the mouth generated by the lower jaw's apex. You have chiseled jawline and strong chins, which make you appear more masculine, and it is generally thought to be universally appealing, although it is difficult to…"

Her voice trailed off.

Jayden arched his brows, waiting to hear the rest of her sentence. He wants to know where her words are heading.

"Why do you stop talking? Go ahead with your word's."

As she peered at her puzzle box, Freda nibbled her lower lip.

"You have a great facial appearance and you seem great, I guess. All I'm saying is that you don't seem attractive to me, so stop using the word kiss whenever you are around me. You don't strike me as attractive, and I suppose that's because beauty is in the eyes of the beholder."

Jayden remained motionless for one minute. He had no idea Freda was going to toss a bomb in his face.

She had confidently uttered what she thought of him and she was brave in delivering her words.

If it had been a club girl, she would have sugar coated her statements so as not to anger Jayden.

But Freda wasn't a club girl after all!

Although Jayden wanted to get mad, he forced himself to maintain his composure.

Why does he need to be upset because of Freda? He didn't consider her to be exceptional, thus becoming angry was inappropriate.

"Are you aware of the new policy in the company?" Jayden inquired as he chose to change the subject because it was the wisest course of action.

She arched her brow because she hadn't been in the company the day before, so she hadn't been notified about the new law, which was made.

"If a worker is late, his or her wages would be decreased, which inevitably indicates that if I arrive before my workers, I will deduct their salary."

Freda didn't blink after Jayden's statement. She wasn't even prepared to hear such terrible legislation, and she was working a part-time job to have enough money on hand, so the news that her salary would be cut off if she goes to work late, saddened her.

"Could you please give me the key to your door? I wish to head back home right now." She pleaded, and this time her gaze was riveted on Jayden's.

She desperately does not want him to deduct money from her monthly paycheck.

Jayden smirked. Now she was worried! He likes that.

He declared as his hands tugged at his man bun. "I can spare you today, but only if you accept my terms."

Her brows were slightly arched, as she questioned him without hesitation. "What kind of condition do you have?"

"I want you to stop working for me, and not just your maid job, but also your secretarial job."

This was the first time Freda had heard someone make a pointless negotiation.

She furrowed her brows and looked at him with a perplexed face. "What benefits will your negotiations have on my life if I resign my position as your secretary and as your maid?"

Freda was really brave, and she refused to listen to Jayden's bullshit.

He hadn't thought about his negotiation before making his earlier announcement, but following Freda's speech, he started to think about it.

"If you decide to quit your job as a maid, I will not cut off your salary for today, because it's obvious you are going to be late for work." He said.

Jayden preferred to have her cease being his maid and he would figure out how to make her stop being his secretary.

Freda smiled and nodded her head. "Then I'll make a bargain as well."

After hearing her statement, Jayden smirked amusingly.

What kind of bargain can she possibly make?

"All right, then." He mumbled.

She nodded her head slightly before proceeding. "I'd appreciate it if you stopped calling me little lamb and stop looking at me with those eyes."

He chuckled. "Which eyes?"

Jayden was confused by her outburst because he doesn't understand what she meant by his eyes.

"Of course, your eyes. You are staring at me as though you are in love." She said, and Jayden choked on his saliva because she was being ridiculous.

Eyes that seemed like he was in love with Freda? How bizarre!
