05 - When the Sun Sets

'Just like back then, I'll be alone once more. Maybe it's telling me that I should treasure moments like this.'

Asteria thought to herself as Arthur decided to go to the amusement park and dragged her with him.

It's called an amusement park for a reason right?

However, there's nothing amusing about this place.

She watched as her brother happily wandered around like a little kid and played games and won various prizes.

From candies to stuff animals.

He asked her earlier this morning after breakfast, before awaiting for a response from her he grabbed her hand and walked out of the house.

Next thing she knew they arrived at this place which was suppose to be filled with happiness and joy.

But to her? This place is not the place she wanted to waste her time going to.

Arthur was surprised as his sister's weird behavior lately.

First, she became really short tempered.

Second, whenever he would bought up the topic of their parents she obviously avoids it and didn't even let him have another word about it.

Third, was in this day. Usually she would say no but she just let him drag in this place.

"Arthur~" Asteria whined as he hummed in response. "Where are we going?"

He smiled at her and pointed towards the large ferris wheel.

"You wanna go there?" She sweat dropped as his sapphire orbs sparkled in excitement and joy. She gritted her teeth and visibly rolled her eyes before saying:

"Let's get the ticket."

They entered the cab and sat on each side.

"Asteria." He muttered softly. "You don't have to deal with it on your own."

Her purple orbs glistened a bit before it turns dull once again.

"I can." She replied sternly as she noticed his expression turned from joy to sadness in a matter of seconds.

She obviously noticed it but paid no mind to it.

After all, its her  problem not his.

She couldn't let him deal with it.

She can't let him.

"Sis." He muttered. "You can talk to me right? Aren't I your brother?"

Asteria looked at him before responding coldly. "Yes, however there are some things that aren't needed to be said to others."

The ride came to an end as both of them exit the cab in silence.

She didn't even bother to hold his hands.

Her brother realizing something throughout the times he would ask her with questions.

She was stating facts.

Asteria wouldn't hesitate to answer his questions thus resulting her words to be not sugarcoated.

"Before then." Arthur began speaking, ending the awkward silence between them. "You would always be the one who comforts me and making sure that I'm fine."

Her purple orbs studied him and understood what exactly he meant:

He wanted her to be able to express her true feelings. Her real feelings.

"Then?"

His sapphire orbs stared at the pair of purple ones which holds no warmth or sincerity than it usually was.

It was cold..... And full of sorrow.

"Asteria. When will I be to see you happy?"

"Seeing you happy is enough." She stated.

He gritted his teeth and yelled. "Which is why I wanted you to find your own happiness. Its true that I'm happy but that was my own happiness not yours."

"I have no reason to spend my life just to search for something that isn't worth it in the end."

"Even if it just temporary?" He asked unsurely.

She gave him a small smile, one that she rarely use. "It is just a temporary thing."

Asteria gave him her hand which he accepted. Her soft small hands held her brother's cold ones which was a surprise for her.

It's cold.

Both walked in silence watching the sun sets in the horizon.

No word were needed to say.

Her purple orbs says it all.

'She'll never let him walk alone in the path he will take. She will be by his side.

Till the end.'

Lorrainne stood in front of the laboratory where her cousin was.

"Rainne?" Helia's asked from behind her.

She shrieks in surprise before letting out a sigh of relief.

"It's just you." Lorrainne said as she put a hand on her chest calming her erratic heartbeat. "You almost gave me a heart attack!"

"Sorry." He put his hands up in defense. "By the way why are you here?"

"Haine called earlier and said that Asteria almost lost control."

"Haine? Oh him." He bit his thumb and furrowed his brows. "I'm not a big fan of him and I don't exactly hate him so."

"He said that when Asteria was almost at the brink of insanity she released a huge amount of magical energy which can be felt fifty kilometers away."

"So that's why there's a huge pressure yesterday."

"Yes. However that's not the real issue here. He explained that there are huge vines covering her filled with thorns and white roses blooming from it."

"White? I've only seen red before."

Lorrainne blinked a few times. "That's weird. I've only seen blue and purple ones and few cosmos flowers."

"Huh?"

They didn't seemed to notice a single black rose listening to their entire conversation.

"They noticed the changes." Asteria thought aloud as she stare at the crescent moon in the sky.

Soon she heard a familiar pair of footsteps and saw her twin brother wide awake, in the middle of the night.

"Asteria? Aren't you gonna sleep?"

She gave him a fake smile. "I'll just sleep later on. Go to your room."

He didn't want to fight her which is why he went back to him room.

Not before Asteria heard him mutter 'Goodnight' before closing the door.

She smirk as vines begin to slither in her left arm with flowers surrounds it. Her feet filled with cosmos and butterflies gather around her.

As the moonlight illuminated her room, it never did manage to finds its light deep within her heart.

Pink flowers, colorful butterflies and white roses filled with thorns.

Pretty as it sounds it is quite deadly.

Within a flick of a finger everything turned black.

The butterflies lay dead in the floor filled with withered cosmos as the white roses turned black.

Suddenly, a cold gust of wind carried the ashes outside and gone with the wind.

Asteria stared at the moon and she felt her knees grew weak finding herself clutching her chest and tears filled her eyes.

Watching her small hands she sees the color she despised.

Red.

She could have sworn that she saw blood in her hands and her eyes turned dull.

Asteria smiled.

"Guess my suffering will never end."

She closed her eyes and tried to calm herself down hoping she would regain control once more.

"Please.... Someone, just kill me."

Haine sensed her despair as he looked frantically outside.

"What's wrong?" One of his employee asked.

"Nothing." Haine replied as he stared at the crescent moon.

"Asteria....

Please regain yourself."

'Long time ago both would stare under the same sky, talking about the future that she won't be able to witness.

When the sun sets that's where it all began

The light will disappear as the darkness take over

No matter how good a person is,

Their inner demons stayed within.

Just like the sun she dies to let her moon breathe

When the sun sets all the memories came rushing in,

Once you had enough,

The sun sets and you await for it to rise once again.'
