Chapter 3

From below, a swarm of gargoyles tackled the field agent through the ceiling and onto the top floor. This stunned the leader of the dark church for a moment before he continued running towards his escape room.

"Those stupid gargoyles were not trained properly if I get the chance, my next small squadron of gargoyles will be trained much better before they are able to assist me." Thought the leader as he spotted his executioner in front of the escape room.

Her face was filled with a fearful look as she was watching the battle between the field agent and the gargoyles taking place right behind her leader. Seeing her face full of fear, caused this leader to halt his movements to look behind him.

To his shock, instead of two daggers, the field agent now had a strong looking sword with a pair of wings flapping behind him as he easily slaughtered the gargoyles that were in his path.

"What incredible power. Our forces have even more formidable members though!" the leader shouted as he quickly grabbed the executioner of his and closed the door behind him. In front of them was an empty room, but it held a door in the centre filled with dark flames covering it.

"Milord is that really the door that leads to that place?" the executioner cried out. She was familiar with doors like this from her training and education while following next to this leader of her side for so long.

"Do not be afraid of the darkness that is radiating from this door. Remember the comfort you feel while you are in darkness and the flames will never harm you. A soldier that serves the God we serve will never be harmed by such a wicked and dark flame."

"Make your choice now, will you accompany me to that place, or will you be slain hereby that field agent?" now feeling more relaxed, the leader started to walk slowly towards the door, causing it to open slightly as if it was welcoming its king.

Before she could even respond, a loud crash could be heard outside in the hall. Less than a breath of time later, the field agent flew into the room, taking down the door with a swing of his sword.

"Anything else you both would like to say before I devour you in the name of our god?" the field agent asked the two companions who were the overlords of this dark church within this city. Though this was a sincere question, there was a little bit of ridicule coming from his words.

"You? Devouring us?" now with an evil grin on his face, the leader of the dark church in this city started to casually walk towards the field agent as if he was the hunter now.

"Originally I wanted to escape to avoid your alliance from knowing the power of someone in my position, but it seems that you left me no choice." With his footsteps becoming heavier, the leader finally halted his movements before giving his order to his executioner.

"Use it now!" the leader cried out as the woman by his side took out a strange looking clear bottle with a green and steaming potion inside.

"So that is your last trump card?" watching the woman opening the bottle, the field agent for the first time during this whole scene, placed himself in a defensive type stance with his sword pointing towards the woman.

"Do not feel too badly, I earned that potion a few years ago before coming here to build up a small army within this city. My loyalty to our God, gave me the means to give a close subordinate that potion to save us if a threat came that we were unable to escape from."

"Any last words, before you are crushed underneath her power and this whole city is sacrificed to power us up?" the leader of the dark church asked the field agent before looking towards his executioner who was now drinking the potion.

"Once I devour you both, I will sacrifice your evil souls to my god. I think that would be more fitting than the citizens of this city's souls being sacrificed to yours. Heck, maybe I will stay within this city and build up my own army to attack the rest of the dark churches within this remote region." With a bright glare, the field agent dashed towards the executioner swinging his blade with all his might.
