Chapter 14

"Just a little more!" Damien thought as he opened his eyes. "Where am I?" he pondered as he turned his head around to get a full view of the room, he was now in.

Medical supplies were on a steel cart next to the bed he was laying down in and a large curtain gave Damien some privacy in the little space he was now in. Right now, Damien was clearly in the infirmary located in the academy.

"Why am I here?" Damien pondered as he looked down towards his body. Bandages were covering his torso and both of his arms as he found it somewhat difficult to sit up straight. Deciding to save his energy, Damien placed his head once again on his pillow as he stared at the ceiling above him.

"Well doctor, how is Damien doing?" a man right outside of the curtain leading to Damien's area stood with two other older individuals as they were speaking to the doctor that supervised this infirmary.

"Damien should be fully recovered very soon if he is not already. Though he hasn't woken up, I would not worry since his body is about eighty percent healed as it stands right now. He was rushed into here three days ago, but thanks to the Vice Principal's personal disciple that specializes in light, she was able to heal his heavy injury."

"I still do not understand why that man allows those types of spars to occur every now and again, but that is too far above my paygrade to think about. You three are more than welcome to leave a message for Damien with me and I will be sure to hand it to him once he wakes up." The doctor explained to the three individuals.

"According to the rules of this academy, us VIP members of the tower are unable to do anything within the academy with our influence. However, you should know the doctor that we are determined to take Damien as one of our disciples sooner than later. We read the reports of the spar that took place and his potential seems to outmatch many others of his generation." One of them said.

"Do not worry doctor, although we wish to speak to Damian personally, we understand that he needs his rest for now. I would like to request that we at least see him in his current condition. If he needs a special item to wake up, or if he needs something else, we will be sure to provide it." The woman of the group said with a soft smile.

"Very well then, it would be unwise for me to prevent those at your level of influence and power from seeing Damian's current condition. None of you is to wake him up if he is still resting, but you all may look with me. I needed to change one of his bandages shortly anyways." Replied the doctor as he swung open the curtains.

"It was not very kind of you to lie through your teeth to us, doctor." The third individual said as an angered look appeared on his face. This was because when the curtains were open, Damian was casually looking at their group and the doctor as if the doctor was lying to them just now.

"Do not blame the doctor for anything. I only just woke up moments ago and still am unsure why I am here. If I had to assume, it was because I lost the match against Thomas?" Damian asked the group of people who he overheard just now read the reports on the match before rushing over here.

"Lost the match? Kid, during the final attack between the both of you, your sword broke the handle of Thomas's weapon as his weapon pierced through your chest. If it was not for his strike landing on your body, you would have been named the victor instead of the match ended up being a draw!" one of the VIPs told Damian with a bright light in his eyes.

"What he says is correct. It came as a surprise, but since Thomas forced you to use a weapon you were not as skilled with, it could be considered your victory, even if a draw was called as the final announcement. Hearing that you already found your most precious weapon like the hammer so early on as a student in this academy, I wonder how you came across that idea?" the woman of the group asked as she smiled towards Damian in acceptance.

"You three are way too late to claim my precious student as your own. If you have any advice to give to him, I as his instructor will take it into consideration. Otherwise, I will need to ask you three to withdraw yourselves for now. If you refuse to, do not blame me for not showing you any more face!" a woman's voice could be heard from the entrance.

"Who dares to speak in such a foul tone towards us?" the oldest looking senior of the group turned towards the entrance of the infirmary to get a good look at who would be so domineering and unyielding.

These three VIP members of the tower were extremely influential when they combined their power and political strength. Many members of the tower like the students of the academy would band together to accomplish their goals faster.

When these three combined their strengths together several years ago, there were very few individuals who would be willing to disregard them so publicly. However, when the older man of the group got a good look at the woman who had said this, his eyes narrowed.

"Oh, if he is yours then we will, of course, show you face and retract our offer to your student. Under your watchful eyes, Damian is sure to have a bright future ahead of him." The woman of the group cut in as the remaining two of the group saw the woman standing by the door in a casual but fierce manner.

"Then scram already. I need to talk to my student and explain to him what he did wrong during that match. If you get in the way of my ability to instruct him, do not hate me for the consequences it will bring to your little group." The woman said in a harsh tone as the three VIP members of the tower locked eyes with one another before nodding and taking their leave.
