A Day for Adventure

Alex woke up early the next morning and made himself a hardy breakfast. It was a little too early for Wendy and Carla so he put their breakfast in the fridge and left a note for them on the kitchen counter.

He had told them yesterday that he would be gone when they awoke the next morning and had given them a way to contact him should the need arise or if they just wanted to talk with him. He wasn't very good at departures when he himself was the one leaving and thought it better to leave without talking to anyone.

Having packed the day previous, he set out immediately after breakfast was done. He had made a decision on his destination and would head west to Alakitasia. The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to meet the wizard King, August.

The man was said to be able to use every magic in existence, but Alex knew the truth of it. August's magic was called 'Copy', it gave him the ability to flawlessly transform into someone else, gaining all the knowledge of their magic up to the level they themselves have achieved. Though August has mastered this magic to its highest form.

In its highest form of use by the caster, they are able to copy their targets Magic at the instantaneous moment they encounter them and being able to own, utilize, and lastly nullify the targeted Mage's copied Magic with their own.

Alex was very curious if this applied to him, he was a broken character of this world and so far his magic defied common sense. He hadn't asked 'God' for his skills to only be useable by him, but guessed by the fact that he couldn't teach them, it had been thrown in somewhere in that contract he didn't read.

He doubted he had anything to gain from this little experiment, but curiosity was a dangerous thing for someone like him. He also knew Zeref currently wasn't in Alvarez and figured it was as good a chance as any to meet August without too much difficulty. Being too long before the actual war was supposed to start, he might not face any difficulty.

Though he was not expecting it to be that easy, his luck wasn't that good after all. Since he had only given himself a month for this trip, it would most likely just turn into a scouting trip where he took in the landmarks and city locations.

He wasn't in a hurry to head straight there and was flying at a leisurely pace, there was still lots of things in this world he hadn't seen and would stop often if something caught his eye.

It was during one of these times that he found himself in some ruins. He didn't know what they used to be, all that was left was some time worn masonry and some illegible and faded markings he assumed used to be runes.

He could tell from the different scents in the air, that humans had been here within the last couple days and could even sense a few within a few Km's currently. Thought they were not the same ones that were here previously.

He ignored the humans and went about studying the inscriptions to see if he could learn anything from it. The whole place was covered in marking and scratches in the stone that he stared to believe it might be an alter of sorts, though he couldn't get it to do anything no matter how much mana he poured into the supposed 'runes'.

He was so enthralled with the study of the ruins that he didn't notice a group of people approach. Hearing footsteps just outside the ruins pulled him out of his thoughts and he started kicking himself for being careless.

Entering {Stealth} while he was still out of sight, he headed out. "Hmm? Boss, our target just vanished from the ruins" a hushed voice said.

"What do you mean 'Vanished'? Isn't your specialty, tracking magic? How did he get past you?" Came a series of hushed questions.

"Yeah, that's how I know the target was here. That creep from the Oracion Seis, gave me the way to track him." the first voice replied.

"Your magic uses smell doesn't it? How did the Oracion Seis get his scent?" the 'boss' asked shortly after.

"The hell should I know? Doesn't that Brain guy use Archive magic? Maybe that how" the first voice said in an annoyed tone.

'Oracion Seis? Why would they be after me? They weren't in the Worth Wood-sea when I took out Nirvana... Are they petty enough to send people after me because of that?' Alex thought, a little confused about the whole situation.

'And how the fuck did they track me so fast from smell alone? I've been flying and pretty randomly too.' As a wizard who used scent to track people and prey as well, Alex found it confusing and slightly annoying that they not only had his scent but were able to track him so quickly.

He hadn't hid his presence during his travels but he had been pretty random in his movements. Not coming up with any solutions on his own, he decided he should politely 'ask' one of his potential aggressors.

When the group that was apparently hunting him, came into view, Alex just stopped and stared. He had never met any of them and didn't remember them from either the Manga or the Anime.

They all dressed similar and had close to the same hairstyle, showing they were together. He didn't know the significance of their attire or hair styles but it definitely brought him up short.

'The fuck they trying to be? Poorly dressed unicorns?' he thought in confusion. They all dressed in a style that Alex could only describe as 'Highschool Delinquent' but the thing that stood out the most was all of their hair was put up in a single spike like the horn of a unicorn.

They seemed so incredibly out of place in the forest that Alex wasn't sure if he should openly laugh or feel sorry for them.

'The fact that any of these guys has tracking magic is already kind of impressive' Alex thought while still observing the two wizards that were arguing. The entire group consisted of 10 people all dressed similarly and judging from the magical 'pressure' they gave off, were all of similar strength.

'Man, these guys are so weak! I'm willing to bet Wendy could wipe the floor with them. I kinda feel like I'm being underestimated here.' Alex thought darkly as he considered the best way to deal with these guys. Deciding simple 'intimidation tactics' would work best against this out of place bunch, he set to work.

Dropping {Stealth} already in his Demon form, had an immediate effect on the still bickering group. He also used his Magic to pressure them all, this proved to be a mistake however as almost immediately his nose was assaulted with the acrid scent of urine.

"Oh god damnit, who the hell pissed themselves" Alex said in his deep demonic voice, he hadn't meant to speak out loud but the smell was just that foul.

Getting no answers, he took a closer look at the group. All of them where is various states of panic and desperation that he guessed they couldn't answer his questions even if they wanted too.

"Well, I guess I don't need all of you to answer my questions." He stated, causing the group to panic more. Alex used {Mana Manipulation} to put them to sleep and at the same time seal all their magic. They weren't strong enough to be a threat but that didn't mean he wanted to deal with them if they somehow built up the courage to fight back.

After everyone was sleeping he dropped his transformation before grabbing the guy the others where calling 'Boss'.

Before walking away from the group of 'sleeping' wizards, Alex used {Mana Manipulation} again. This time he used it to create a red liquid that took the appearance and smell of blood. He used it to 'Decorate' the bodies to make it seem like he had massacred them.

His hope being the sole 'Survivor' would be more willing to talk if he was given the chance to 'live'. He didn't want them to think that as a 'light' wizard, Alex wasn't willing to kill them. Alex moved far enough away to make it so the guy wasn't able to tell his 'dead' members where just sleeping while still keeping them very much in sight.

After tying the guys hands and feet together, Alex woke him up. "AAAHHHH! DEMON!! Huh? What? Where did it go?" the man woke up screaming and panicked while frantically looking around. His eyes eventually landed on Alex who was standing before him calmly watching.

"Y-you! Were you the one that summoned the demon? ...Oh God! It killed them all!" the man asked Alex before he noticed all his 'dead' comrades.

"Yes it was me." Alex said simply. "And if you don't want to join them then you will be answering my questions honestly and to the point. If I find your answers satisfactory, you will be free to leave with your life. However, if you lie to me, I will be calling the 'Demon' back, and you will join your friends over there." Alex stated darkly.

The man nodded his head so fast Alex thought it would pop off his body. "Good. First question. Do you know who I am?" Alex asked, he was curious why they were after him and had to start somewhere.

"Yes. You are target we were sent to kill, Alexander Black. No affiliation" the man said in a quivering tone. 'Kill?' Alex thought, somewhat surprised. "Why was I designated a target? And Who put out the hit?" Alex asked, after a moments pause.

"We weren't given the specifics of why, though I know it has something to do with disrupting some long standing plans of the boss." the man replied. "And who is this 'Boss'" Alex asked, already having an Idea of who.

He hadn't ruined too many peoples plans yet, so his choices where limited. "Brain of the Oracion Seis" the man replied. Though his tone made it seem like it was supposed to be a threat.

"Hmm, never heard of him." Alex lied. The man gave Alex a very odd look at that. The Oracion Seis were a very famous dark guild in Ishgar and were known for their terrifying individual might. "Where are these 'Oracion Seis' now?" Alex asked, seemingly curious.

"I don't know. They contact us remotely for jobs. None in our guild has ever been to their headquarters" the man said quickly. They were all Dark wizards and didn't have much loyalty to one another. The only thing dark wizards respected was strength and their own lives.

Alex could tell the man wasn't lying as he had been monitoring his heart and magic the entire time. "Hmm, that is a shame" Alex said softly. He didn't know how far Brain would actually go to kill him, but figured if he sent one squad, he would do it again.

"How were you able to track me down so fast?" Alex asked, getting down to the less important questions that were bothering him.

"Uhh, well. I'm not the tracker so I don't know the specifics of that guys magic. But I know Brain gave him something that has your scent put into it. I'm not sure how they got it, but if I had to guess I would say Brain used Archive to do it. It is also how we knew you would be coming this way in the near future. It allowed us to be here in advance, and track you by smell once you were close." the man spoke quickly, noticing Alex's growing displeasure.

Alex was annoyed, he didn't know Archive magic had a function like this, as it leaned more towards Clairvoyance than what he thought Archive magic would be. (A/N. I doubt Archive can actually do this, but I don't care. I'm using it) He was happy they didn't seem to know he had Joined Fairy Tail as it meant they shouldn't be dragged into this.

'He probably got my information before I join the guild' Alex thought with a nod of his head. "Last question" Alex started, making the man sweat. "What is the name of your guild?" he asked plainly.

The man blinked at this, the question was so different from the previous and he wasn't sure why this guy wanted to know. It wasn't really a secret, but he was still wary as he replied. "Dark Unicorn".

'Huh.. What a fitting and completely terrible name for a guild.' Alex thought. "Thanks! You've been a big help." Alex replied cheerfully before putting the man back to sleep.

He could kill this lot and it had crossed his mind to do so, but he wasn't quite sure he wanted to go down that path just yet. He knew it would probably happen eventually but he also knew the master would most likely hear of this situation and wasn't really looking forward to a lecture.

Instead, he put them in an area he enchanted to keep beasts away so they wouldn't be killed and sent their location and guild name to the magic Council. He mentioned they would be incapacitated for the next 2 days and anything after that was on them. After contacting the council, he simply carried on with his journey.

He would have liked to go and deal with the Oracion Seis, but without a location he would just have to deal with it when it bothered him more. With annoyance still in his heart at the interruption, he continued West to the coast.

Here is the promised second chapter, though I'm getting ever closer to clearing out my stockpiled chapters. I doubt people will care with how 'Slow' this book has been. Hahaha!

Enjoy.
