Demon Dragon system

(I will be using this synopsis for the mean time, till I think of something more captivating, but I assure that this is a promising novel so give it a try). *** "Hunt or be hunted," is the only way for humans to survive in this world. Monsters are evading the city, the world has merged, and portals sprout everywhere. To prevent the invasion of monsters, humanity must clear these portals on a regular basis. If humanity is successful in killing a creature in the portals, they will be granted special abilities and can use their core to upgrade their levels. Christopher's first portal adventure turned into a nightmare as he was tortured by monsters. He miraculously wound up in a hospital. [Ding...You have gained a system.] Christopher used the system to strengthen himself, only to discover that the world is gearing up for something far more massive. Will humanity perish if Christopher fails to defeat this unknown threat?

Portals

Portals of different sizes and colors appeared on the surface of the earth.

Humans began to panic because of the appearance of the portals and the word written in the sky.

Christopher was also frightened by the shock wave; his soul felt like escaping his body.

He checked his phone real quick, and once again the internet broke. Different posts and questions were asked on the internet.

|Yo, I pissed my pants|.

|I was so scared, and I'm still scared right now|.

|That thunderous sound is very frightening|.

|"Guys, is it only in my country that portals are opened?"|

|Yeah, same here; in fact, a portal opened in a children's park not far from my house|.

|Same everywhere; also, what was the meaning of the word hunt or be hunted that appeared in the sky earlier?|

|You know what I will do? Go and sleep and pretend that this is all a dream|.

The internet kept on drowning with posts, videos, and questions, to the point that the internet servers became slow.

The government quickly reassured the citizens that the matter would be looked into.

After a while, everyone retired to their beds, but they were still on high alert in case anything should happen.

The next day, no one went out. The government had issued a strict warning that no one was allowed to leave their house, and no one was allowed to go to work or school.

Police and soldiers are patrolling the whole country, making sure no one is disobeying the order.

Roads were closed, including all those areas where the portal seems to be located.

Scientists and various experts were all observing the portal for any hidden attributes or dangers.

It has been a whole week since the portal incident, and yet the experts haven't discovered anything.

Citizens nationwide were getting tired and complaining about staying at home, apart from Christopher, who was happy that he wouldn't be going to work for the time being.

One fateful day, the sunny peaceful afternoon suddenly became a bloody day, a day that can never be forgotten. The world had descended into tragedy, with lives lost, property destroyed, and so on.

The ruins and millions of corpses on the floor could only tell one tragic story.

Monsters such as goblins, orcs, two-headed wolves, and so on could be seen jumping out of different portals and running rampages on the street.

The armies and police forces tried to stop them, but it was no use; it takes two bullets to kill a goblin and more than 10 to kill an orc.

The monsters invaded many homes that were close to the portal, killing males and females, old and young.

Luckily for Christopher, any portal didn't open near his residence.

It took a lot of effort for the armies to finally eliminate the threats.

"Sir, all monsters in the surrounding areas have been eliminated," a young soldier stood talking to the commander.

"Great, you will be in charge of Unit 12, and I want you guys to patrol the community and keep a lookout for any monsters." "If you see one, immediately eliminate the threat," the commander said.

"Yes sir!" The young soldier spoke up and left to put the order into action.

(Sigh.) "We are only lucky this time because the monsters aren't much, but what about next time?" the commander thought.

He faced the portal in front of him, wondering, "Was that what the word meant by hunt or be hunted?" This question in his mind was not only asked by him but by billions of people across the globe who experienced the same incident.

People who were complaining that they were tired of staying home are now afraid.

Immediately, people were demanding that the government fix this problem before other monsters escape the portal again next week.

The world leaders once again had another meeting with the outcome that the soldiers and any civilians that volunteered should head inside the portal to kill whatever is on the other side; although this seems risky, it was the only solution they could think of.

Three days after the monster wave incident, the government declared that the armies would be entering different portals to know what danger lies inside and to also eliminate the threats there.

The government also announced that civilians who are willing to help the armies in eliminating the danger on the other side are welcome and will be paid the sum of one million dollars each if they survive. If by any chance they don't, the money will be given to their family members.

This was done to encourage the citizens, and surely it worked. Almost everyone, even those who weren't willing, was forced by their family members or wives to register at the city hall.

Christopher was also enticed by the amount the government promised to give out.

"With this, I won't work for that bastard boss of mine anymore," he said after he heard the news, leaving the apartment that he hasn't left for over a week now.

Christopher went to the city hall, and surely the place was filled with people.

People who came to register were dressed up in the kits provided by the government and ready to go while carrying one or a self-defense kit with them apart from the one that the government provided.

Everyone filled out a form requesting their bank details and next of kin and also made sure to sign a death warrant before they were provided the necessary gear and allowed to go on the expedition.

Each team is led by a group of soldiers in the front and back.

Since humans haven't known the danger level of each portal, which has different colors, they assume that every portal is the same, assigning different teams to explore each portal.

Christopher filled out the form and was equipped with self-defense gear and knives for attacking since he indicated in the form that he is not experienced with shooting.

After everything was done, each team was led to different portals.

The team, which Christopher was in, was led to a blue portal.

"Alright, move it. I will be in charge, so listen to me and try your best to survive. "You have wives, kids, and friends awaiting your glorious return," a tall, muscular man in a military uniform said.

After that, they all matched into the portal, and after everyone was inside, the portal color changed from blue to red.
