Demolished Heart

“CALIMESA! ZEKE! MCKENNA!” Staring at their dead bodies, as I fight the hold of a guard; twists and turns as I continue to struggle, to break free, halting. Just behind their dead bodies is Lexa smirking, staring at her as the smirk never slips off. Her eyes challenging me to say something; feeling my anger grow as I snarl at her, thrashing around in the guard's arm once again, trying to get the conniving bitch.

Messages From the Shadows

Once in my room, heading towards my desk to see three letters, sitting down, opening the first letter.

"Dear Ruth,

I've read your letter, and to answer your question, we would have to meet in person. I sent a two books to you. One book tells you about all the languages that have been or are still in use. The other is a book about creatures; I know you stay clear of any creatures in your kingdom in fear they'll report you to your parents. It may come in handy knowing a little more about your kingdom's creatures. Avoid them.

Sincerely, McKenna."

Looking at the two books before moving them and reading the next two letters- once done, it didn't tell me much besides the fact that Calimesa got me a Drause, so now I got to look for the small creature. Dropping everything, I search for the creature; checking all the little hiding spots in my room and having no luck. Not wanting to spend the rest of my night looking for the creature, I open the book McKenna got me hoping that the creature in it. Looking in the table of context and glancing down to the d's and it wasn't there; groaning as I slam the book shut. Throwing myself back onto the chair, when.

"Squeak!"

Looking down, I see the gray creature bending down to pick it up as I sit in the chair. Putting it on the desk and pointing at them.

"Your very hard to find." then I pick it up and say, "From now on you'll be sleeping in here but I have to set up your sleeping area, so don't move."

Heading towards my beside, taking a few things from my nightstand, as I grab an empty basket, and place it on top of the nightstand before heading to my closet, I take a small but nice size blanket that would work perfectly for the basket; back to the nightstand. I place the blanket down and I was right. It fits perfectly. Smiling to myself, I pull out a basket from under my bed and search for something that it can use for a pillow, sticking out my tongue a little as I continue to look for a pillow. Groaning, I slouch back and sigh; heading to the Drause, to see it asleep using my small box that was cushion- gently picking the box and it as I move carefully, making sure that I don't wake it up.

I get ready for bed when there was a knock on the door.

"One sec."

I yell as I finish getting dress, jogging to the door. I open it to see McKenna; shocked, but quickly glancing around before pulling her inside.

"Are you insane?", I whisper-yell.

"A little.", she says with a shrug.

"That's not funny McKenna.", I state with my arms crossed.

"I know, I know.", she says while raising her hands in surrender, then continues, "I needed to see you.", she says as she sits on my bed.

"Did you see something?", I ask sitting at my desk.

"It's not clear but yeah.", she says while rubbing the back of her neck.

"When did you see it?", I ask as I take a notebook out from the bottom drawer.

"Yesterday when I felt a magic spur.", she replies.

"Magic spur?", I ask causational.

"Mhm, a magic spur is when a magic user finally uses magic for the first time.", she explains.

"That doesn't technical answer my question.", I state carefully.

"When a magic user hasn't used magic from a young age, you're unable to control how much magic to use even if they think they're not using a lot.", she explains.

"I always thought a magic spur is more for either powerful magic users or a group of magic user's magic clashing with other magic users.", I point out.

"While that is true, there are rare occasions that it's neither of those.", she states.

"Mhm, want me to write what you say?", I ask.

"Mhm.", she hums.

I get a pen while she gets comfortable, not even two seconds later-

"The weather was cold is, I think it is or is winter. There were about eight people, one taunting while three being killed/ the person killing them, while two people were holding another back."

Eyes widen in shock as I write what I'm told. This got to be the scariest sight she's ever gotten to see and what I've heard.

"Well, we know that it's not happening soon.", I state.

"Mhm, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't come soon. I wish I'm able to see more than just the basic.", she groans out.

There's a fortune teller in the village. Want to come with me tomorrow and see if they're the real deal?", I ask while explaining.

"Mhm.", she hums again.

Shaking my head since it's always been like this after a vision; locking up the notebook and placing it back in its secret compartment before heading to my closet and grabbing an extra pair of clothes so she would be more comfortable. Once she changes, she falls asleep in bed, rushing to turn lights off before doing the same.

Waking up to a new room, exploring around the room, there's a nice fireplace along with an off white sofa with light grey pillows. As I continue to explore, I find a small kitchen and some blankets. Smiling softly, I grab a small blanket before I head back to the fireplace where I see a loveseat, so I take it and place the blanket, then head back to the kitchen to myself something to drink.

"Ruth!"

"Huh?"

"Are you alright?", Cheryl asks as she checks me over.

"Everything is fine. Do you need me?", I say, then ask.

"I've tried to get in contact with you.", she explains.

"How long?", I ask as I finished making her and mines drink.

"About ten to fifteen minutes.", she replies as we make our way to the living room.

We say nothing until we're seated and comfortable, placing my drink down and lighting the fireplace.

"Are you going to tell me why I wasn't able to contact you?", she asks, but in reality she demand.

"Something came up that was important."', I state.

"That doesn't-"

"Look, I see that I've worried you, but that doesn't mean I'm just going to tell you every little detail.", I growl.

She stares at me in shock as if I've slapped her. Seeing this made me shrug before busying myself with my drink.

"I am your GRANDMOTHER!", she snaps as her hand hits the coffee table.

Raising an eyebrow at her before continuing to drink.

"DON'T INGORE ME!"

Placing the cup down, glaring up, "You're correct, you are my grandmother BUT you're not actually alive."

"Were you not taught manner?", she hissed.

A snort comes out as I 'try' to stop from laughing; holding my stomach as I continue to laugh at her. Her face becomes a darker red than the original skin color- as her mouth opens, I quickly shut her up.

"IF you EVER insult the people who ACTUAL raised me again, I WON'T hesitant to do something about it."
