Demolished Heart

“CALIMESA! ZEKE! MCKENNA!” Staring at their dead bodies, as I fight the hold of a guard; twists and turns as I continue to struggle, to break free, halting. Just behind their dead bodies is Lexa smirking, staring at her as the smirk never slips off. Her eyes challenging me to say something; feeling my anger grow as I snarl at her, thrashing around in the guard's arm once again, trying to get the conniving bitch.

"Ah!"

Whipping around to see Cody's hand over his heart, rubbing the back of my neck while he glares at me.

"Why are you here?", he demands.

"Someone... okay, Liam and Harriet were in my room so I flew here.", I state.

"How long are you going to be here for?", he asks as he moves around his room.

Biting my lower lip before rubbing the back of my neck- "Well... that's... um.. that's going to be harder."

"What?"

"I need a new place to crash, but don't know where."

Cody opens his mouth, but I quickly cut him off.

"But I'll be out of here before nightfall."

"Ruth, you know that's-"

"I'm not endangering anyone I love.", I snap.

He sighs before nodding his head and leaving the room- once he's out of sight, walking around his room making sure that no one is around before heading off to the secret room to get the maps. Grabbing the maps, heading back to his room just as I hear someone enter the room; biting my lip, I listen in-

"You said she'll be here.", someone growled.

"I just told you what I was told."

"Well, they were wrong.", the first one growls.

"We're on the same side, idiot!", the second hissed.

"Can you smell her?", the first asks.

"Her scent is faint, which means she's been gone a while."

"Can you track her scent?"

"That's going to be harder.", the second responded.

"How long?"

"Ruffly around two hours.", they answered.

"We can't stay here for two hours!"

"Shut up and let me work, then!"

Glancing at the hidden room, but knowing I'll be leading them straight towards me- quietly but quickly grabbing the book, 'The Wolfire Family History', hoping I'll be able to make my scent disappear from one area to the next without it ever leading them to the scent's person.

'The spell will only work if the caster is half dragon, and the spell fells the caster is in danger; will it work.'

Scanning the page for the actual spell, before whispering, "Magic beware. The scent once here is found somewhere else and never shows the true scent is."

Closing the book before sniffing the air not smelling my scent-

"Find her!"
