CHAPTER 55

"I'm sorry but I have somewhere else to be, I'll see you tonight." Anne said as they stepped out of the school and Larisa had a glum expression on her face, thinking Anne didn't want to spend time with her because of Lothaire but truthfully, she had somewhere else to be. Her father had set up a date with a wealthy suitor for her which wasn't surprising as every wealthy parent wanted their children to marry only the best.

"Where are you going to?" Larisa asked.

"It's just another suitor my dad set me up with." Anne said flatly and she realized how lucky Larisa was to be able to choose the man she wanted and for a minute, she tried her best to look at the bright side of the situation, she had never seen her friend glow that much before and maybe she was really happy with him....Even though he was dangerous.

"Oh!" Larisa exclaimed, knowing Anne, she'd probably act like her crazy self and scare her suitor away which she had done a thousand times for every man her father had set her up with.

Larisa and Lothaire drove off in the Lamborghini after Anne had left to her date.

"Your friend is lucky you like her or I'd have drained every single blood from her body." Lothaire said immediately with a hint of anger in his voice even though his face was calm. Larisa shot him a wary look as he talked about draining the life from her friend.

"What?!" She panicked, thinking one of these days he might really do it if she ticked him even more. His gaze shifted from the road as he glanced at her for a split second with a sarcastic grin on his face as he said,

"Don't worry I won't, I bet her blood tastes bitter." He said with a darkened face and Larisa shuddered at the thought of him killing her friend and knowing Lothaire, he wouldn't hesitate to do it if he was seriously angered, she could only warn her friend to be careful around him.

"If you kill her, I'll never forgive you." Larisa stated with a serious expression and the corner of his lips curved up in a sinister smirk.

"I'd rather torture her, granting her death is rather too merciful for a creature like me." Lothaire said blatantly and she narrowed her eyes at him, alert at his words wondering if he was joking or not but she couldn't read him at all.

"You know she's my best friend right?" She said emancipating on the 'best friend'.

"You know I don't care if she is." Lothaire said lazily and she wondered if he was teasing her but she couldn't quite trust her instincts since he was a very cunning and enigmatic creature. She pressed her lips in a thin line, refusing to argue any more with him but the uneasiness could be seen on her face as her brows creased together.

"Don't worry I won't kill her..." Lothaire said and her face brightened with a small smile on it. "...Yet." He continued and Larisa's face turned to a gloomy one as she glared at him. She knew he was teasing her but still, she was wary about his words.

Immediately they arrived at her apartment after having lunch, Larisa slumped on the bed and succumbed into a deep sleep as she was tired.

Larisa fluttered her eyelashes open after having her rest but she was surprised at how quickly the skies had gone dark but she realized she had slept too long as the sleep totally disappeared from her eyes. She was supposed to have dinner with her parents and Anne by seven but seeing the dark skies, it was probably past seven which meant she was late. She rushed off the bed in a panicked state that she had kept her parents waiting when her eyes fell on Lothaire sitting on a chair as he watched her with long legs crossed.

"Why didn't you wake me up?" She asked as she diverted her gaze to the clock which stated that it was half past eight.

"You were asleep." He replied in the most logical answer.

"We have dinner with my parents, I told you before and now we're late." She said as she got off the bed and hurried to the bathroom.

"Why would I disturb your sleep for something so frivolous?" He asked rhetorically as he had a blank expression on his face. She halted at the bathroom door when he spoke and mechanically turned around to face him.

"Please I'm begging you Lothaire, can you just be a gentleman for just one night?" She pleaded with big hazel eyes begging him to behave like a gentleman, something he was alien to.

"I'm not a gentleman and it doesn't matter if your parents accept me or not." Lothaire said with a carefree tone as he stared deeply into her hazel eyes.

"It doesn't matter to you but it matters to me, they're my parents and I'm asking you for a favour to be a gentleman. You can do that much for me right?" She said with a small voice and Lothaire sighed deeply before saying,

"I'll be a gentleman so much you won't even recognize me anymore." Lothaire said with a charming smile and she grinned happily at him before dashing into the bathroom to prepare for the dinner.

Larisa came out minutes later in a plum, short dress and her brown hair tied in a ponytail and Lothaire shot his gaze at her which stopped at her feet.

"Why aren't you wearing heels?" He asked plainly as he sighted the white sneakers on her feet. She glanced at her feet before returning it to him.

"This is much more comfortable." She said with a small smile but he just gave her a silent stare. "Won't you get ready?" She asked, diverting the question.

"I'm already ready." He said with a serious expression as he stood up. He was wearing a black long sleeve, well ironed shirt tucked in black pants, it was simple but he looked elegant in whatever he wore.

They got seated in the car and zoomed off to her parent's, every second they got nearer to her parent's made her heart thud louder in nervousness and her stomach tied itself in a knot, she felt nauseous.

"You don't have anything to be worried about, I'll make sure they love me." Lothaire said in assurance with a sinister smile on his lips. She knew he was lacking seriousness but she trusted his words and just nodded as they drove nearer to their destination.

The car stopped in front of her parent's medium sized bungalow house and her nervousness worsened until she felt Lothaire's warm hands on hers, gently squeezing it in comfort and her nervousness disappeared. Lothaire was by her side so she had no reason to be scared and her confidence sky rocketed as they got out off the car and stood in front of the door. She pressed the doorbell and she heard it chin loudly inside the house. The door opened to reveal Anne with a smile on her face as she saw her.

"You're so dead! How could you leave me all alone with your crazy mom for like two whole hours, I almost died." Anne exaggerated as they walked into the house, ignoring Lothaire but he didn't spare her a glance as his eyes roamed about the house. It was a small house compared to his but it was neat and nicely furnished and oddly comfortable.

His eyes stopped on the family portrait in the living room. He could see his Angel standing between her parents in the photo grinning happily, she was about sixteen and as beautiful as ever. A small smile formed on his lips as he stared at her baby pictures being displayed on the shelf and his smile widened.

Anne watched Lothaire for a moment as he smiled seeing Larisa's pictures and his dangerous aura seemed to brighten a bit.

"Larisa!" Her mother chirped happily when Larisa walked into her at the dining table. Her mother hugged her tightly like she hadn't seen her for years when it was only two months.

"Mom, I missed you. Where's dad?" Larisa asked as she strained her eyes for her father until a man in his mid fifties came out of the hallway with a grin on his face, opening his arms wide to hug her.

"I heard you brought someone with you. Anne told us it was a man." Her father said while hugging her and she pulled out of his embrace to look at his face.

"Yes." She replied as her eyes searched for Lothaire wondering where he was until he came into view from the living room. Her mother's gaze locked with Lothaire's intimidating golden one and the glass cups in her hold made a clatter as they fell to the ground.
