Its all about the anti graviton relations and how the shield works.

I could ignore it like some kind of normal writer only concerned with entertaining you but for my sake, I have to make some additions and changes. So here are the concepts I'll try to follow from now on!

But remember that my logic doesn't need to be perfect, it exists for the sake of the character and story. Like in the average comic book too.

1- There is normal and anti gravitons. Both have positive and negative charges.

2- Unlike electrons, similar attracts and different opposes.

3- Anti gravitons do not come about naturally in the universe, except from specific resources. Negative gravitons can be generated by the special biological beings able of flight in the universe. Or from Nth metal, which is magic so that's a little different.

4- Matter except from these exceptions have a limited yet constant charge of gravitons. When its gone, it's gone forever.

5- When both normal and anti gravitons come into contact, they neutralize. As they are so small, they do not have the capacity to simply blow up like one would expect. They merge into photons and tachyons.

6- Energy/Light/magic can ignore gravity or overpower it so that means only matter is affected.

What does all that change? The protagonist's shield is not out of anti gravitons but negative normal ones. He also would need another force field around him to counter most energy attacks of relatively low power. Lacking that is why Darkseid's fist hurt him and the armor so badly.

But what about the laws of energy? Where does the kinetic force go when a physical attack is stopped instantly in mid air? Well in the air and in the nearest objects around. It turns to heat as well. Eventually, someone will hit it so hard that the resulting energy will be atomic.

So let's say since that fight he has had another shield behind the first one to protect him from such damage.
