Ch 3: Happy Birthday

Gotham City. Police Station.

"Another murder made by 'Brute'?" Harvey asked while smocking. Jacob just nodded his head and headed towards his desk.

"That one is a really heavy case you know? Killed 56 people in one month need to say real psychopath you got there." Just as Harvey was about to suck his cigarette someone took it from his mouth. "And you need to stop smoking in the office."

A woman with black hair said while throwing his cigarette into a trash can. "You know that's 1.99 dollars right Renee?"

"Huh, since when did one cigarette this expensive?" A woman named Renee asked while looking at Harvey 'really?' look.

"I brought that from Jack with that price. I run out of cigarettes and forget to buy one on my way." Harvey explained then looked at his fellow detective. Who just shrugged his shoulder before focusing back on his work.

"Just deduce it from the money you owe me," Renee said while heading towards her desk.

"What money do I owe you?" Harvey shouted after her.

"30 dollars you lost me in bet. You still didn't pay me." Renee shouted to Harvey before focusing on the documents on her desk.

"Oh my gosh. She still remembers it." this was the only thing Harvey muttered before quite down.

While this conversation happening Jacob was sitting at his desk and checking what was recorded in the memory card. And he was immediately disgusted when he saw it. This memory card was full of videos about Mike and his friends raping girls. Just as he was about to stop checking the video one thing caught his eye.

Their last video was yesterday 8 PM. So it might be recorded what happened when they died. So start playing the last video they recorded.

Like usual they all started with them pinning the girl into a wall while this guy named Mike started recording. But suddenly someone karate-chopped their leader. The attack was so strong it directly crushed their leader's skull. Their leader didn't have time to feel the pain. After that Mike dropped the camera and start screaming in pain.

And rest of the video only shows a girl shivering against a wall while watching the whole murder process. After a few seconds, later the scream quieted down and someone destroys the camera. The video seems didn't to provide much but it did. It shows them there are witnesses.

Seeing that there is a witness who saw the whole process Jacob jumps up from his seat in excitement. He quickly grabbed the coat he just hung and rushed out of the police station.

And Jacob's partner who was just coming in with a box of donuts suddenly saw his partner leaving could only let out a sigh and follow behind him.

Gotham City. Gotham Academy.

*Knock, knock, knock.*

"Come in." The Dean of the academy Emily Charles said while checking documents in front of her desk. Then her assistant comes in with Jacob and his partner.

"Hello, Miss Emily Charles. I apologize for my rudeness. You see we are here for a very urgent matter." Jacob said with a plain tone but even so you can hear strange emotion inside this plain tone of his.

"If it was so an urgent matter you wouldn't be saying this kind of useless thing Mr. Detective," Emily said while lifting her glasses.

"Well, I guess you are right. So let's get into the important matter." Saying that Jacob throws a photo of the victim girl and said: "Do you know her?"

"Lili Watcher one of our star students never gets in trouble or caused one also all her grades are the best in the class. But today suddenly her mother asked her to leave for her class with her classroom teacher. Something happened to her?"

"Yesterday time about 8 PM she was almost raped by four guys. But they didn't manage to because someone murdered all four of them. And she is the only witness. We are here to ask for her address."

"I see. Here is what you want." With that Emily give them the address of Lili Watcher without asking much. Jacob and his partner didn't ask much either and left quietly.

Gotham City. Unknown Apartment.

*Knock, knock, knock, knock.*

"Open the damn door already! You dumb bitch!" The middle-aged fat man said while knocking on the door while holding a bottle of half-drunken alcohol.

Just as he was screaming someone bumped him. The person who bumped him was Jason. He was wearing glasses, a black hoodie shirt, and blue jeans. The fat middle-aged man was angry and was about to catch Jason's hand but he suddenly heard a noise from the door. He turn around and saw the door was opened a little creating a little gap and a woman is seeing between the gaps.

Seeing who was another side of the door woman suddenly closed the door. Seeing this the fat man's anger reaches its peak and starts hitting the door like crazy. While cursing like it's the only language he knows. While this is happening Jason already left the building.

On the other side of the door that the fat man is knocking woman is shivering like crazy while leaning on the door. From time to time tear drops will fall on the floor. The reason for her shivering wasn't her husband but Jason beside her husband.

A few minutes ago they heard a knock on the window. At first, she didn't care about it much but suddenly the knocking sound becomes louder and louder so, in the end, she goes to their living room to see who is knocking on the window. Any person who was knocking on the window was, of course, Jason.

The woman was annoyed and was about to say something she remembered they live on the fourth floor. She also noticed Jason was upside down she start trembling and opened the window tremblingly. A window was only 40X40 cm she never imagined someone getting inside using it.

Then Jason had a little 'heart-to-heart' talk with them and also reminded them about a few things before leaving using the window again. Then he comes down by using the door from the top floor. And before he leave he also reminded them by making a hush motion.

"~'Cause baby, now we got bad blood

You know it used to be mad love~"

While leaving Jason is humming a little song in his mouth. Right before he left the building he saw Jacob and his partner. He saw two police but didn't care much they just greeted each other briefly before going to the next floor.

Jason didn't care much about it and was still humming a song in his mouth: "~ So take a look what you've done

'Cause baby, now we've got bad blood, hey!~"

When the police officer reaches the fourth floor and opens the door of Lili Watcher which is the door that the fat man was knocking on. But once they get there the door was opened and the sight they saw a woman Jason 'talked' killed her husband. While holding bloodied knife in her hand.

"~Now we've got problems

And I don't think we can solve 'em~"

Jacob and his partner are screaming on a walkie-talkie while driving like crazy. They never expected the home of the witness is only a few hundred meters away from the place where Mike and his friends died. Which happened to be the same building where Jason's Uncle Andrew is living with his family.

"~You made a really deep cut

And baby, now we've got bad blood, hey!~"

After Jason get out of the building he looked at his watch and saw the time was about to hit 1 PM. A creepy smile appeared on his face then he looked at the fifth floor where his Uncle live and did a little bye-bye motion before disappearing into the darkness.

"~ Did you have to do this?

I was thinking that you could be trusted

Did you have to ruin what was shiny?

Now it's all rusted ~"

*Boom!*

Suddenly the fifth floor explodes and the fire starts spreading like crazy.

"~ Did you have to hit me where I'm weak?

Baby, I couldn't breathe

And rub it in so deep

Salt in the wound like you're laughing right at me~"
