Chapter 32

*

I ended up bribing Tyler to stay quiet about Ethan, not that it was a big deal, I just didn't want my parents to think anything is going on between us and skipping school for me.

My parents are suckers for a good teen romance story, I can't count how many times they binged watched Teen wolf and Twilight.

Anyways, a week later my friend came over like we usually do each week and I got to review all their notes on the classes I missed the previous week. I eventually ended up with mostly Ace's and Jack's notes but in short, we all had a great time together.

It was already 9:15 when I and AJ finished our homework and AJ fell on my bed like someone who just ran a marathon.

"It's just homework, you don't always have to be dramatic about it." I said placing the books in my backpack.

"Just homework... That thing is another form of mental torture from teachers to unsuspecting students like me and smart ass students like you encouraging them." She said as if defending herself.

"Sure, whatever floats your boat." I said to scroll through Netflix for something to watch.

"So, leave school now, what's up with you and the school's hottest jock?" AJ was inching closer to me.

"Who... Do you mean Ethan?!?... We're what, like childhood friends, I'm even sure we took a bath together then." I said settling for the second season of sex education.

"Gross, why are you watching this show?" She stared at the screen in disgust.

"Why? what's wrong with it?"

"Firstly, it's clearly not accurate enough and secondly, that's clearly not an ideal school environment..." And AJ went on and on about what was wrong with the show but ended up watching it with me, good thing she was sleeping over.

The next day went by in a blur since all I could think about was going to Mr Jonathan's book shop. I counted down with the class close to when the bell rang, I stuffed my stuff in my bag but was blocked by a human wall.

"Hey, where you off to in such a rush?" Ethan asked.

"None of your business loser." I said with a sarcastic smile pushing him away.

"Ouch, that hurt, and in more places than one. Come on, tell me I'd love to tag along." Ethan said playfully by my side.

I could feel the eyes of people around us... seeing that it's been a while since I got back to school... also I and Ethan started acting all buddy-buddy all of a sudden and people had started talking about how I stole Ethan from Morgan and that was the reason she had stopped coming to school.

I mean could you believe the nerve of these people, anyway, I had a bigger fish to fry and Ethan nor those gossiping eyes were the least of my problems.

But I had to shake him off one way or another.

"Look Ethan, I have to meet someone for a very important meeting so I need to go, like right now." I pleaded to face him.

"That's cool, I could take you there and wait for you." He said walking past me. I rolled my eyes again and ran in front of him again.

"We're already attracting a lot of attention and I'm really not fine with it," I started letting out a sigh.

"Okay, let's make a deal, how about you let me go today and tomorrow after school you can take me out?"

"Like a date?" I could hear the excitement in his voice and it was so cute but I needed to leave.

"No, a friendly date sure." I corrected him.

"If you let me call it a date then I'll let you go." I contemplated within me but we were making a scene and I needed to move.

"Fine, call it whatever you want." I said pushing past him.

"It's a date then, but I'm still dropping you off!" Ethan said taking my hand and running through the hall not giving me a chance to protest... The nerve of this guy.

But it definitely was faster than me waiting for the bus plus I have someone to talk to on the way than being swallowed up by my thoughts.

I told Ethan to drop me in front of Jonathan's bookshop instead of crossing the road from Joe's Cafe, I got down and waved Ethan goodbye before turning around and trying the doorknob to the bookshop.

Surprisedly, it opened. I walked into the dark dusty store, as far as I can remember it's been almost a month since I've been here.

"Hello! Mr Jonathan? Gwendal? Is anyone here??" I slowly walked in.

Immediately the lights came on and I was thrown back into a dusting chair, I couldn't see because of the dust and coughed because of it.

"Gwendal! You must be more careful with our guest, are you okay my dear?" I heard a voice as the dust settled.

"I (cough)- I'm fine (cough)." I answered coughing in-between.

"Good, we've been expecting you. I believe it's safe to say you've met your spirit guide, I hope you're comfortable with him around, I assume you've been friends for a while now, right?" the dust settled and I saw both Gwendal and Mr Jonathan seated in front of me, but what he said caught my attention.

"You already know about Robert?" I asked surprised.

"Yes- but we refer to him as prince Xander." Mr Jonathan answered me.

I stared at both of them hysterically, I mean if he already knew about Robert or Xander as they called him.

"Then does that mean Robert was telling me the truth?" I asked afraid of what come next.

"Well, that will depend on what our dear prince has told you, I might be a magistrate but I and no mind reader." Mr Jonathan said waving his hand in space.

A small table with a platter of biscuits and tea was on top, Mr Jonathan picked up a cup and poured some tea in it.

"Tea?" He asked, right now I needed answers and not tea, so I shook my head.

"Well- he said that I'm some sort of princess? of that place, you said I'm supposed to protect, So-ra-ni-a right? But I'm sure he was wrong right? I'm Jessica Anderson, my whole family lives here." I asked.

I could see Gwendal chuckle from the corner of my eye, this wasn't a laughing situation, I was about to speak up when Mr Jonathan distracted me.

"What he said is the truth I'm afraid." Mr Jonathan said seriously.

"I was among the few who know about your existence princess Aine." Mr Jonathan said to call an unknown name.

"What? Who's Aine?" Did I ask?

"That was the name your mother and the king of Aniva decided to give you before you were sent to this realm for your safety." I stared at Mr Jonathan with disbelief, none of this could be true.

"Let me explain my dear," Mr Jonathan started.

"After the fight between your mother the queen and her sister, a curse was placed on you, that you would be the cause of your mother's death and unfortunately that was the case. On the night of your birth, with her last breath she sealed the rest of her powers in you locking both your power as a royal and her till your 18th birthday, on that day you will truly shine and also all of Sorania will know that the heir to the throne lives." I was about to say something before Mr Jonathan continued.

"Your grandfather would be so happy to have you back."

I couldn't believe my ears, it all sounded like something scripted by an amateur or a poorly written page from Harry Potter, I didn't even know when I started laughing.

"I think you've got the wrong person, sure I was treated like a princess ally life but that doesn't qualify me as one right?" I asked still laughing.

"Look, my big brother told me that we had the same Mom and Dad, I highly doubt he would lie to me. As a matter of fact, I trust him more than I trust you." I stood up in anger about to leave.

"Then I do hope you have enough time till your 18th birthday." Mr Jonathan said calmly drinking his tea.

"Jokes on you, my birthday is next month and I'm going to have the biggest party ever." I replied with pride but still angry.

"I advise you, not young Princess, on that day all your powers will manifest as a royal of Sorania..." He started.

"You also have to cut ties with this world in order to defend Altheda, remember not only is our realm in danger but this world is also in danger. It is all left for you to decide, it's time for The Dawn of A Guardian." He said those words with so much emphasis.

And before I know it another smoke screen filled up the book shop again, I managed to find my way out before I would choke to death.
