Chapter 21
The little bell rang as I entered the café alerting the employees of a new costumer
I scanned the area looking around for Robert while walking over to the counter thinking probably he was at the back.
"Hello, what can I get for you" The guy standing behind the counter asked
"Hi, mm- is Robert working today"
"Nah, he worked the late night shift yesterday, I don't think he's coming in today" he replied while cleaning the counter top
"Oh"
"Okay, is there anything else I can help you with?" He asked again
"Sure, I'll just have a cheesecake and ice tea with whipped cream and sprinkles" the guy supposingly named Jeff from him name tag stopped writing and looked at me like I had something on my face
"Will that be all?"Jeff asked raising an eyebrow, I had a feeling he asked out of curiosity
"No, I'm good thanks"
"Okay so your order will be out in the next 5 minutes, is that okay" I nodded and went away to find a booth to sulk in
After a few minutes
"I didn't know you'd actually ditch school to come find me. I must say I'm deeply touched" My eyes grew as I recognized the voice
"Robert!!"
"In the flesh" he replied with a smile
I've never been more happier to see a person in my life
"I thought you were off today" I asked
"True, but that doesn't mean I'd miss out on the best cheesecake this city has to offer" he winked
I shook my head at his cockiness and smiled, I actually felt relieved for the first time since I left school today
"So can I sit or do you want me to wait on you the whole day" Robert asked playfully
"Well, either way's fine with me but I wouldn't mind you waiting on me the whole day" Wait! Did I just act sassy
"Was that sass right now, hmm I'm beginning to think you're more into me than I'm into you" Robert said wiggling his brows
"Just shut up and sit down" I said looking away embarrassed
"Sure sure, here your order miss with an extra dash of sprinkles and for me, a cheesecake with a chocolate milkshake" Robert said placing our orders in front of us
"Oh yeah, I need to pay so I-"
"Already covered" He said with a sense of pride
"Huh"
"You insult me, what kind of gentleman would I be if I let a beautiful lady pay for her food" he said in a fake British accent
"Eh, I don't know, a considerate one" I fired back
"Wo wo, calm down, I meant no harm. Okay, I'm sorry" Robert said raising his hands up in surrender
"No no, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I snapped at you, I just didn't want you to look at me like I'm just friends with you for free food. I'm not that type of girl" I could feel my face getting redder as I spoke
"It's fine, I'm sorry I didn't ask for your permission before I paid for your food, but I still wouldn't mind if we were FFF's" he said sipping his milkshake loudly
"FF-what"
"Friends For Food" he said with a big smile
"You're weird" and we both laughed
It was over an hour and we were still talking which was fine with me cause' I really loved his company
I looked at my watch and realized it was still early, Robert was saying something about a client from his therapy job
Even though he wasn't supposed to talk about people's problems with an outsider
"So where do you wanna go from here" Robert asked
"I actually have no idea, all I thought about when I left school was this delicious cheesecake" I said taking the last bite of my pastry
"Is that so now, are you sure that's all you came looking for" Robert said looking at me closely
"Would you stop flirting already" I said
"Fine, do you wanna watch a movie" he asked
I didn't know if it was ok to be having so much fun, cause from all I've gathered everyone changed according to how I wanted them to adjust
But for some reason Robert was exactly the same, only that he didn't know me.
I guess I secretly wish we'd meet again in another timeline and now i think things would have been better if I had stopped obsessing over Ethan
"Please...., Come on, it'll be fun and I promise to let you pay for your own snacks, Chipmunk's honours" Robert said as if he were taking a pledge

"Fine, only of I can pay for your's too" Robert thought for awhile before agreeing
"Cool, so to the mall then, oh and no horror movies" I probably imagined it but I saw a glit in his eyes but it was gone within a second
"Sure, let's go" Robert stood up ushering me out
"So did you bring your car, I actually came with mine" I asked Robert but he looked away,
"Well, I don't really have a car, so-" He said embarrassed
"Oh, I'm sorry, but if you don't mind we can use my car" I offered feeling bad for assuming things
"Sure, but only if I'm driving" he added
"Knock yourself out" I said tossing the keys to him
A few hours later
This might have been the best day of my life. We made it to the mall and watched a really funny movie together
We laughed so hard people were shushing us, then we went to get ice cream before closing the day with a long drive
I offered to drop him home but he something about it hurting his pride as a man or something
I got home at about 7:30, although I was happy I didn't forget I had something important to accomplish.
I walked into the house and it was dead quiet, l walked through the house and there was no one
I made my way to the kitchen and found a note on the fridge:
Sweetheart, your aunt Mandy just gave birth, we couldn't wait. So dinner's in the microwave. We'll be back late. Take care dear.
This was Mom's writing. I went over to the microwave took out my dinner, ate, and cleaned up the remaining dishes
I jogged up to my room and found the same sight as yesterday only worse, She was holding my Diary...
