Duel.

Adrian walked forward while his entire body was burning in the Abyss Fire. Every single step he took caused the Abyss to begin to spread causing the dark sludge of the Abyss to spread. Once he let it take hold of his body, it tried to push him over the edge.

In the back of his mind heard the whisper of the Devil. Trying to push him to let go into madness It was like he had something screaming for him to give in to his bloodlust, but it just pissed him off.

He ruled the Abyss. It was his bitch and he would fuck it if it had a hole to stick it in it. If it didn't, he would just make one.

He dodged to the side as a giant cut appeared in the open field. The slash went on for miles and quite deep as Adrian jumped to the other side as that partially collapsed.

"You dodged, I expected less from such a giant body."

Adrian did not speak as he had nothing to say. He planted his right foot forward while he lowered his center of gravity. He exploded forward as he swung his giant Fume Knight greatsword down on the King. The zombie caught his sword in his hands and was about to mock Adrian, but he was hit by a giant wave of Abyss Fire.

The giant wave of fire cut through his fingers and let the blade land on his shoulder driving him to the ground.

'IMPOSSIBLE!'

Adrian raised his foot and slammed down on the Zombie King's head to drive him to the ground. He punched his fist down into the hole and roared. He uses Flame Sorcery to cast Chaos Storm to cause a massive eruption of fire that spread for miles.

The Zombie King roared in agony as the corrupting effect of Adrian's soul ability was transferred into his Flame Sorcery. If that was not enough he could feel his soul being attacked so the King used his real power.

Adrian felt pain in his palm forcing him to jump back a kilometer as an explosion erupted from the ground. The charred body of the Zombie King emerged from the ground and started healing. Adrian looked at his hand and saw that the Zombie King bit him.

<You have been afflicted with the poison of the Zombie King. The result is a failure. The Abyss has destroyed the poison and you are already undead.>

The Zombie King fully healed his burns, but not the damage to his soul. He looked at Adrian with wariness as he took a sword stace. Adrian held both swords as he got ready for another clash. He won the first one because the King underestimated him.

The zombie felt insulted that he had been wounded and cursed for a few seconds. He looked to the hole he emerged from and noticed that everywhere that Adrian's flames touched was corrupted.

"I misjudged you giant. You are too dangerous to be left alive. You are a threat to my escape from this accursed tower."

"I am sure she put you here for a reason."

He grit his teeth as he gave Adrian some news.

"She didn't. She made this Tower on a whim just for you. She collected different kingdoms, people, monsters, and people just to make this blasted Tower just to reward you. My kingdom was already dying, but what do you care."

Adrian nodded.

"Your right, I don't. Shut up and fight so I can win already"

He swore to kill Adrian and find a way to kill him permanently. He knew if Adrian made it to the very top of the Tower he would gain the reward Death prepared for him. He had to prevent that at all costs.

Adrian did not know that he was seen as the villain and the Zombie King was the hero. Even if he did, he would not care. Adrian pointed his Greatsword forward as he got focused. Adrian did not activate Life Hunt yet, but he knew it would be soon.

The Zombie King held his katana in both hands which were his preferred sword style. His eyes glowed bright silver as he spread up his thinking speed. He analyzed Adrian's armor and found no flaws. He could not see under it either as the Hannibal filled in those weak spots with his shadow flames.

'That does not help me much. I will just have to cut him limb from limb slowly.'

He vanished and appeared on Adrian's blindspot and slashed his blade behind Adrian's knee. Adrian channeled as much Abyss Fire to the area and waited for the blade to cut his flesh.

The blade cut through his muscle, but not his bones as his plan worked. Adrian clenched the muscles around the blade as he swung upward with his longsword at the King. The King's blade was stuck in Adrian's flesh for less than a second, but he was forced to let go.

The Abyss Fire was deadly and those blades were coursing with it. He dodged backward, but he charged back to not lose initiative. He held his hand out and called back his sword to him. It was ripped out of Adrian's leg causing the wound to leak the Abyss.

Adrian did not even feel pain as the wound healed before it could bother him. He vanished and swung his two swords with considerable dexterity. The two blades moved like serpents causing the Katana to continue to clash with both.

Adrian was being pushed back as despite having access to Amara's mana, it did not mean that he could drain all of it at once. Wounds started to appear in the tiny openings his armor had, that healed up without issue.

The Zombie King was having a hard time with even the small ones. From time to time the Longsword flashed Silver and he felt a sense of weakness after. He thought it was caused by Corruption, but it was something different.

The longsword of Adrian was fast and deadly and just when he blocked the greatsword it flashed silver and cut open his throat. He was not used to dodging such wounds as he was a Zombie. He would be immune to such wounds, but not when it came to Adrian.

The corrupting effect began to attack his body and even his soul. He suffered several wounds that made him feel drained and lightheaded. Adrian seemed to be getting stronger as the fight went on as the Zombie King weakened.

'What is going on.'

He activated his soul vision which had a delay that had never happened. When he looked at Adrian all he saw was Habbibal the soul of the armor. He could not see Adrian's soul at all as Habbibal was blocking his Soul Vission. If the King saw it he could see Life Hunt.

That was why the King was feeling drained with every cut. Such an ability could even hurt gods, a Zombie would not be any different. Just as the Zombie King was forced to use more negative energy to keep the spread of the Abyss he noticed it was not working.

This time the weakness was far greater as he lost more energy and his mind felt foggy.

'What did he do to me?'

He backed away from Adrian as he held his throat. The white skin began to turn black from the corruption, but some did not heal. Adrian walked forward as he absorbed the Life force and Soul energy of the Zombie once again.

'Thank you, Priscilla. She will have an easy time with these zombies. No, this is a buffet for her. How strong will my girl get? Seraphine will also not struggle as Nito is the Lord of the dead. She might come back with an army.'

Adrian did not use Life Hunt during the main battle as he wanted to perverse their souls. As for the Zombie King, he was going to devour his soul. He picked out 10 Zombie Knight souls and used Life Hunt on them.

Their energy was absorbed by his soul and made his power grow exponentially. The Zombie King looked at his soul and saw something shocking. His soul was missing small parts of itself and it was burned in others.

"You drained my soul. That is-"

Adrian did not bother to answer as both his blades flashed in Life Hunt. The Zombie King used Negative Energy to heal his body, but not his soul. He had to avoid being injured at all costs now.

Adrian slashed tens of times launching large slashes that the king dodged or deflected. He and the Zombie King charged as they clashed many times over causing the field to be torn open by every single one of their attacks.

Adrian and the Zombie King got in a sword lock as Adrian used the energy from the souls he absorbed to focus on his strength. He began to push the Zombie backward which shook it to the core.

The King unleashed his full aura that began to worsen the wounds on his soul. He did not care as he needed to kill Adrian.

"You are too dangerous to be left alive. Your hunger for souls will never end."

The entire field was shaking and Adrian had no idea how big it was. The Zombie King flashed in front of him and cleaved down on his right arm to take his main arm from him. The Katana cut through the metal of his arm, his skin, his muscles, and even his bones to claim his arm.

However, Adrian prepared to sacrifice his arm as he stabbed his longsword into the Zombie King's guts. The momentum caused by the King's jump made the blade cut up to his stomach to his sternum.

'LIFE HUNT!'

As long as his blade was inside the Zombie, it was a buffet. He kept draining the King's soul and Death Force the opposite of Life Force. He did not even react when his arm fell from his body, but the Zombie King did.

He roared and punched Adrina full force in the chest denting his armor and causing Adrian's rib cage to crack. Adrian stabbed his longsword into the ground to stop himself and he only stopped when he was blasted for over a hundred miles.

He noticed how his armor was cracked in some places while his right arm was just gone. He absorbed the energy he gained from the zombie's soul which let him grow stronger. He made a sarcastic remark that the Zombie King heard.

"Just great, how will I ever manage with just one arm. Oh wait, I can regenerate."

His arm regrew in a flash of Abyss Fire that returned his arm to perfection. The Zombie King coughed as black veins grew all over his body. Negative energy flushed through his body trying to expel the corruption caused by Adrian's soul ability and his fire.

However, he could barely stand as Life Hunt could even affect beings stronger than oneself. It was why Priscilla was so feared and she gave that power to Adrian as a promise. He needed to spoil her when he finished wiht this meal.

Adrian's armor and sword in his old arm flew back to him He grabbed his sword while his armor covered his new arm. The Zombie King looked at the large cut on his body and knew that he lost far more in that exchange than Adrian.

No matter how much negative energy he sent toward the wound it refused to close. The cut revealed everything behind him as his guts and even parts of his organs spilled from the wound. He felt he lost 20% of his soul in that exchange making him feel weak.

He looked at Adrian who was walking toward him. The Zombie King's walked forward as he tried to stay standing. That much damage was too much, but he pushed himself again. In their battle sands began to collapse to reveal a giant castle hidden away.

Adrian did not bother to look at it as the Zombie King took a stance. Adrian knew that the time for games ended as the Zombie was fighting for his life and to stop a monster like Adrian. From the castle, thousands more souls flew toward the king.

Those were the still dormant Zombies hidden under the sands. The Zombie King was sacrificing his people to put Adrian down. From the castle emerged a chained blade that landed in front of the Zombie King.

"I have used the lives of my people to kill you. This blade has been in our kingdom for ages and you ar the first to taste its metal."

When the chains broke, the King drew the broad sword and dropped his Katana. Adrian could tell he could not win this fight anymore so he gave up.

"If you aren't going to play fair, neither do I."

From behind Adrian, a giant black portal opened up and the biggest dragon the Zombie King had ever seen emerged. Amara stood over her master with her wings unfurled glaring at the Zombie King.

He had not seen Amara before and he felt insignificant. She vanished from view and clenched his clawed hand and punched down on the king full force causing shock waves to shake the entire field. Adrian grabbed onto her leg to avoid being blasted as he knew something about Heavenly Dragons.

In their prime, they could destroy the world just wiht their physical strength.

<Zombie King's Soul retrieved.>

'How about his gear?'

<The blades survived.>

Amara looked down as Adrian emerged from under her.

"Thank you, Amara. I would have won if I have done the same, but I have a use for those souls. I had to rely on you mostly though."

She shook her head.

'You can rely on me all you want master.'

Adrian walked forward and saw a giant crater that seemed to have no end.

"Amara, try to hold back on Earth. You will destroy it with your might."

She nodded as she looked at the castle that survived.

'Master, will you check out the castle?'

"He took their souls, but their bodies must still be there. Who knows what other riches are lying in waiting, but first."

Adrina brought out the soul of the Zombie King which was larger than a house. He felt pure hunger at the sight of it as he kept his promise.

"Life Hunt."

I will go over what the others experienced in their challenges next chapter.
