Chapter Four

"We're here, girls," Our driver tells us as he parks the car in front of the airport, gets out, opens my door for me, then goes to the back and gets our bags out.

"Thank you, Chad," I tell him as I get out with Tara.

"It's no problem," he says.

"Come on Tara," I tell her. "We're almost late for our flight," I dragged her. And it's true, we woke up late, and now we're dealing with tardiness.

"Have a great flight, girls," Chad calls as we run.

"I'm coming, god, stop dragging me like a puppy dog," She says, rolling her eyes and pulling her arm from my grip and running behind me.

"Well then hurry up," I tell her.

---

When we got to the door, a girl, part of the cabin crew, stopped us and took our tickets.

"You were almost late there," She says, giving me a sweet smile.

"I know," I told her, when she took care of our tickets, we followed her.

"You two will be in here for first-class," She leads us into a nice furnished part of the plane. It was nice. I'm not saying that I've never been on a plane, but when I was younger and went with my mom and dad, we usually had a business class. This is the first time I remember being in First Class.

"It's nice," Tara says looking around. As do I. "I can't remember the last time I was on a plane," She says.

"Have you ever taken First Class?" I ask, sitting on the black sofa.

"Yeah, it was when my parents sent me to the school, but that was the only time," She says. "Both being on a plane and in first class," She finishes, sitting next to me.

"Flight Attendants, prepare for take-off please," A male voice came over the intercom. That's when the flight attendants showed us how to work the seat belts. A few minutes later, the same voice came over the intercom. "Cabin Crew, please take your seats for take-off," Within a minute later, I felt the plane moving. "Everyone, please keep your seatbelts on," The same voice said before I felt us take off into the air.

"I hope y'all will be fine with no breaks," A flight attendant comes up to us about 10 minutes later after we take off.

"Let's hope," I say.

"So what're y'all names?" She asks with her southern accent. She had a beautiful light complexion that matched her light blonde hair, she looked to be under 30.

"I'm Cambry," I say, nicely. She does seem friendly.

"I'm Tara, you can call me Tar though," Tara says, giving her attention also.

"My name's Karen. It's nice to meet y'all. So where is y'all heading?" She asks.

"Australia," Tara says.

"Oh, that's beautiful country. I remember exploring there. My husband took me there on our honeymoon," She says.

"How old are you?" I ask.

"I'm 28," She says.

"Wow, you're young, especially to get married," Tara says, shocked.

"Yeah, I guess it was love at first sight," she says, staring at the ceiling dreamily.

"That's sweet," I say, hiding my actual thoughts which were: If only love was real.

"That is sweet," Tara agrees with me.

"Anyways, Can I get y'all anything?" She asks, standing up.

"Um, Yeah, can I get water and something to eat?" I ask.

"Of course, Cambry, and for you Tar?" She asks.

"I'll get the same as her," She answers.

---

After we ate, I felt a little exhausted.

"Karen, can you grab my black Minky out of my bag?" I ask since I brought a separate bag with me, not just my suitcase. Anyways, it has blankets and pillows, and it might have a few snacks.

"Of course," She says, walking away.

A few minutes later, she had my black Minky in her arms. She handed it to me.

"Thank you," I tell her, taking it from her.

"I didn't even think of that," Tara whines quietly.

"You want some?" I ask, unfolding my blanket the rest of the way. She nods her head and scoots closer to me. "Okay, take some," I tell her as I hand her some of my Minky.

"Thank you," She says.

"You're welcome," I say, already drifting off to sleep.

---

"I heard Jaxon's daughter was here," A voice said while walking from the cockpit(in other words, the pilot's den) into the first-class.

"Right through here, Ruger," A lady's voice says.

"Ms. Jaxon, I'm Ruger Jonas. How are you this fine evening?" He asks.

"Cambry is fine," I tell him as he sits next to me. About an hour ago, Tara fell asleep on the other couch and I covered her with my blanket.

"We miss your father. He was an amazing pilot," He says, shocking me.

"What?" I ask.

"Did you not hear?" He asks.

"No," I say.

"Your dad quit about three months ago. He said something about spending more time with his family. I figured he mentioned it to you," He says, also shocked. "Anyways, where are you coming from?" He asks, changing the subject.

"I'm coming from England," I tell him.

"So how's your mom doing?" He asks, apparently not aware that I haven't seen her or my father in five years. Wow, five years... I just realize it's been that long.

"I'm sorry. What did you say your name was?" I ask.

"Rugar Jonas," He says while motioning for the flight attendant to come over. "Can we get some milkshakes over here?" He asks. She nods and walks off.

"Oh yeah... my dad mentioned you when I was younger," I say.

"Yeah... he was an amazing pilot... he taught me a lot," He says, as soon as he said that, the flight attendant was back with milkshakes for me and him. "Great," He says, clapping his hands and taking them. "Thank you, Crystal," He says.

"You're welcome," She says, giving him a smile and walking away while swinging her hips... when she was out of sight, he said another thing that shocked me.

"I think all of these ladies enjoy trying to get us, pilot's attention... it doesn't work... I love my wife," He says, surprising me.

"Aren't you supposed to be driving the plane?" I ask, nervous that we might crash.

"My co-pilot took over," He says. "So, are you going home after a vacation or something?" He asks.

"Actually... I'm coming home for a break at my school that they sent me to," I answered him. His eyes almost popped out of his head.

"They sent you away?" he asks, confused. "But you seemed like such a happy family when you took those business trips... and he talked about you and your mother like you were his everything," He says, still confused.

"My parents sent me away five years ago when I was 12... I haven't seen them since... and then on Wednesday, my parents informed the school that they'd like to see me... and here I am," I say.

"Dang, that's tough," He says.

"Are we there?" A groggy voice asks me.

"Not yet," I answered her.

"How much longer," She asks, still not noticing Rugar. "Wait... who are you?" She asks, her eyes almost as wide as golf balls.

"My name is Rugar Jonas," He says holding his hand out for her to shake.

"And... who are you to my best friend?" She asks, getting all protective over me.

"He's my father's best friend," I tell her while rolling my eyes.

"Nice to meet you," She says after hearing my explanation. "Tara Maine, Cambry's best friend," She says, giving him a smile.
