Danmachi: the strange one

Life is funny, isn't it? At one point you are living your life normally and at home resting, yet at another you are wandering and being tortured in the depths of hell for all the crap you've done in life and the kindness you've failed to show. What's even funnier is that this wasn't the end... no no no... After all, if it was, I wouldn't be seeing a hole in reality leading to the unknown, right? Well, I have to hurry, my way out of this shitty hole is getting smaller and smaller. See you soon hahaha!!!! _______________________________________ Chapters when i feel like it. 3.Discoveries and new goals

[A/N: sorry for the delay, I was getting my driving license. Updates will return to one every 3 days].

As soon as she showed signs of waking up, I turned her onto her back and punched her in the spine, breaking her spine, and effectively paralyzing her neck for at least a few minutes. After all, we don't want a repeat of the previous event, do we? I can't risk having my head cut off, that would leave me vulnerable to whatever she wanted to do to me, and let's be honest, it wouldn't be nice.

"So, why did you attack me?"

I asked as I turned her back up.

"Food"

"Well, I don't blame you, I'm really delicious."

I replied as I bit into a piece of meat from my previously severed arm, noticing her looking at me strangely and shuddering.

"What? Do you want a piece?"

I confess I may sound a bit crazy now, but come on, everyone here has some screw missing.

"Well, never mind, explain that orange flash."

(Girl pov)

Since I arrived here all I remember was being tortured by a disfigured being that seemed to be made of burnt rotten meat, and the few times I was given something to eat, it was some meat of some unknown better with an extremely horrible taste.

I still don't know why I came here, before my death I never did anything noteworthy. Apart from being a bit jealous of my loved ones, I don't know what I did wrong, is it so bad to want what's yours to stay yours?

Yet, even though I always did my best for my family, they never reciprocated anything I did for them, instead, they betrayed me by sending me to a mental institution!!!!.

Can you believe it? After all I've done!

I remember crying for days. Hoping that one day they would come and get me saying that it was all a mistake and that they loved me, but no, they never came.

Till one day a doctor started looking at me strangely, lusting after me like a piece of meat!

Doesn't he know that my body belongs to my one true love that I still haven't found?

Damn, that's what it took to end what was left of my self-control, I got crazy, and all I saw after that was red, and the next thing I knew I was surrounded by blood and dead people.

As I realized what I had done I heard a crash and everything went black the last things I heard were

"Target neutralized, damn monster, rot in the depths of hell."

It seems they called the police after the commotion it caused, but I didn't care about dying, I didn't have anyone in my life anyway, at least after death I wouldn't have to care about anything anymore.

But apparently, life doesn't follow scripts, a short time later I found myself in a room with a strange scale with some red lights around me and I woke up here where I was tortured for what seemed like decades, until one day while my torturer was tearing the skin off one of my arms he was attacked from behind by some creature and fell on top of me, and while the beast bit his head off and killed him, all I could do was lie still and cringe while the creature feasted on his entrails.

Luckily for me, the creature soon finished its meal and left, while I stayed under the now-dead carcass for a few more hours to make sure it wasn't dessert, a scalding, golden-colored liquid oozed out of the carcass towards me, causing a pain that even after going through all that torture still seemed unbearable, which led me to lose consciousness for an unknown length of time.

When I woke up, a grinding noise far above me assaulted my ears, out of pure reflex, I pushed the carcass off me with all my strength, and to my surprise, the carcass flew a few meters away from me, but I didn't have much time to think, a grotesque worm came towards me trying to bite me, without too much thinking I swung my fist towards the worm with everything I had, hoping that once again I would be able to use the strange force that allowed me to move the carcass, and the result, although it wasn't what I expected, was welcome.

I could only see a flash of orange and heard an explosion of flesh.

I confess that I spent a good few minutes stunned and didn't fully understand what had happened, but I soon got rid of the fog that covered my mind and started to act, I can't stand by while I run the risk of more of these creatures appearing.

With that out of the way, I immediately started walking towards the unknown.

After a few encounters with some bastards, I began to get the hang of using this strange new energy that inhabited me. It's an odd, violent sensation that runs through my body and responds according to my desires, giving me surges of strength and these strange golden flashes that sporadically appear when I need them. Unfortunately, I can't use it the way I want, every time I use it I lose weight and run out of energy for a short time.

I've walked so much that I've lost track of time, I've seen many scenarios in hell, from dark mountains, and magma-flooded plains to macabre deserts. I stopped caring about the emotion called "fear" after all the horrors I saw in these places, which would give someone nightmares for the rest of someone's life on earth, here it's just something every day, you get used to it, who doesn't break down too quickly to see the disconcerting things and just become feed for the other bastards who come to this place.

On my long journey into the unknown, I tried my best not to use this energy that I'll call "Mana". Unfortunately, we can't have everything we want in life. Often something would attack me, strange monsters, lost souls who wanted something from me, and many others. I learned to hit first, ask questions later, and take anything else that was of any use to me, which wasn't much, the most valuable by far was the flesh of a strange creature, a poorly preserved cloak, and a tooth from one of those sand worms that was long enough to be used as a dagger, unfortunately, beggars can't choose.

One day, while walking through a desert that was in a state of eternal night and where the only sources of light were the scattered lava pits, I came across a figure with several cracks on the left side of its body, gray skin, messy green hair that reached down to its chin and a sturdy frame with broad shoulders that it wore only at first. My idea was to wait for it to pass and continue on my way, but unfortunately, that wouldn't be feasible.

I was already skinny and weak and my food had run out. If I gave up the chance to get something to eat and don't find anything else in the next few months, it's very likely that I won't be able to fight if the need arises, and that's asking to be devoured by the creatures that roam everywhere on this infernal plane.

So without wasting any time, I attacked him as quietly as I could, aiming for his neck. To my surprise, he apparently heard me and managed to redirect me with his forearm. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to decapitate him, I just cut off a good part of his arm and made a deep cut on his face, even after using mana. Well, I didn't have to think much after that, after all, he quickly got himself together and splashed blood on my face, which was followed by a punch to the middle of my face that threw me to the ground, and then everything started to go dark as he rained down punches on my head, breaking my skull in several parts and disfiguring me. I should have followed my instincts and let him pass.

*GRRRR*

I need to stop waking up like that, was that a growl?

*ugh*

As soon as I uttered a sound, I felt myself being turned face down on the floor. Fuck, I'm going to be raped?

*crack*

And that was my neck breaking, what does this bastard want from me? As soon as I was turned around again, I was immediately glazed over by eyes so green that they looked neon green as if an entire forest was squeezed into their eyes, black hair that seemed to be turning green at the roots, and a sharp face that could very well belong to a celebrity if it weren't for the gray skin and the cracks all over the side of his body.

He seemed to be saying something to me that I didn't fully hear because my ears weren't completely healed yet, which made me grimace strangely, then he took my previously-deep arm and brought it close to my face, specifically my mouth, did he want me to eat? is he crazy?

Without letting me go on, he put his severed arm up to his mouth, took a bite, and started chewing, which made my face look even stranger.

"You shouldn't refuse food here, you know? It doesn't matter where it comes from, whether it's your own or someone else's, food is food, otherwise 100% of the time you'll end up that way, even if you have these strange powers."

(Magnus pov)

While I was educating this girl a little about the basic dietary education of hell, I couldn't help but notice that the fact that she refused my arm means that she won't be here for long, I've met a few bastards on my journey here, just like her they were all thin as toothpicks, the difference is that when they attacked me I could see the hunger in their eyes, it was as if I was the most delicious dessert in the world, which raises a few questions.

Because even though she didn't eat the flesh of other sinners, she was just as well off as they were?

Why were the others so thin when they ate much more often than she did?

Why do I seem to improve so much more than others when it comes to physical improvement?

Well, I need more information to deduce something, and I know where to get some.

For some reason, she was very cooperative in answering my questions, even about this energy she calls Mana, not the most creative name, but who cares? It's just a name we can change later if it's convenient.

Anyway, I have some theories for my previous questions.

The first is that Anna and I, which I found out is her name, are anomalies, because of her ability to control Mana she has no waste of "nutrients" which I'm totally inclined to believe is Mana, damn it, it makes perfect sense!

That's why every time I ate someone I didn't feel like going to the toilet and they never came back, Mana is probably a soul type of energy and we are not traditional flesh and blood bodies here, but we are literally corporeal souls, like a demon spin-off of bleach, after all after dying the bodies remain on earth, it was my mistake to think that we would have new ones when we got here, and even if we did, I'm sure that when I was still on earth I couldn't recover from a decapitation.

With that I found a new temporary goal, to find that bastard who tortured me for so long and devoured me whole, after all now I have a possible helper who, although a little reluctant, would not reject the opportunity to kill those creatures and become more powerful, I can see in her eyes the barely suppressed anger, and who knows in the future, after a few trials together I may be able to put a little trust in her and call her an ally in this hellish place.

Although I've returned to the physique of a healthy and even slightly muscular human being, I need more strength if I'm to have any meaningful goals from now on, and if what she told me about eating those creatures helps me immensely, after all, if just being bathed in that creature's golden magma gave her the ability to accomplish these things with mana, imagine what I'll achieve when I devour it.

hehe I can't wait, Well, let's convince her to follow me on our exciting adventure, not that she has a choice of course

(unknown space fortress)

(unknown pov)

In a high-tech space fortress, in a room that looks like a control room, a still figure stares out of the window at a planet that was once so beautiful, now nothing more than a corrupted husk.

Soon a robotic voice is heard throughout the room

"Sir, the teleportation portals are back in full operation, do you want them activated for another extermination tour of hell or do I have other orders?"

In a deep voice, the figure with a violent aura, which by its very presence alone seemed to summon boss music, replied

"postpone the activation of the portals for a few years, I need to exterminate the rest of the scum of the earth first."

[A/N: Well, we've got a short crossover coming up]
