Unsealing: The descent

The story takes place 2000 years after the war of Hekai. Most dimensions have regained a sense of peace, largely due to the reorganisation of the different factions of gods. After the catastrophic disaster, it was necessary to establish an organization that could even punish the gods themselves because the law of the universe was too unpredictable. Good and evil were relative concepts, and the universe was omniscient and omnipotent.

In one plane named Mazarik, a legend was told that humans who wished to ascend someday had to go to a forsaken place called Rakasha and take the trial of their plane. This place was well hidden and only the master of this world could find it. It was located in a deep pit where silent monks resided, who had no eyes or mouth. The legend tell that they were created by a god to manage the gate and the trial that linked them to the upper plane.

A group of valiant adventurers, including the most prominent warrior of this era, went to this pit to search for traces of the silent monks, but they found no sign of life. The pit was only accessible by stairs and was filled with illusions, traps, and monsters that tried to kill any intruders. When they reached the bottom of the pit, they found an immense room with a translucent circle in the middle, protected by etheral-shaped barriers like a halo, and altars around it. One of the heroes lost two fingers trying to pass by it.

By deciphering old runes on the wall, which were purposely scratched and partly destroyed with stains of blood as if made in haste, they finally found the answer. It took them a long time to do so without the help of the monks, and they were mentally exhausted from their descent into the hellish hole.

But their ego wouldn't allow them to go back. So they translated the wall containing the inscription piece by piece and found a way to enter. They needed to bleed 12 of themselves until the pit was full of their blood, revealing the gate, as the instructions said. The act itself seemed evil and made some people anxious of what would be the trial that lies beyond this gate moreover the famed silent monk weren't there, even so they proceeded with the ritual.

The gate opened as said in the runes and they could enter what appeared to be the entrance of the trial by going in the blood pool formed by the blood of their companions, but some of them were exhausted by excessive bleeding and considered whether to enter or not. Frustration and hesitation began to take hold of the whole group, but their curiosity ultimately prevailed as they threw themselves into the puddle formed from their own blood.

Some of them thought they were falling for years, others for an instant before touching the cold ground of what seemed to be an old temple.

As they looked around, they could only see thrones with chained mummies that had no eyes or mouth. After regaining full consciousness, they saw a red glowing orb releasing faint vibrations of energy fixed in a monolith that formed a pillar supporting the temple. The door was open, but the darkness outside was impenetrable, so they ran, only to see a deep shadow of dark waters with cadavers stepping out of it, along with squid-like beasts that looked like their worst nightmares. After what seemed like an eternity of fighting, but only a few hours in reality, the assault finally ended.

The temple was now full of cadavers and blood, and some of them died, but there were still 20-30 people inside. Surprisingly, the water around the temple seemed to recede like a tide. A few days went by, and they decided to explore the area to find a clue about the trial or any way to get out of this domain.

Days, months, and a year went by without them finding any clue. Some of them became sick by going too far away from the temple. One of the alchemists amongst them discovered that something in the air small particles or miasma were poisoning them, and the stone in the temple kept it at a reasonable distance from it.

After 2 years of survival in this cursed temple that looked more like a prison from their point of view, they felt something was amiss the tide that should be coming didn't came and the silence in the thunderous cloud stopped, they held their breath seeing as the cloudy sky unveiled something that they couldn't imagine even in their worst nightmare.
