Performing Medications - 9

Simran and Suzy enters the medical ward and greets the senior sisters. After that, they become silent and remain standing while doing nothing.

(Simran's view)

"Sister, is there any work for us?" , I asked her.

"No, there isn't. We will give medications at 8 pm, okay?" she said to me. I just stood there for a whole hour not knowing anything to do.

Finally it became 8, and then the sister called me to observe the medications. "Simran, prepare this medicine" she said and gave me an injection, vial and normal saline. I pulled out NS and put in the vial. I mixed it and then during the time to pull off the medicine I couldnot, it was so hard.

"What happened, did you finish preparing ?" "Yes, I am preparing." I said and started pulling out the medicine as hard as I could. At last I did it and gave to the sister. She taught me how to join the IV drip and to give IV bolus.

She also told me to label the medications and I did accordingly. Then as we kept on giving medications to other patients, my hand shaked vigorously while preparing the medications. I guess it happened since it was my first time and I prepared about 15-20 medications.

After finishing the medications, we went to the nursing station. Sister was writing nursing notes and I was looking at her. Then she taught me how to write the nursing notes and I did it under her supervision. Then we just sat doing nothing, just looking at the patients. I was feeling very tired and sleepy. At around 12, she told me to go to take rest and I went with Suzy.
