Vera's visit
"Doctor Jane." A worker rushed in and Jane, who was busy going through some files, looked up questioningly.
"What is it?" Jane asked.
"Madam Vera and her men just drove into the premises." The worker announced and Jane immediately sprang up.
She took her coat which was hanging behind her chair and pulled it on before rushing out of the office.
"Tell Doctor Samantha to prepare for their arrival. If she doesn't want to be fired by Vera herself." Jane said to the nurse who nodded before going to carry out instructions.
Vera never visited the hospital at all. This would be her first time in years and Jane knew she was here for something very important.
As Jane stepped out of the revolving doors, six lines of cars stopped before the building and guards got off the cars. One of them made way to the car in the middle and pulled the back door open.
A pair of black heels stepped out of the car and everyone there bowed their heads immediately.
Vera removed her sunshades as she looked around as if examining the premises before looking up at Jane who already stood from her bowing position.
"Welcome to DnE Madam Vera." She greeted politely and Vera rejected her greeting by ignoring. "What brings you here today?"
"I heard Skylar got a new doctor. I would like to see both of them." Vera went straight to the point and Jane nodded before leading them in.
"I see you've been doing a great job in managing the hospital well." Vera complimented as they walked through the receptionist towards the elevator.
"Thank you very much madam Vera." Jane thanked as they stepped into the elevator and the elevator doors closed slowly.
The whole place was quiet till the ding of the elevator was heard and the doors pulled open.
They all walked down the hallway towards Skylar's ward but they all stopped when they saw him sitting on a wheelchair in the garden with Samantha sitting before him.
"She is the one." Vera mumbled to herself and the man standing beside her who was her personal assistant, Ivan, heard her clearly but didn't know what she was talking about.
Jane knocked on the glass door and Samantha, who had her focus on Skylar, shifted her focus to the door.
"Looks like we have company." Samantha informed Skylar whose eyebrows were knitted.
"I don't have anyone visiting me so there should no be company unless it is the nurses." Skylar said harshly and Samantha nodded to the people behind the door to come in as she held onto Skylar's wheelchair.
Skylar immediately fell silent when a familiar perfume scent hit him. Samantha could see his change in expression vividly and she wondered why he would suddenly change.
"Sir Skylar, Madam Vera is here." Jane announced and Skylar remained quiet and for a few minutes, the whole place was silent.
Samantha couldn't believe she was standing before Vera Oscar, a very popular businesswoman who was running her brother's company since he died. No one knew what actually caused his accident.
'But wait, how is Vera and Skylar related?' Samantha looked confused till Vera spoke up.
"Look at you Oscar junior. You don't seem pleased to see me." Vera said and Samantha was shocked at the name she just called Skylar.
Skylar didn't say a word. He just kept his blank expression on and Samantha snapped out of her surprised state.
"I'm sorry Madam. Sir Skylar is in the middle of his therapy session and he isn't really going to talk much." Samantha said and Vera looked up at her with raised brows.
Vera raked her with her gaze from head to toe before looking back at Jane. "So she is the doctor able to take care of him unlike those incompetent doctors you offered before."
Jane gritted her teeth before forcing words out. "Yes ma'am."
Vera acted as if she didn't just insult Jane but she didn't even look like she cares at all. Jane was the first doctor to take him up and take care of him but she wasn't better than the others.
"Tell me why you are so picky Skylar?" Vera asked and still, Skylar didn't say a word. "Did you trurn dumb and deaf too? Adding to your blindness…"
"Excuse me Madam Vera. It is almost Sir Skylar's lunch and we would get going. He needs rest after therapy so I'm afraid you won't be able to see him and talk to him for today." Samantha bowed before pushing Skylar's wheelchair out of the garden.
Vera was shocked that someone just spoke to her the way Samantha did. Although it was polite, it still shocked her.
"I'm starting to think she is actually the one." Vera said to Ivan who looked at Samantha who was walking away behind the glass door.
"I'm afraid I am too madam."
