An accident

Sounds of heels echoed down the stairs rhythmically. A woman in her mid sixties walked down the stairs looking arrogant and elegant. Despite being dressed simply, her black gown flowed down to her feet with her black hair styled beautifully.

The maids bowed as she approached them and she acted like they didn't even exist at all. The guard pulled the door leading to the large living room open and the men sitting stood up immediately.

"Greetings to you Madam Vera." They all chorused as she sat elegantly on the throne-like chair made for her.

"Is there any reason why you would make me come down, about to have my beauty sleep?" She asked as she leaned back with her chin resting on her right knuckles.

"Pardon for our stupidity Madam Vera. We have news from the hospital." The first man standing near her informed and Vera's expression changed, making her  sit up in her chair.

He handed her a black file and unreadable expressions ran through her eyes. She slammed the file shut and took the other. Immediately she opened it, the first part she looked at was the top right corner where a photograph was.

"Give me her proper background check. I'll be visiting the hospital tomorrow." Vera said as she lifted herself with her hands. "I need to see who exactly she is."

"Yes Madam Vera." They all bowed as she stood up and stepped out of the living room.

The following day, the sun shone brightly from the horizon as birds flew across the sky. Skylar laid in bed, looking up at the ceiling with a deep frown.

He wasn't chained as usual and it surprised him but he didn't say anything.

Samantha on the other hand was in Jane's office early that morning. Samantha was standing before Jane's table looking stressed.

"I'm very sorry Doctor Samantha but you can't do a profile check for him. He is to be unknown to the doctors. Strictly by his legal guardian." Jane said as she leaned into the backrest of her swivel chair.

"You don't seem to understand here, Doctor Jane. I can't conduct therapy sessions with him with just simple reports that he had chronic Schizophrenia." Samantha tried to explain but Jane would have nothing to do with anything that has to do with her earlier stated fact.

"I know that is how it works, Doctor Samantha. But you have to understand. You should know quite well from the look of things that he is from a very rich and influential background and they wouldn't want to reveal secrets to outsiders." Jane explained again, gesturing with her hands occasionally.

"This is important and anything that has to do with policies should be disposed of…"

"Doctor Samantha. This is not the right time for you to argue with me on what should happen and what shouldn't. Half of DnE is owned by his family if you want to know and exposing things they said should be hidden would bring into us either losing our jobs or worse." Jane slammed her fists on the table as she stood up, moving her chair backwards along.

"I understand." Samantha bowed before stepping out of the office with her clipboard clutched to her chest. She looked at it cautiously before walking back to Skylar's ward.

"Good morning sir Skylar." Samantha said as she stepped in and he shot his head in her direction.

"Why aren't I chained?" He asked and Samantha cleared her throat before speaking up.

"I'm not the kind of doctor that fancies using violent and inhuman ways to treat my patients. You have to let it out and you'll be controlled." Samantha explained and he scoffed.

"Have you ever noticed when I have my episodes how I look or how I feel? Even I realize I act a monster then." He hissed before closing his eyes.

Samantha approached him and stood at the edge of his bed as she examined him from afar. "You suffered from depression and some other emotional damages along with Schizophrenia right?"

"You are the doctor and you should know all about it so why ask me?"

"The hospital won't tell me anything to help conduct your therapy sessions or anything which led to your condition and I have to ask you myself to be sure I'm doing the right thing." Samantha broke it down for him and he went silent for a while, no one knew what he was thinking about.

"It was an accident."
