Stealing Last Strikes

Dash was usually only active for ten seconds before it got deactivated and went into cooldown mode. However, this was enough time for Chen to infiltrate deep into the bushy parts.

"Hey, the beast is getting away!" One of the players yelled out.

This pulled the attention of everyone fighting and they turned to stare in the direction of the bushy area.

-"Go after it!"

-"It's mine!"

-"Don't let it get away!"

The players didn't want it to get away after they had already come close to killing it so they went after it.

Chen who had led it deeper into the bushy parts was standing atop the branch of a tree as he watched the beast looking everywhere for him.

<Player Has Activated Wind Arrows>

A bow made of wind appeared in Chen's grasp and he pulled the string while aiming at the beast below.

zzhiinnn!

Three Arrows made of wind also appeared as he pulled the bowstring. The branches and leaves began swaying from the wind generated.

The beast looked up at the same instant Chen released his grip on the Arrows.

Shwwwhiiii~

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The wind arrows knocked the beast backwards, taking more than two thousand HP with the barrage of hits.

Chen was surprised about how effective using magic attacks were, unlike when he was attacking with daggers and they were only causing 50HP damage with every normal attack.

'No wonder they say magic is overpowered,' Chen said Inwardly as he jumped down.

The beast leapt at him the instant he landed but Chen was quickly able to move to the side and activate another skill.

<Player Has Activated Dagger Dance>

This time it was an assassination skill.

Chen's body created afterimages as multiple of his figures could be seen slashing the creature in different areas.

It was almost like all the attacks were landing at the same time as he performed this dagger dance, swerving and spinning from side to side.

Slash! Slash! Slash! Slash!

The beast would try to stab him with its horns but it kept missing due to the misconception of Chen's movements with these daggers slicing across its body.

Normally the beast would be faster and would have landed hits on Chen by now but after receiving so much damage from the other players, it's might had been greatly reduced.

The beast finally fell to the ground, never to rise again after the attack connected with its head. It began disintegrating into light particles afterwards.

Chen noticed he had expended lots of Mana and didn't have magic potions to help him recover.

'First noob mistake... I should have tried to get a couple of them before coming here,' He nearly facepalmed as this thought appeared in his mind.

<Player Has Successfully Killed A Level 17 Purple Platted Bull>

<+50,000 EXP>

'That's a lot of EXP compared to the boarvoids I killed in Brether Mist Village... I guess this is the difference between killing level 5 beasts and level 17,' Chen thought as he recalled he was only getting around 3000 EXP when he killed the Boarvoids.

He reckoned he only had to kill a few more of beasts on this level to level up even though he knew most of the work was done by the other players.

'The other players...' Chen recalled as he quickly squatted to pick up the loot this beast had dropped.

He was so quick in picking them up that he didn't even wait to check out what some of these items were but he definitely noticed one of the loot was something he needed at the moment.

<Player Has Acquired A Bronze Purple Platted Longsword>

<Player Has Acquired 5 Mana Potions>

<Player Has Acquired 2 Health Potions>

<Player Has Acquired A Bronze Purple Platted Armour>

<Player Has Acquired 1/25 Purple Platted Bull Lord Summoning Horn>

"Hey over here!"

Chen heard a yell from up front, accompanied by several other voices of dissatisfaction.

He immediately jumped to his feet.

<Player Has Activated Dash>

He turned around and ran as fast as his legs could carry him.

"The beast has been killed and the loot is gone!"

"The Player went that way!"

"Hunt him down and kill him!"

The players were incensed the moment they arrive and spotted traces of the dead beast.

However, Chen was long gone and he had the Assassin Class so it made it easier for him to disappear without leaving traces.

----

Minutes later Chen was on another mountain route checking the loot he had acquired atop a tree.

'How are players still competing over level 17 creatures?' Chen wondered internally feeling like what had just happened didn't make sense.

What Chen didn't know was some guilds liked to bully independent players even if they didn't need the loot and even when the creature was too low level for them.

Those players he had just encountered weren't very high-levelled so they could still gain useful EXP from killing the level 17 beast. The Omniscient guild players on the other hand really had no use for it since they were already level 22 and above.

They just wanted to bully the others and show that they were stronger.

[Bronze Purple Platted Armour » +20 Defence]

Chen checked the information on the Armour.

<Does Player Wish To Equip This Item?>

<Yes/No>

"Yes," Immediately after Chen's response a purplish light surrounded his upper body and that was it.

<Bronze Purple Platted Armour Successfully Equipped>

[Bronze Purple Platted Longsword » +12 Attack Power + Stun Effect After Five Successful Combo Attacks]

Chen stared at the design of this longsword which had a purple-scaled blade. It looked quite unique and Chen could see that it had boons as well.

<Does Player Wish To Equip This Item?>

<Yes/No>

'I need a sword to activate some warrior class skills... this is perfect for now,' Chen thought and then proceeded to Equip the Longsword.

<Bronze Purple Platted Longsword Successfully Equipped>

Unlike other classes where one couldn't equip a weapon without unequipping another, Chen didn't have this issue. He could successfully equip three weapons, one for each class.

Chen was thinking of entering into the bushes and hunting beasts all by himself but he still knew he wasn't strong enough. What had just happened earlier was luck because of the bombardment of other players.

Chen's eyes squinted as he thought of something, 'How about I keep using this method?'

He already knew how these players competed for loot around here and would keep bombarding beasts together just to make sure they just the last strike so he was thinking of using the same method he made use of earlier.

'I just have to be careful,' Chen thought as he jumped down the tree.

-Thirty Minutes Later

-"It is getting away!"

-"Chase after the beast!"

-"Don't let it escape!"

A bunch of players chasing after a Man like a buffalo beast could be spotted as they charged through a bush of tall grasses and plants.

Chen who was far up ahead getting chased by the creature would occasionally turn around and shoot attacks backwards.

<Player Has Activated Wind Arrows>

Three Arrows made of wind shot backwards as well, slamming heavily into the creature and triggering its agro even more.

-850HP

The beast only had around 3000HP left at this point and Chen knew very well that any of the players chasing from behind could kill it before he did, which was why he was trying to move as quickly as he could while still attacking the creature to make sure it didn't stop chasing after him.

After cleaving off more of the creature's HP while still leading it further into the bushy area, Chen finally decided to face it.

He unsheathed the Purple Platted Longsword and charged forward.

At this point, he had the bearing of a warrior as his unyielding figure raised the sword high and activated a skill.

<Crescent Division Has Been Activated>

Slash!

Chen swung the sword down mightily as a white crescent-shaped light phased out due to the slash and collided with the beast.
