Grinding Troubles

--------------

Minutes later Chen had arrived on a mountainous path that led up a mountain region known as the triplets mountain.

As its name depicted, what could be spotted was three massive mountains joined side by side.

Chen was on the path that led to the third mountain.

All three mountains had paths that led past the mountain but each path led to a different area. Both NPCs and players would pass specific paths based on where they were headed.

However, these paths were said to be attacked by wild beasts lots of the time since tall trees and bushes were growing out of the sides of the mountains.

These beasts were said to have been occupying the mountains long before these paths were built to make transportation easier.

This was also a region where lots of players had found treasures so the triplets mountains were not just travelling routes but also a grinding location.

Chen specifically picked the third mountain path which was by the right on a whim.

He had no idea if this was a better route for grinding or not and he didn't have a companion he could get information about this from.

Pete's knowledge about Overworld was not so widespread that he would have Knowledge of everything.

Chen began climbing up the path along with multiple others.

It was unknown whether they were NPCs or players but Chen had his guard up since he knew being in zones like this could be dangerous. Not just because of the beasts but also because players would try to rob other players in unsafe zones.

While it was possible to know a player's name and level by focusing your sight on a person, a lot of players were using an item known as the Cryptic embodiment.

This prevented players below their level and within five levels above them from seeing their names as well as their level.

This would make them difficult to differentiate and those with malicious intent could sneak up on other players under the guise of being an NPC.

Chen was still too weak to truly defend himself so he decided if the need ever arises, he would run.

Carriages being pulled by beasts and horses also passed by from time to time since this was also a journeying route to nearby towns.

Chen had already unsheathed his daggers ready to attack at any given time. He didn't head into the tall bushes by the sides because one could bump into a group of beasts within their territory.

Only strong players would do such so Chen wasn't willing to risk it. He preferred they came out to meet him instead.

"Ghhrrriiihhhh!"~

Chen didn't have to wait long as a beast suddenly came charging out from the left side of the Bush after a few minutes of walk.

<Player Has Activated Dash>

Chen took one step to the right and instantly appeared ten paces away from his initial position.

The beast that had just charged out missed him and found itself surrounded by a group of players in an instant.

It was a bull-like beast that was up to twelve feet in size and had four curvy long horns. It had purplish scales all over its back and sides which acted as armour.

'Uh?' Chen realised he had been walking with players all this time as these people began to attack the beast.

"It's a level 17 Purple platted bull," Chen noticed as he also charged forward to attack.

One thing everyone knew about ambushing a beast in the game was, that the person who landed the last hit would get all the EXP.

Chen hardly felt dragging with these other players for the last strike was worth it, especially for the fact that things would get messy when it was time to pick up the loot.

However, this was his first experience with other players so he wanted to use this as a form of experiment.

"Grrrhhhoooorruuhhh!"~

The creature made a loud sound as attacks came from every angle. More than six players were attacking the creature at the same time besides Chen.

Chen took a step forward, arriving by the left side of the creature before swinging one of his daggers sideways.

-50HP

-50HP

Even after Slashing twice with all his strength, Chen noticed he was barely causing any damage for a creature with up to 50,000HP.

The other players around were causing no less than 200HP damage with every attack which proved just how much stronger they were compared to Chen and how better their weapons were.

One of the players who was also attacking from the side scoffed when he noticed how much damage Chen was causing.

"Noob pfft," He muttered.

Chen was about to activate an ability when he felt a tingling pulse of danger.

<Player Has Activated Dash>

He quickly stepped to the side and appeared more than ten steps from his initial position.

He was lucky to dodge three large blueish fireballs that suddenly shot towards the creature from behind him.

Booom! Boom! Boom!

They exploded at the top of the creature's head and large subtractions of HP appeared from it.

-5000HP

-5000HP

-5000HP

'That's a whole fifteen thousand HP in three attacks,' Chen's jaw nearly dropped as he noticed this. He turned to stare at where the attack came from and spotted three players dressed in white robes.

There was an emblem shaped like a cross with an eye in the middle on their robes.

One of them had a gigantic sword, another one had a long staff and the third one had a whip.

Unfortunately, some of the players around were affected by the large-scale blueish fireballs attack which ended up brewing a fight.

-"Bastards are you trying to get me killed!"

-"This is my loot you best stay away from it!"

-"If I didn't cast light barrier in time I would have been skewered,"

The players around complained with red shot eyes as they stared at the other party

-"The Omniscient Guild is taking hold of this creature it now belongs to us!"

One of the three voiced out with a solemn tone as they moved forward.

Chen watched from the side as the independent players banded together to stop the guild members from taking their loot while giving little attention to the creature itself.

The creature was still alive but had only around 10,000HP left at this point. Chen who had distanced himself from the scene where the battle had broken out suddenly got an idea.

There was something about battling beasts that made them focus on attacking a particular player more than the others.

Chen understood this theory worked based on who dealt the highest amount of damage in one go.

The blueish flames attack didn't bring this effect because it was done from a long range so at the moment the beast was still focusing on a player who wasn't dealing more than 300HP damage with every attack.

They weren't focusing on the beast as much as before due to the ongoing battle but occasionally attacks were still reducing its HP so Chen knew he had to act fast.

Chen quickly dashed into the bush and activated Silent Steps.

<Player Has Activated Silent Steps>

He began to move towards the area where the beast was facing within the bush. He continued to use the bush as cover as he observed for a few seconds.

The instant the beast closed in on the bush area again after getting pushed over by an attack, Chen unsheathed his daggers.

<Player Has Activated Crucial Strike>

He stabbed his dagger out at full force, aiming for the left eye of the creature.

Slash!

-600HP

"Ghrrrhhhhh!"

The beast growled loudly in pain as it spotted Chen within the bushes.

<Wounding Effect Has Been Triggered >

<Purple Platted Bull Will Lose 10HP Every Second>

Blood leaked out of the beast's left eye as its right eye turned bloodshot and it began chasing after Chen.

Notifications popped up as he turned around at this point to run away.

<Player Has Activated Dash>

With every stretch of his legs, Chen appeared more than ten paces away allowing him to lead the beast deeper into the bushy area.
