Chapter 23, Our Daddy Only Likes Men

The fact that Li Jain family was well off and bought a store in Qingyuan town spare far and wild with everyone talking about it. The neighboring villages also heard about it and the matchmaker's eyes shone with delight, thinking it's time to make money.

After having breakfast, Li Jain took the village workers to Qingyuan town for them to start working on the shop. He didn't take anyone with him because he knew it'll be a busy day. 

The children also continue their daily training. Suddenly, there was noise at the gate. "The Full moon has blessed the Li household. Today, I am here to bring you some good news."

"Who is there?" Li Zhang asked

Li Cheng shook his head: "No idea, let's go take a look." 

When they came to the front yard, they saw a middle woman standing at the gate. Jing Xuan opened the gate and let her in.

"How can we help you?" Li Cheng ask with a frown

They know that sound. This is what matchmakers say every time they arrange marriage. 

The matchmaker was disappointed when she saw only the children were home. But thinking about her purpose, she still bit the bullet and said: "Lucky has shone over your household. Lady Lu, A fair skin and pretty lady from the Lu family has taken interest into your father and wants to marry in your family." 

Li Cheng frowned and wanted to say something, when Li Zhang cut in, giving his brother a reassuring look. 'Leave it to me.' he whisper

"That won't worked." Li Zhang's words were directed and puzzled the matchmaker.

"Why not?"

Instead of answering, Li Zhang asked instead. "Why would a pretty lady want to marry a man with seven children?"

The matchmaker smiled, she seemed to have expected this question: "That's called true love. When you truly love a person, you won't mind their family situation."

Li Zhang shows a disgusted expression as he listens to the lady preaching. "It's still impossible for my father to get married."

"Why did you say that?" The matchmaker didn't expect Li Zhang to be so difficult to deal with and was dissatisfied!

"Why?...." Li Zhang has also run out of ideas to refuse. But he absolutely can't let an unknown woman suddenly enter their lives. After thinking for a bit, he came up with a good idea and his eyes lit up: "Because, our daddy only likes men and won't marry a woman!"

The matchmaker was shocked and couldn't react for a while. Her eyes widened as her mouth gaped in disbelief. She didn't expect that the children were so... open minded.   Then again, maybe they're just naive.

Jing Sheng had just come out of the house when he heard this, he stumbled on his own feet and almost fell. After looking back and forth among the people, he shakenly walked back into the house and pretended he didn't hear nor see anything.

The others were also frozen. Li Cheng couldn't believe this was the only idea his dumb brother could come up with.

The matchmaker quickly reacted and composed her emotions: "If your father doesn't like women, how come he has seven children?"

Jing Xuan shrunk his shoulders: "Easy, A man is meant to fly but it's tied down with many responsibilities. Therefore, after accomplishing the family requirement, he can now live his own life."

"You mean?...."

Li Zhang added: "Exactly. Now that our daddy has us, he doesn't have to pretend to like women anymore and can live happily alone until he finds the right one. After all, isn't that what you matchmakers are for? To help couples find their true love? So why does it matter whether it's a man or a woman?"

"Excuse me." The matchmaker has received too many blows and can only leave with her head down.

"Pew, luckily the problem is solved." Li Zhang breathed a sigh of relief.

"Yeah, brother Zhang. I admire your quick thinking. See how speechless she was when leaving." Jing Xuan said with excitement.

"Hahaha, you can count on me in the future."

 "Haha," Li Cheng makes a fake laugh mockingly: "laugh while you can. If daddy heard what you told the matchmaker about him, I hope you'll still be able to laugh." He pouts his lips at Li Zhang with a look of pure disdain. 

Li Zhang was taken aback: "Ahhh, brother, you have to help me. We definitely can't allow daddy to find out, else I'll be finished!" Li Zhang whines as he clutches onto Li Cheng's arm.

"You should have thought of that when you were splitting nonsense."

 Li Cheng scolds.

"Isn't it because I was helping not to allow an unknown woman to enter our home?" Li Zhang insists, pulling on the sleeve and shaking his head frantically.

"If daddy likes men, is it a bad thing?" Li Juanxin came forward and asked

Looking at Li Juanxin's innocent eyes, Li Zhang felt like he had committed the greatest sin ever!

How could this be?

Li Cheng also tries to make his presence as invisible as possible.

Li Juanxin was confused when he didn't get an answer, he pouts; "Ok, I'll ask daddy when he comes back."

Li Zhang immediately fell to his knees and grabbed Li Juanxin's legs. "Xin Xin, you can't do this to your fourth brother."

"Isn't the fourth brother chasing a bad woman away from daddy? How can he blame you?"

"Either way, you can't tell!" Li Zhang insisted

"Ok, I won't ask." Li Juanxin nodded, "But it shouldn't be a bad thing right?" Li Juanxin whispers and Li Zhang almost coughs out a mouthful of blood.

'XinXin, XinXin, how can you be curious about this kind of thing?' he thought desperately.

"Sheng Sheng."

Jing Sheng immediately stood up as if he was sitting on needles. "Don't call me. I didn't hear nor see anything!" He said and quickly ran to the back yard.

"Brother Zhang, don't worry. How can someone who didn't see or hear anything talk about it?"

"You're right."

When Li Jain came back from Qingyuan town, he felt that the yard has a strange atmosphere, but he could tell what was wrong. He felt like the buns were avoiding him.

During dinner, Li Cheng only asked whether everything went well with him and no one else spoke.

At night, Li Juanxin who always slept in his bed was not there. This confirmed Li Jain suspicion that something did happen during the day. He couldn't help raising his eyebrows.

Meanwhile, in the room next door. Li Juanxin was struggling to break free from his brother's grasp. "What do you mean I can't go to sleep with daddy?"

"Xin Xin, you don't know, but when you were sleeping with daddy, your brothers have missed you and hope you'll sleep with us if it's only for a night." 

"What do you mean? I remember the last time you told me, with one less person sleeping on the bed, it would be comfortable for everyone."

Jing Xuan schark his head in embarrassment 

"Xin Xin, brother is afraid that you won't be able to hold it in and tell daddy what happened today."

"I wouldn't tell him!" Then he added with a small voice; "Unless he ask..."

"See, that's the reason why you should sleep with us."

"Fine... just for tonight." Li Juanxin gave up struggling and lay down.

The little buns didn't have a good sleep that night. Li Cheng and Jing Sheng try meditating but fail terribly and can only lay to sleep with worry minds.

The next day, the breakfast table was even more quiet. Li Jain was starting to worry about the little buns.

"Father, are you going to town today?" Jing Sheng asked.

"No, but I'll be going up the mountain in a while."

When Li Jain said this, he felt that the buns breathed a sigh of relief, which made him wonder whether his ears were hallucinating. Weren't those kids always excited to go up the mountain with him?

Just what happened yesterday?

After Li Jain left, the atmosphere at home relaxed a bit. Everyone was doing their own things. Jing Xuan and Li Zhang were playing while Li Cheng was practicing his shooting. Li Juanxin sat under the tree shade, learning to draw. Jing Sheng was seated not far from him, drinking some cold water after his training.

Suddenly, A familiar voice from yesterday sounded at the entrance of the yard.

"What do you want this time?" Li Zhang asked with a bad feeling.

"The blessing of the full moon is on your household. The son of lord Bai from the neighboring village is interested in seeking marriage with your father."

"Cough, cough, cough." Jing Sheng cough continuously.

"Are you okay, brother?" Li Juanxin got up and patted his back while Jing Sheng only shook his head.

The rest of the children look at the matchmaker with frustrated yet helpless expression. As if saying, *Just kill us!*
