Information gathering

The carriage left and the crowd is left to their own device.

Dan hid in a corner and begun scribbling in his notebook.

Small notebook:

2 kingdoms or faction are at war ( unknown affiliations)

No map

Unknown customs

understandable language (all countries use the same language?)

Psychopathic/unreliable system

On the bright side learning magic may be interesting

So basically I know nothing...

ASSUMPTIONS:

Technological level is at Romans or medieval era

Magic exists!!!! maybe infinite energy? probably god exists too( can be inferred from the unknown text )(or may be totally unrelated)

low tech=low education level

People in power could do almost everything

The people suffering due to the war are dissatisfied

With a low education level, the easiest way to control others is by religion. ( i don't know any in this world) (Even in modern society there are those who are brainwashed)

(end of note)

How troublesome... Dan thought, the sanitation of this era is probably bad and any disease could potentially kill him. While magic could be used as a solution, it is unknown to him how effective they could be and how the reliance on such fantasy like force(only to the people of earth) could slow down the development of science and technology.

If magic could cure wounds and diseases why waste time and effort when a spell could solve the problem. Without knowing the final benefits of researching science and technology, and with the existence of a viable substitute. Researching science and technology will seem pointless and worthless in the eyes of the inhabitants of this world.

The opposite could also be true, what if science and technology are absolutely useless in this world? After all, magic could potentially replicate the processes of science...

During such a period of the war, the people suffering the most are usually the commoners while the wealthy and the powerful leech of the labours of the commoners. Being one in power should be the safest route to Dan as he will at least have sufficient power to scheme rather than die powerless to change his own fate.

After some thoughts on this world, Dan got up with the rest of the civilians and continued their journey. The crowd hurdled along and slowly walk disorderly towards their final destination.

A few hours (not-so) quickly passed again. This time, a group of weirdly dressed soldiers will be escorting us. *pfft* They look like a full party from those RPG games. This really seems like a stereotypical fantasy 'hero party'. We have the petit loli girl holding a wand taller than herself, a skinny rogue wearing chain mail with daggers, a large size overconfident warrior and lastly an archer wearing leather armour with a mask.

While we continued our journey to an unknown town ( at least to Dan), there were creatures who tried to attack us. However, the 'hero party' always managed to fight them off. These creatures are a really large wolf, a bear with 4 arms and a tree (a f*cking tree). This world is really weird... Dan's thought wanders off again.

Tempted by his curiosity Dan finally sneaks up to nearby group discussions. Some of the civilians were excited that they were heading to the largest trading city in the country. The city was called Entropy the most successful city in their country. While there were many stories of commoners who strike rich there, there were also stories of people who went missing.

From their gossips, he could also tell their lack of understanding of politics and long-term benefits. There was also a lack of food in the camp and there was still a day before they reach their destination.

As time flies by the surrounding slightly cheerful atmosphere is now gone replaced by a depressing and gloomy atmosphere. In such an environment Dan was wondering if he could replicate the magic cast by the young priest.

He thought to himself, is the magic cast reliant on the chant, imagination, willpower or a backer ( such as a god )? If I could cast such spells it would be easier to find a job and fit into the country. The worries concerning me are if there are magic capable of reading minds or brainwashing. This is indeed troubling, he slightly frowned.

With him consumed in his thoughts, the journey continued non-stop through the night as they were anxious for the protection of a city. Hours passed again and the sun started rising. Finally, after the long journey of a day and a half their efforts paid off, the group saw the tall sturdy gates of Entropy.

Here's chapter 2 ;) . While i am bad at drawing i will try to get the cover page out asap. The geographical locations as well as the power levels and names of countries and religions will be revealed in future chapters. I will be aiming for consistency throughout this novel. Happy reading ;)
