Almost death

I stumbled on the branches on the land. I was helping myself to get up. I grabbed the twigs that were trying me up, which hindered me from getting up immediately.

"Huff huff huff." I quickly turned my head around. Behind me, there was an enormous spider that was ten feet tall. Its silent growling was heard despite us being in a big dark area. Damn! It's getting nearer as seconds pass by. I need to get out of here as soon as possible! I ran fast; the possibilities of this are I might be the dinner of this monster tonight. I was in the middle of an unfamiliar place. The darkness was hugging all the things around. The only visible is the considerable tress that was surrounded all over the place. Run. Run. Run! My mind was silently commanding me to run for my life. I never knew there was a spider as giant as this! Its piercing eyes were directly looking at me. Its big legs were sauntering, which made the land shake uncontrollably. Its frightening colors were slowly glistening as it got closer. Step by step, I desperately took every possible alternative to get away from it.

I was running endlessly till I was out of breath. I was gushing through a lot of directions to confuse the monster somehow. Running and running, I stopped for I felt the silence. The sudden silence was my chance tool stop. I guess it was not behind me anymore. Slowly turning around, I scanned the place thoroughly. Left to right, we're no traces of any monsters.

"Sigh." I released a big one. I was feeling my chest getting out of breath due to excessive running. "I hope it was lost. I can't afford to meet it again." I silently mumbled about my small accomplishment of getting it lost.

"Shesh. Finally! I can now rest!" I immediately sat on the land where I was standing. The big tree supported my weight on where I was leaning. My deep breaths and my sweaty body were all I could feel right now. I have been running for minutes, making my head throb endlessly.

"1,2,3" to somehow distract my mind, I started counting sheep. Fortunately, this will help ease my mind. I am not sure where I am right now. I am obviously the one who is here at this time of the day, for there were no noticeable traces. The thought that I was all alone here then where is Ms. Alena and others? I don't even remember getting to any place. I don't even know. Thus this is the first time I have seen this place. Although dark, I was able to witness some of its natural features. And as I was busy helping myself to rest, a voice in the back of my head was repeatedly echoing. Whispering gibberish words that are creepily getting inside my head.

"Rovina, help. Please help me. HELP!" A faint woman's voice keeps bothering me. Its visible suffering was heard as if she was tortured harshly. She was asking for my help desperately. But how can I? I do not even have the slightest recognition of the voice, and I don't know where the voice is coming from. My mind was arguing to find them

Then her sudden shout made my ears bleed. The intense uncomfortable, tingling sounds didn't leave my mind even until now.

"STOP! PLEASE STOP, ARGHHH!" the night's cold wind came hard off. Synching with my shout, the leaves were falling hard as if an El Nino event would blow every inch of the roofs with the tiny houses surrounded nearby. I was banging my head from the ache. I am turning it everywhere in desperate to lessen the pain. My left consciousness in me was slowly leaving my body. I held my head up, leaning towards the tree. There I saw the giant monster which was running after me earlier. I didn't have the energy left to shout, but my body still reacted. The beading sweats were doubled as the spider was taking its time to swallow me wholly. This is my end, and indeed there will be no one to escape this fate. Not waiting for the spider to get any closer, the darkness filled my senses.

"Rovina!" A loud familiar voice helped me to wake up. Instantly, I was brought to my senses. Lifting my head from the wooden chair, I slowly opened my eyes. My body was feeling numb. All of my joints were too soft to move around. It was indeed another dream.

Standing in front of me was Ms. Risa, who curiously looked directly into my eyes. "What are you spacing about?" Her forehead was slowly knotting as she waited for my answer.

"I-I had a bad dream Miss. I w-was in a place where trees only surrounded it. An enormous spider chased me down! I was halfway to be eaten if it weren't for you, Miss Risa!" after narrating my part. I instantly hugged Ms. Risa for waking me up. It was definitely not a good dream to start, and my life was on the line. I can't say that I won't worry because it was all just dreams and not a reality. But what I felt inside there was all true, and it is impossible to say it was only a dream. I genuinely believe that if I wasn't whole up, there is a possibility that I can't wake up anymore.

The heavy loads of emotion were piling up on me, leading my tears to flow continuously. I was sobbing loudly, easing my nervousness earlier. In my whole life, I've never gotten to experience being in that kind of scenario; it was all new to me! My loud crying led Ms. Risa to comfort me. Her hands were on my back, moving in a comforting way.

"Shhh, you're here now. You don't have to worry, Rovina. You are now safe and sound. Look everywhere. This is your workplace. There are no monsters to chase you again." Her tapping on my back never stopped. I look at her and remember my mother doing the same thing to me when something unfortunate happens.

"Thank you, Miss Risa," I said as I looked into her eyes. I made sure it reflected how grateful I am that she is here right now, comforting me.

"You don't have to worry. Since Alena is my great friend too, and you are her older daughter, that makes you a dear friend to me too."

"Yes, miss. I sincerely apologize for my rude behavior today. Not only did I sleep in your cafe, but I bothered you with my loud cries." I excused myself for the reason that I was incompetent. I admit that I slept because of tiredness. And that is not what I am supposed to do when I am in the workplace. With my remarks, she excused and busied herself with something.

I, on the other hand, walked through the glass window nearby. It was already dark; the clouds up above were formed a lot of familiar shapes. Thus with its dark color, it did compliment the moonlight that were shining beautifully. The lights around the cafe were all lighted. It surrounds the plain furnishings with its glistening brightness.

"Wow." my mouth was slightly parted as I saw how beautiful this cafe was at night. I thought it was already wonderful where there were only relying on the sunlight's rays. But this one hits different it was more like I am in heaven! I closed my eyes, feeling the security of the place. At least the heaviness I felt earlier was lessened. My heart broke down that, which caused my sudden outburst. The wind blew my hair, almost covering my small face.

"Here I brew some leaves. This will make you calm your nerves." Ms. Risa's voice interrupted my thinking. I opened my eyes and saw her standing behind me through the glass reflection. I immediately turned around to accept her tray with the cup of tea she mentioned earlier.

"Thank you for this, Ms. Risa. However, you didn't have to do this, for I am not your responsibility. I sincerely thank you from my heart. I was embarrassed up until now that you had to witness the scene earlier."

"What are you talking about? We are the only ones who are inside here. Of course, it is my job to look at my people since you are my friend's daughter. It was partly my fault, though. I gave you lots of workloads, which seems too tired of you considering you're still new." she turned to me and watched me as I sipped through her prepared tea.

I shake my head disagreeable. "No, miss, please don't blame yourself for giving me work. My physical body is quite worn, but I have a solid mind to believe in. I will surely go to surpass anything."

"Pfft. As you say so. Finish your tea now and go home. Alena must be waiting for you now." ending our conversation with a stifled chuckle, she released.
