Prologue

As I settled into the back of the bus, little did I know that my life was about to take an unforeseen turn. My name? Nitta Kazuhiko, just your run-of-the-mill teenage boy with a talent for blending into the background. Attention was something I actively shunned; standing out meant opening the floodgates to unwanted interactions.

It wasn't that I lacked the ability to converse with others; if approached, I wouldn't outright dismiss them. I was always willing to lend a hand if someone needed it. Yet, I cherished my solitude. Frankly speaking, most conversations felt forced and awkward to me, so I tended to avoid them whenever possible. In essence, I was the epitome of the quiet kid lingering at the back of the class.

So, why am I divulging all this? Because, at this very moment, I was grappling with a crisis of identity so profound that everything I just described might as well have been tossed out the window.

Sha Naqba Imuru.

It was a name laden with significance, a Noble Phantasm embodying the indomitable will of the King of Uruk. Through its power, his essence was distilled into a formidable ability: a perpetual state of heightened Clairvoyance, granting him insight into profound truths with but a glance.

And now, through the eyes that had become mine, I beheld the profound truth of my reincarnation. Nitta Kazuhiko was no mere Japanese student; he was the vessel of Gilgamesh's soul, reborn in a new era. Though I hadn't inherited his memories, the essence of the King of Heroes coursed through my being— for better or for worse.

The weight of this revelation settled upon me with surprising ease. Despite the fusion of Nitta Kazuhiko's persona with that of Gilgamesh, I remained intact, my mind unscathed by the monumental shift in identity.

Gathering my thoughts, I endeavored to regain my composure, focusing on the present situation and formulating a plan for my future. The bus I rode was en route to Advanced Nurturing High School, a prestigious institution established by the Japanese government to cultivate the next generation of leaders and contributors to society.

With a flawless track record boasting a 100% employment and college acceptance rate, and employing rigorous, state-sanctioned pedagogical methods, it spared no expense in shaping the nation's envisioned future.

Having earned my place in this esteemed school through years of tireless dedication, my original intention had been to excel academically and proceed with life as planned. But now, in light of my newfound identity, doubts crept in.

Was this institution truly deserving of my unwavering dedication? Did it warrant my undivided attention? The answer, it seemed, was a resounding no. Though devoid of memories from my past life, I couldn't shake the innate sense that this establishment paled in comparison to the person I had become.

If I so desired, I could reclaim dominion over this earth with but a single jewel from the lowest echelons of my treasury. Yet, I dismissed such thoughts as swiftly as they arose.

After all, Nitta Kazuhiko had come this far by his own merit. It would be a disservice to his efforts if they culminated in such an anticlimactic manner. No, if this institution truly boasted the pinnacle of educational prowess in the country, then perhaps there was something to be gleaned from it, if not amusement.

"However, should it fail to meet my expectations..." I murmured aloud, a smirk curling at the corners of my lips, garnering a few curious glances from my fellow passengers.

Crossing my arms, I reclined in my seat, idly gazing out the window as the passing scenery blurred into streaks of color. Various thoughts drifted through my mind like leaves on a gentle breeze, accompanied by the soothing sight of the clear blue sky stretching endlessly above.

As the bus filled with more passengers, disrupting the tranquility of my thoughts, the sudden onset of an altercation shattered the peace.

"Excuse me, shouldn't you offer up your seat?" came a sharp voice, breaking through the hum of the bus.

The source of the disturbance appeared to be a well-built young man, his blonde hair making him stand out amidst the crowd, engaged in a confrontation with an elderly woman and a younger office worker.

"Hey, you there. Can't you see that this elderly lady is in need?" the office worker demanded, her voice tinged with frustration.

Ah, so that was the cause of the disturbance. The young man was occupying a priority seat, prompting his elders to request assistance for the elderly woman.

Recognizing the situation for what it was, my interest waned, and I reached for my earphones, slipping them in to drown out the ensuing argument with music.

========================================

I really am unable to focus on a single fanfic at a time. Since I'm the master of bad decision making, I figured I'd post this little thing I've been working on for a bit.

I've been experimenting on my writing for a while, trying to figure out what I liked and how to improve. Originally, this was supposed to be a one shot, and it might just stay as one. If I do decide to update this, then don't expect an upload schedule. Updates will be inconsistent af, so yeah, avoid getting your hopes up.

Anyways, to talk about the actual fanfic for a bit. Although this is technically a Fate crossover story, since this is a fanfic, I'll be taking creative liberty so as to how I'll be implementing fate elements. In other words, this fic isn't entirely faithful to the lore of fate.

I don't intend to nerf Gilgamesh, but expect the unexpected. Gates of Babylon might just become a big No Limit Fallacy where I can simply say "Ah, yes. My anti-Ayanokoji noble phantasm, I haven't used this one since the age of gods.", or it might not.

Depends on what I feel like writing.
