Moving in (III)

"So, what now?" David asked confused at the lack of activity from the orbs

[Please hold on while I program your designs into the bots] Nous replied

"Okay then"

With that David simply leaned against the side of his car as he waited for Nous to get done with her programming.

For one, he knew that whatever was going on here was beyond his current understanding. It was a known fact that the level of technology in which Nous could access was otherworldly.

However even for him though, he found certain things weird in this situation. Why was Nous taking so much time to program the bots, this should be something it could do in seconds, so he didn't understand why it was taking so much time.

Since he couldn't answer these questions for now, he simply began scrolling through social media to see how his game was doing.

Of course, he has the basic status page which Nous had prepared for him to allow him keep up with any necessary milestone the game has achieved but he wanted to know people's actual thoughts.

The reviews on the game were in their thousands and all of them were good except for certain trolls. Now he wanted to see people play the game. Without hesitation, he immediately typed in the name of the game into the search bar.

Almost immediately, a long list of videos appeared. Some of them seemed to be about the Nous company itself, some talked about the anticipation for the game and their plans for when it was released.

After a few seconds of scrolling, he finally found the most current ones. The video began with the Content creator talking about the game then he showed its game play.

Just like him in the beginning, the man was given the default character aka Bones, and he began the first mission. Watching the guy play, David could immediately tell that he was playing the game as though he was playing GTA.

He moved randomly, did anything he wanted because he was still thinking that the NPCs were actually NPCs.

"Renovatio is not GTA, play as though you are actually Bones to have a chance to get out of there alive" David commented knowing exactly where the guy was heading.

If he manages to escape the police in this scene, he would be shot dead by his teammates later on. This will happen for many reasons including shooting through your teammate.

The game physics will allow it during the mission but in the cutscenes, it will be interpreted as him shooting his teammate which was clearly stated in the mission but will be ignored.

After the first mission though the style of play changes and doesn't allow many things such as friendly fire anymore.

[I'm done] Nous said after a while as David finally looked away from the series of videos

"Finally," David said as he turned back to the orbs

Just in time, David could see the orbs transform as small leg-like apparatuses popped out of them and began to move

The orb now truly looked like bots, tiny dome-shaped bots or drones. Within seconds, all of them were standing as some weird blue light came out of all of them and began moving around the area.

It was as though they were scanning the layout of the area before they began their mission. A minute after, all of them began moving.

They ran or crawled towards the main house at incredible speeds. Some of them entered the inside of the house while they others crawled along its sides.

[All builder bots in positions, should they begin demolition sir?]

"Um... Sure" David replied

He knew this was advanced technology but no matter how he looked at it, he didn't see how the small bots would demolish and rebuild the house quickly.

While thinking this, David saw the drones detach themselves from the building and began to float making him question everything.

There was no noise, loud sound or even proof of any flying apparatus in the drones but here they were floating several inches and even meters off the floor

As they did so, their tiny leg-like things came together to form a longer, thinner rod that looked similar to that which is used when wielding.

"So, they can transform as needed then, right?" David asked when he seemingly understood a little bit of the bots

[Yes, they do]

Hearing her reply, David simply nodded as he continued watching. It was advanced technology in play here, he needed to see this to the end or at least some of it.

The drone generated a laser from their new 'hand' which they focused on the building. David couldn't see how the lasers would work to demolition a building but for what he saw, it proved that he didn't know as much as he thought he did.

Each place the lasers passed; debris fell in the form of dust. It was in small quantities but considering how many of the bots that were working together to achieve this aim... David could see why they were called builder bots.

"Okay then, let's go home" David said as he got into his car and began driving away.

Normally he would try to ask Nous to explain how the bots worked but he had a feeling he wouldn't be able to understand. One day he will but for now, it was best he left.

David planned to learn as much as he could from Nous, and he believes that then he would naturally know more about the bots and even the box machine that produced them

Even after they left, the bots continued their work relentlessly. Within a few hours, half of the house had been turned to dust, the bots were efficient and had absolutely no plans for stopping.

As David drove him, he thought about all the improvements so far. The most noticeable being his size, David wouldn't call himself fat nor was he considered amongst the fat, but he was on the plus side.

In the last three weeks that had changed, Nous's training routine worked wonders. It was painful and he still couldn't finish the full thing in one go but he still went from a chubby guy to what he was now.
