13. The Dinner

"You seem to like that place a lot? It's a nice place, isn't it? If Adrian doesn't want to take you there we can go together."

Nadine immediately turned her head when she heard Ellen's words. Seemed a little panicked but she was soon able to control her emotions.

"Of course.... We can go there together, the three of us."

She tried to give Ellen the brightest smile without paying attention to Adrian's sharp gaze.

Throughout the rest of their activities that night Nadine kept thinking about who Ellen was and what their relationship was in the past.

"I can't fail to bring Olivia and Adrian together. I have to keep Adrian away from all the women who had scandals with him in the past."

Nadine was determined again as she continued to look at the intimacy of Ellen and Adrian.

After finishing the dinner photo session, it seemed that Nadine couldn't wait to ask Adrian about Ellen.

Nadine was a little surprised but then she smiled.

"You totally understand my old habit Adrian. But this time I won't. If I keep suspecting you all the time, it will only torture me. And it's not good for my sanity."

Adrian was silent and looked at Nadine's face which turned a little gloomy.

"You will also not be mine even if I restrain you. But I ask you to be careful when you meet the women who are close to you."

Nadine spoke by looking deeply into Adrian's face.

"Nadine, I don't know what you're talking about. But I'm not a man who has many close female friends. Especially to the point of causing a scandal with them."

Nadine smirked as if belittling Adrian's statement.

"You can say that now but sooner or later there will be a lot of girls who become your close friends Adrian."

Adrian was about to refute Nadine's words but Nadine quickly cut him off.

"I really don't want to restrict you from seeing anyone. But I just want to make sure they don't cause a scandal for you."

Adrian did look annoyed but he was also reluctant to answer Nadine.

"Like Ellen said, the three of us can meet together if you have an appointment with her. Okay Adrian?"

Adrian looks annoyed and quickly leaves the living room leaving Nadine who doesn't get any answer from Adrian.

"Haaaah..... I just want to get you back to your lover Adrian."

Nadine rested her head on the chair and mumbled again.

"You are a good man... But when Olivia married someone else you became a different person Adrian."

Nadine looked at the ceiling of the villa. And again she sighed as if trying to get rid some of the burden on her body.

"I'll make sure you're clean from that filthy scandal and keep Olivia stay away from that guy."

Nadine then got up from her chair and headed to the study room to get back finishing her work.

Just like in the past they didn't spend much time together. Adrian would go to the hospital every morning after breakfast and would come back in the evening.

Nadine is also rarely out of her study room, even in these three days she has missed breakfast and dinner.

The difference between their situation from the past was this time it was Nadine who kept locking herself in her room while Adrian alone had breakfast and dinner in that big villa.

"Are you enjoying your honeymoon Adrian?"

His aunt's question made Adrian break his daydream.

"What did you expect from auntie? You know that I don't like her?"

Marie chuckled and softly said to Adrian.

"At least you can respect her as your partner. Adrian, who I know is a warm and kind man."

Adrian sighed and tried to smile at his aunt.

"Auntie... I told you that we were only a temporary couple."

Marie looked a little gloomy hearing Adrian's words.

"But she has also helped us, Adrian."

"Ah and then... She gave her car to you right?"

Benjamin, who had just entered, replied to Marie's words while giving Adrian the car keys. Then walked over to her mother, handed her the box of cake that he had bought for her and placed the other one on the table.

Adrian wanted to immediately clear up his aunt's misunderstanding but Benjamin immediately cut him off.

Marie immediately glared at Benjamin, making him stop laughing for a moment.

"She lent it to me so I could easily go back and forth to the hospital auntie. Not given for free like Benji said!"

The harsh tone in Adrian's last sentence made Benjamin grin while scratching his head.

"Haaah.... She's not as bad as you think Adrian.... At least try to be friends with Nadine."

Adrian chuckled this time.

"Auntie... How can we be friends if we don't see each other often even though we're in the same house. Looks like she left her room when I was in the hospital."

Benjamin and Marie looked so serious hearing Adrian's story.

"I eat breakfast alone and eat dinner alone. She'll only come out of her study when she comes back to her room. It's already very late at night."

Benjamin laughed so hard at Adrian's outburst. Marie hit Benjamin's back who was standing next to her to stop laughing.

"Ouch... You sound like a wife whose husband is busy at work and rarely touches them in the bed. Ha ha ha.... Is she tired of you? She doesn't seem to pay attention to you."

"Benjamin!!!"

At the same time Adrian and Marie shouted annoyed at Benjamin who immediately stopped laughing.

Benjamin again put on a serious face listening to the continuation of Adrian's story.

"A few days ago I met an old friend of mine because she interviewed us for a traveling magazine. Well... I don't know why Nadine suddenly warned me to be careful meeting my girlfriends."

Adrian stared at his aunt's words.

Adrian looked at his aunt and Benjamin who was still trying hard not to laugh at Adrian's confused expression.

Marie took a deep breath.

Adrian sighed and just nodded slowly. During their honeymoon, Nadine ordered food for Benjamin every day and fruit for his aunt through Jim.

His aunt also kept asking Adrian to put her in touch with Nadine but because he was still upset with Nadine he didn't want to see Nadine.

Adrian just kept silent hearing Marie's question.

"Go home.... Please check your wife to make sure if she's okay. She might faint from over work."

Benjamin's joke made Adrian a little worried, especially considering Nadine who often had bad dreams.

Seeing Adrian's worried face, Benjamin smiled. He moved from his mother's side and took the cake box that was on the table.

"I came home to make cheesecake, I made it for Nadine too. Anna said Nadine likes cheesecake. Give it to her for lunch."

Adrian immediately glared at Benjamin.

"Since when you have been close to Nadine's assistant and since when you have been so concerned about Nadine?"

Marie laughed at Adrian's question.

"Ha ha ha.... Are you jealous Adrian?"

Adrian was getting more and more annoyed at Marie's taunts.

"Auntie... I'm just making sure Benjamin doesn't get into trouble with Miss Anna."

Marie smiled faintly.

"Just like Nadine who doesn't want you to get into trouble with the reporters who are going after you because of a scandal."

Her aunt's words made Adrian speechless.

"Two days ago, Nadine asked Anna to check on mom's condition before you come here. So she chatted a little with her, maybe at that time mom was interrogating Anna about Nadine."

Marie nodded, confirming Benjamin's words.

"Yeah... I haven't had a chance to properly thank her after the operation. So I asked her assistant a bit."

Adrian was still speechless and confused by how quickly Marie and Benjamin were nice to Nadine.

"You guys seem really good with Nadine. I still can't forgive her..."

Benjamin took a deep breath.

"Adrian I still can't forgive her but she has been helping mom with treatment and seems to be nice to you too. At least before I can pay everything to her, mom thinks that we can thank her with a little thing like this."

Marie smiled and added to Benjamin's words.

"You know when auntie asked Benjamin to make cheesecake for Nadine. Ha ha ha.... He kept refusing it because he was worried that it would upset Adrian..."

Adrian smiled and looked at Benjamin who looked embarrassed.

"Take this and go home.... Give it to your sugar mom. Who knows she will spoil you more. Ha ha ha... And that makes mother stop forcing me to make this cake either."

Benjamin hands over the cake to Adrian who reluctantly accepts that box.

"Benjamin...."

Marie's call for Benjamin only made Benjamin give him a grin. And Adrian could only take a deep breath.

"Haaah... Alright...."

Adrian finally decided to return to the villa and bring Benjamin's cake.

Along the way to the villa he thought about how to be casual with Nadine.

"She seemed to be deliberately avoiding me."

After a long time, he finally arrived at the villa. In front of the villa, there are people who will deliver lunch waiting at the door.

"Why don't you come in?"

Adrian who just got out of the car then greeted them.

"Miss Nadine hasn't responded earlier. We've been here for almost fifteen minutes waiting for her."

Benjamin's words immediately flashed through his mind. Adrian's face looked worried.

"I'll check her, you can prepare our lunch. Thank you."

Without thinking Adrian went straight to Nadine's study room. He repeatedly knocked on the door but there was no answer. Finally he tried to open the door and found it was not locked.

On the large sofa in the middle of the room Nadine fell asleep. Her forehead scrunched up several times like she was having a bad dream.

After placing the cake on the table, Adrian approaches Nadine. This time Nadine didn't make a sound at all but she kept frowning.

"You're going to make a wrinkle if you keep doing that."

Slightly disturbed by Nadine's facial expression, Adrian gently massaged the gap of Nadine's eyebrows and managed to make Nadine smile when she felt the warmth of Adrian's hands.

"Strange woman...."

Maybe Adrian's massaged a little hard because suddenly Nadine jolted and sat up straight away.

"Uh... Ehm... What are you doing here?"

Adrian took a deep breath.

"You're worrying the people who deliver lunch."

Nadine looks confused and looks around.

"Why are you home?"

Adrian got up from his chair and immediately took Benjamin's cake.

"Auntie told me to give this to you. It's made by Benjamin, I don't know if it suits your taste or not."

Nadine immediately accepted it and opened it. Her tired face immediately lit up when she knew what was inside.

"Cheesecake!!!"

Like a child who received a cake from her parents, Nadine looked at the cheesecake in front of her and swallowed it many times.

Growl... Growl....

Adrian chuckled at Nadine's stomach sound. The girl who is famously cold and curt looks like a five year old child in front of her favorite cake.

"You can eat it after lunch."

Nadine pouted and closed the cake box again. She rushed towards the door with her cake and immediately turned to look at Adrian when she almost reached the door.

"Let's have lunch.... I want to eat this cake soon."

Adrian just shook his head and followed Nadine out.

"You don't want to have breakfast and dinner with me... Now just because of cheesecake you're taking me to lunch..."
