Why Is He Here?

Amira was utterly shocked. She was left jaw open after looking at the overwhelming handsome man in front of her. He looked about 18 years of age. She knew who he was. She could tell just from one glance that it was him.

Why? Why? Why is he here? It can't be true is it? thought Amira to herself.

In front of her stood a 6 foot dark haired, black eyed handsome man, Ahmed Salam. His features as delicate as an idol. However what the Ahmed didn't notice was Amira's awe struck expression, instead he initiated a conversation.

"Why sacrifice such a beautiful dress for a book?" he asks while looking at Amira.

"Be-because it is g-good..." Amira manages to stutter these words out her mouth.

"Really? What is it about? Is it really that good?" he asks curiously gazing from the book to Amira's eyes.

"Oh yes! Yes! It is! Its a very good book! It is the second book of the series about this man who falls in love with a woman as they make their way though many adventures through their world and..." Amira begins rambling on and on about this book without realizing that the man was still standing right in front of her.

After speaking a bit more about the book, Amira finally snaps back to it and is surprised in herself, quickly biting her lip to not speak anymore. She already embarrassed herself in front of him enough, she thought.

Ahmed in front of her chuckles a bit, revealing a slight smile.

"I haven't seen a girl so interested in a book so much, you are surely different from the others!" he says while gazing at Amira gently.

"You don't even know me? Do you?" Amira shoots a cold stare at him, testing to see if he was playing her or he truly remembered her.

"You think I would forget you? You of all people?" he asks back, laughing now.

Amira nods her head.

"Hmmm, let me see, do I or do I not remember you?" he begins as he stared out to the distance then looked back at her with a smile on his face, "Amira, are you kidding me?"

She was shocked, her mind went blank.

He remembered, he did! she was too excited of that fact that she didn't feel him get closer to her face. When she did he was already near her headscarf.

"Someone is near but I have been waiting for this day for years now..." he whispers close enough to her ear where she could hear him.

With that, Ahmed patted her shoulder and turned to leave. Amira stood there still surprised as she watched his disappearing silhouette in the distance. Once Amira turns back around to retrieve her stuff she hears her younger brother's rushed walking.

"Sis, what's wrong with that guy? What's he doing? Did he kiss you? He better have not!" Amira's younger brother, Abed starts nagging as soon as he saw her.

"Do you think I have no manners!" says Amira as she sternly looks to her brother.

They start walking back together when Abed tells her, "Amira, I was just watching you two but I thought he did something to you. I didn't hear anything but if he said anything wrong, just watch me go at him!"

At this Amira was a little surprised too. She hadn't expected Ahmed to do that for her.

So there really was someone near us, was he worried for me to get in trouble? Amira couldn't help but think of why Ahmed did such a thing.

Amira and her brother eventually walked back to the baby shower with Ahmed nowhere to be seen again...
